Tbqh poles should be happy it wasn't more considering how many israelites they hid and how much partisan activity they had. Most great kings and emperors in history would have just put them all to the sword for 5 years of sabotaging their occupiers.
Hell, go from the 20th to the 19th century and most European nations would have done that. Leopold and the opium wars weren't that long ago.
>Leopold
>Leopold's administration of the Congo Free State was characterized by atrocities and systematic brutality, including forced labour, torture, murder, kidnapping, and the amputation of the hands of men, women, and children when the quota of rubber was not met. In 1890 and in one of the first uses of the term, George Washington Williams described the practices of Leopold's administration of the Congo Free State as "crimes against humanity".[1] These and other facts were established during Leopold's rule by eyewitness testimony, by on-site inspection from an international commission of inquiry, by the investigative journalism and activism of E. D. Morel, and by the 1904 Casement Report.
>While it has proven difficult to accurately estimate the pre-colonial population and the amount by which it changed under the Congo Free State, estimates for the Congolese population decline during Leopold's rule ranges from 1 million to 15 million. The causes of the decline included epidemic disease, acts of violence committed by the regime, severe famine caused by the regime’s actions, and a low birth rate during the worst of the Rubber Terror (in the period from 1896 to 1903).[2][3][4][5]:225–233
>In 1908, the reports of deaths and abuse, along with pressure from the Congo Reform Association and other international groups, induced the Belgian Government to take over the administration of the Congo from Leopold during the penultimate year of his rule. The Congo Free State was thus reconstituted as a new territory, the Belgian Congo.

>but hitler considered slavs subhumans!
Bullshit always makes me laugh, considering how European leaders treated people they actually considered to be subhumans.
Also that one MKquote where Hitler says that even the greatest doubters believe by now that Austria could succeed in germanizing slavs, because they are human but such thing couldn't work with a Black or chinaman.
The cutting off thieves hands part was Leopold adopting native African punishment but on a insane scale and enforced by other native Angolans. He was supposed to avoid the abyss not jump into it.

Letter of request, information does not equal to actually buying that many. 32 was the initial stated buy, that will likely be it. Perhaps additions since the Ukraine invasion by 8 or 12 to account for foreign basing and training. Also they might get the armed blackhawk variant if I'm not mistaken.

Yes
Looks like Poland has worked with Boeing before. Wonder where these helicopters will be built.
https://boeing.mediaroom.com/2015-07-09-Boeing-and-Polish-Armaments-Group-Explore-Business-Opportunities
They were originally designed for popping tanks for when the Cold War went hot. They got pressed into other uses after the Soviet Union collapsed.
They are probably the best helicopter gunship in existence. It's best used to kill tanks and other vehicles and groups of infantry at significant distances.
The cannon on them is really ass. Horribly inaccurate and no airburst rounds.
Destroying vehicles.
Designed in the 80s to prey on Russian armor in the event of a hot war in Europe.
After being distracted by the Middle East, they're finally returning to their native hunting grounds.
Does it really make sense to field them when even a fricking ATGM can take them out?
The calculation was that on average, an Apache would kill 13 times its own value in enemy materiel before being destroyed.
It's definitely unsafe as frick operating rotary wing anywhere near a peer opponent, but they're also dangerous as frick to the enemy when they're flying nape of the earth and they're on you before you can pop a shot off.

God I wish the germans worked you over harder 80 years ago when they were swinging their dicks all over eastern Europe.
Frickface I don't care if slavs kill each other in Ukraine either, but that doesn't make Poland's recent acquisitions any less based. We are looking at a military modernisation program that hasn't been seen in Europe since WW2. It's impressive in scope and scale and absolutely unparalleled for a country that size.

frick it, give me a stick big enough to wack russia (and maybe to make germany feel unconfortable) and i will fricking woof
>a country with Poland's GDP and population maintain these
Cheaper than being raped by Russia. Don't focus on the cost of the seatbelt but the value of not being destroyed. Poland is a rare country that is spending a minimal amount on defense compared to like Germany that spends next to nothing.
There's an election in Poland shortly. Everything seems to be communications.
Poland is the #21 economy on Earth.
Exactly, your a fricking mino economy. Australia is substantially richer and I'm telling you this type of procurement would kill the aus army. Not the cost just the sustainment and maintenance.
I'm guessing maybe cost of labour is cheaper in Poland.
It's almost like Australia is putting most of their money into navy or something.
Now go take a look at S.Korean ground forces. They have literally thousands of tanks, SPGs and hundreds of GMLARS. Even with everything they buy now Poland will have a much smaller army.
That's what ground border with a hostile country does.
S.Korea is 10th gdp in the world and can afford that stuff.
Poland is poor and can't, all of this hype will die down and I'm predicting lots of back tracking on procurement.
Poland's economy is only 40% smaller, the contracts will be fulfilled by 2030 or later, meanwhile Korea has less room to grow and worse demographic, so is Korea also irrational and will start reducing any moment?
Every year is like 3-4% geometric growth for countries who aren't fully developed
Isn’t the polish birthrate 1? That’s literally just 0.2 away from SK
Poland just got 2 million Ukrainians.
No? It was 1.3 in 2015 and 1.5 in 2019
Slavs (Kievian Polans?) migrate into Poland about 1300 years ago and hold the general region. Go from initial 100k or less to 1mln in 1000AD. Hold the territory while surrounded by Rus (6 mln) and Germans (12 mln+ next 4 mln of hanger ons), states start to coaelsce or close in. In 1018 Poland beats both of them in span of 3 months, but can't capitalize on it because of manpower needed to hold land. All the way to 18th century. Poland goes and absorbs states and populations to the East while bashing Turkish attempts at getting closer. Then interacting w/ colonialist economies and cavalry going out of style fricks it over. Pops back up after ww1, beats Soviets immediately. Loses to Rib-Mol, pops back up after Warsaw Pact, starts out growing similar economies.
If greatness is genetic then maybe Poles are just better than other Euros, because we played wide on hard mode and we're still here. Them's the facts. Go purchase a pint of Polish excellence at a sperm bank near you.
>Only 40%
>ONLY
Yes only. Korea has 15 million more people and much worse GDP growth. Poland has more than enough money to have an army 2/3 the size of what S.Korea has.
Korea is a fricking hellhole though, I wouldn't wish it upon my worst enemy to have to live like those bug people.
Also GDP and tax income are probably more relevant than population and GDP growth, though I won't pretend how those compare.
>1908
I always thought it happened like a century or two earlier jesus lmao
>I won't pretend how those compare
*to know
>GDP growth
Are you actually fricking moronic, they dwarf your economy by orders of magnitude. Poland has a high GDP growth right now, but a tiny economy. Your GDP growth is meaningless, yes it's bigger than China and America. But do you really think that makes you korea, china or America? No of course not.
Stupid fricking Polack you're dwarfed by the Canadian and Taiwanese economy even.
What anon is telling you is that there's no scenario that you can afford that many attack helicopters, and it's absolutely true.
did you even check the economy sizes? It as stated itt, moron.
No frickwit I use the OECD. Poland isn't even large European economy.
No you disingenuous fricknuckle we aren't talking about 'helicopters' we are talking about attack choppers and SK has a fleet of 113. The 3rd biggest economy in the world,Japan only operates 119.
Poland is great. I love them, all power to them but let's acknowledge they can't afford all this shit. And let's not be absolutely disingenuous about the relative size and power of Poland here, they are 100 billion richer than fricking Belgium and that's it, not that far away from Thailand in GDP.
C'mon here homosexual, do better in logic.
https://www.investopedia.com/insights/worlds-top-economies/
>we are talking about attack choppers and SK has a fleet of 113. The 3rd biggest economy in the world,Japan only operates 119.
Both of those countries also have navies 20x more expensive than Polish navy. And air force 10x as expensive.
Don't act like 100 Apaches and 1000 tanks will bankrupt a mid size economy.
>Don't act like 100 Apaches and 1000 tanks will bankrupt a mid size economy.
Again you've shown yourself to be a pretty disingenuous player. We aren't just talking about the second largest fleet of Apaches and new tanks we're talking about the largest military modernisation of a european country since WW2 that includes f-35s, HIMARS, k9s, ifv, frigates, submarines, missles, six batteries of new AA, Gladius drones etc etc.
Don't be disingenuous anon otherwise no one will take you seriously. Let's be clear here, we all want Poland to buy this shit, all of us, save for vatniks but this starting to look like fantasy procurement for an economy of Poland's size.
Even with all the new gear on order Polish military will not be half the size and cost of South Korean one. More like 1/3. So they will still be spending a smaller % of GDP than Korea does. And not like they need more since that army will be enough to rape Russia 3 times over.
Stop coping already vatnik.
>So they will still be spending a smaller % of GDP than Korea does.
Are you being serious or are you really this stupid. You called me a vatnik so I'm thinking it's the latter.
>So they will still be spending a smaller % of GDP than Korea does.
Are you legit moronic or something? Even after modernization polish army will be far smaller than what koreans have now.
Anon you are arguing with yourself here. No one's even discussing their %gdp defence spend relative to SK we're talking about Poland's economy and whether it can support this level of spending and the sustainment and maintenance costs of these pretty expensive new platforms.
You're also kind of assuming this level of procurement will level out to 5-6% GDP (re your SK example) and that's not at all clear for a number of reasons re inflation, continued GDP growth, projected platform costs/delays. Let's not forget money dumped into defence isn't productive so it's not growing Polish GDP in any way even given these are largely foreign built platform.
Yes there will be a handful of jobs created from domestic manufacture but it's still not a productive investment unless Poland intends to build a MIC capable of serious arms exportation.
Try to be a little less moronic anon.
>can economy half the size of SK support an army less than half as expensive as SK army
Truly question of the century.
Again disingenuous bullshit. You keep bringing up SK. Yet we have no idea what the cost of this procurement is and what % Poland will be in for, let's be absolutely clear Polish Defence Ministry so far has offered no timeline, no funding plan has been elaborated on the 2035 modernization plan.
You seem to think too that procurement in Poland goes through proper budgeting and checks. No. It doesn't even need parliamentary approval, it's just a signature from the ministry of defence.
As pole anon above points out these announcements are in large part purely political, and let's hope for the sake of their economy that's the case.
S.Korea spends 50 billion $ a year on military. Poland 14 and they will increase it by 50%.
SoK 50.2B$ @ 2.8% GDP
Poland 14b$ @ 2.2% GDP
Sok 555,000 Active with 2.75M R
Poland 150,000 Active
After watching a neighbor get invaded and having only 150k active troops I Poland can easily afford to increase military spending to match SoK 2.8% increasing spending to 18B a year. 4B year over year can buy a lot of stuff especially with offsets.
2.8% of 674 = 18.872
Tard take, you can't compare % GDP defence spending like that. What matters is the relative strength of either economies and industry support that funding / procurement. GDP doesn't tell you that.
Good thing Poland is getting tech transfer and other deals when buying those things then.
>tech transfer
Yea nah, unless the US is transferring you a new economy that doesn't help you.
You are wasting your time and effort, "poland stronk" memes fueled delusions are argueing agianst you. Remeber how they tried to make a poland general 2 months ago?
Most (not all) of the these very vocal polish posters are newbies.
What?
Want to discuss weapons, shills pour out of the woodwork to insult some random nation. At least when SEA nations buy stuff is obvious its other SEA shitposting. This excessive dislike of a certain euro nation is odd. The Poland strong memes are living rent free in your mind.
Korean economy is 40% larger. By that logic Poland can fund an army about half the size of what Korea has. Which is exactly what they are doing.
S.Korea has almost 900 helis in service. Poland has around 250 right now.
Deceptive. Mexico is 16th and it already has double the size of Poland. France is 7th and it's again double the GDP of Mexico. And US in the first place is 8 times the size of France's GDP and like 37 times bigger than Poland. Poland might not be Africa-tier shithole but they want to have the biggest army in Europe with no economy to fund it with.
Link me a good Apache battle on wiki
everyone who complains about costs or relying on foreign contractors doesn't get the difficulty of ramping up spending in a democracy. Now's the time to go balls to the wall and do a shopping spree, when everyone has a local war on their minds. Later will never happen. Also just in time before Shi kicks off ww3, so forget upkeep costs.
Kaliningrad will be in Poland's hands soon, the de-Russification operation will be glorious. Vatnigs won't be able to use nooks because the US will nuke them if they try anything.

They're not white, they're all just different degrees of albino.
How European countries know at they making rightdecisions? Easy, krauts and vatniks butthurt together.
How do they fund it?
Poland has debt of 50% its GDP and huge reserves in gold and foreigh currencies. Lots of wiggle room.
Isnt their eastern infrastructure such a burning dumpster fire that germany had to pay them in order to fix it? Poland is the number 1 reciever of EU gibs because they are behind the european averange that much, maybe investing in the military isnt the way to go.
No? Stop listening to butthurt vatniks. Plenty of countries take way more EU money per capita.
Germany, topping the ranking, put in 17.2 billion Euros more than it got out. Poland was the biggest monetary benefactor from the EU, coming out with 11.6 billion euros earned, far ahead of Hungary (5 billion Euros) and Greece (3.2 billion Euros).
Poland has 2x the pop of Hungary and Greece combined
The point was to proof that poland gets more than any other country you dishonest idiot
Isnt the EU aid more like US FMF in that the recipient nation has to spend in on donor nation goods?
No, not anymore in 2022
>Poland is the number 1 reciever of EU gibs because they are behind the european averange that much
what is per capita
>averange
ESL detected
>b-but muh capita
not the point that was upheld
"EU gibs" aren't gibs at all. In reality that money is more like damages paid to the countries whose domestic enterprises suffer from having to compete with disproportionately powerful economic behemoths in an unrestricted market while their own governments can't offer them any protection. When a country enters the EU their local businesses are like kids thrown into a pool swarming with hungry great white sharks. Poland gets more "gibs" than other small countries because compared to them it trades with the rest of the EU on a much larger scale, on conditions that favor other countries more, so it gets more "gibs" to balance that out in return. If EU didn't offer "gibs" to its members nobody would want to be in the EU because it would be a suicidal arrangement.
>Poland gets more gibs because they are poor
>Poland can afford all these things

It's funny I came to this thread yesterday thinking frick Poland is based as frick but now I'm thinking the polish might actually be moronic.

They have so much money flooding the economy and loosing value every fricking day that they desperately looking at any oportunity to remove some of it from circulation and thus slow down the currency turning into scrap paper.

Any chance the poles are going to sell off some of that equipment once it becomes obvious they can't maintain and use it all? Several small states in the area could make good use of it.
So much for the rumored LAH deal.
That is the idea. Or at least, that should be the idea if poles are not moronic.
Poland built themselves a reputation by helping ukies so much. The eastern euro NATO members would be keen on having a highly compatable army with poland.
They should sell half the SK equipment they bought plus some units that they (hopefully) will domestically produce. Finland, Norway, and Estonia has already jumped on the K train so start there.
Transitioning into a military manufacturing economy will probably be the only way poland comes out ahead of this deal.
i love the usa/poland timeline
>this military vehicle is just like the type of girl I like
It's a heap of filthy greasy machinery that requires hundreds of hours of thankless labor, breaks down a lot and devours money.
Literally most women then
polack here, where tf are we getting this money from
inflation, budget's swelling. Rest will be on credit. PiS is betting on further wars within next dozen years. If they're right you'll be happy as a pig in shit having all this junk.
That would make Poland the largest operators of Apache attack helicopters after the USA.
Attack helicopters are obsolete.
Why are you morons already claiming that Poland will buy 500 HIMARS or 94 Apaches? The only thing Poland did was to send letters of request to the US gov, 94 Apaches is basically the maximum number the buyer is willing to get but the US gov with military industry might as well say "too much for you buddy" or that they don't have the production capacity to deliver them in any reasonable time and agree to only 42 Apaches or something. I would wait for the final contract and then discuss the Himars / Apache for Poland.
perfectly put. They are currently just trying to get as much as they can. Better put in too many orders than too few
No? Thats fricking moronic unless you are in a war
>They are currently just trying to get as much as they can
While ignoring their own economic might.
