                >Leopold's administration of the Congo Free State was characterized by atrocities and systematic brutality, including forced labour, torture, murder, kidnapping, and the amputation of the hands of men, women, and children when the quota of rubber was not met. In 1890 and in one of the first uses of the term, George Washington Williams described the practices of Leopold's administration of the Congo Free State as "crimes against humanity".[1] These and other facts were established during Leopold's rule by eyewitness testimony, by on-site inspection from an international commission of inquiry, by the investigative journalism and activism of E. D. Morel, and by the 1904 Casement Report.
                >While it has proven difficult to accurately estimate the pre-colonial population and the amount by which it changed under the Congo Free State, estimates for the Congolese population decline during Leopold's rule ranges from 1 million to 15 million. The causes of the decline included epidemic disease, acts of violence committed by the regime, severe famine caused by the regime’s actions, and a low birth rate during the worst of the Rubber Terror (in the period from 1896 to 1903).[2][3][4][5]:225–233
                >In 1908, the reports of deaths and abuse, along with pressure from the Congo Reform Association and other international groups, induced the Belgian Government to take over the administration of the Congo from Leopold during the penultimate year of his rule. The Congo Free State was thus reconstituted as a new territory, the Belgian Congo.

Bullshit always makes me laugh, considering how European leaders treated people they actually considered to be subhumans.
Also that one MKquote where Hitler says that even the greatest doubters believe by now that Austria could succeed in germanizing slavs, because they are human but such thing couldn't work with a Black or chinaman.

Cheaper than being raped by Russia. Don't focus on the cost of the seatbelt but the value of not being destroyed. Poland is a rare country that is spending a minimal amount on defense compared to like Germany that spends next to nothing.

Exactly, your a fricking mino economy. Australia is substantially richer and I'm telling you this type of procurement would kill the aus army. Not the cost just the sustainment and maintenance.

It's almost like Australia is putting most of their money into navy or something.

Now go take a look at S.Korean ground forces. They have literally thousands of tanks, SPGs and hundreds of GMLARS. Even with everything they buy now Poland will have a much smaller army.

That's what ground border with a hostile country does.

If whites are superior because of genetics then can someone please explain to me Polish people? How do they fit into this?

Slavs (Kievian Polans?) migrate into Poland about 1300 years ago and hold the general region. Go from initial 100k or less to 1mln in 1000AD. Hold the territory while surrounded by Rus (6 mln) and Germans (12 mln+ next 4 mln of hanger ons), states start to coaelsce or close in. In 1018 Poland beats both of them in span of 3 months, but can't capitalize on it because of manpower needed to hold land. All the way to 18th century. Poland goes and absorbs states and populations to the East while bashing Turkish attempts at getting closer. Then interacting w/ colonialist economies and cavalry going out of style fricks it over. Pops back up after ww1, beats Soviets immediately. Loses to Rib-Mol, pops back up after Warsaw Pact, starts out growing similar economies.

If greatness is genetic then maybe Poles are just better than other Euros, because we played wide on hard mode and we're still here. Them's the facts. Go purchase a pint of Polish excellence at a sperm bank near you.

No frickwit I use the OECD. Poland isn't even large European economy.

Korean economy is 40% larger. By that logic Poland can fund an army about half the size of what Korea has. Which is exactly what they are doing.

S.Korea has almost 900 helis in service. Poland has around 250 right now.

No you disingenuous fricknuckle we aren't talking about 'helicopters' we are talking about attack choppers and SK has a fleet of 113. The 3rd biggest economy in the world,Japan only operates 119.

Poland is great. I love them, all power to them but let's acknowledge they can't afford all this shit. And let's not be absolutely disingenuous about the relative size and power of Poland here, they are 100 billion richer than fricking Belgium and that's it, not that far away from Thailand in GDP.

We aren't just talking about the second largest fleet of Apaches and new tanks we're talking about the largest military modernisation of a european country since WW2 that includes f-35s, HIMARS, k9s, ifv, frigates, submarines, missles, six batteries of new AA, Gladius drones etc etc.

Don't be disingenuous anon otherwise no one will take you seriously. Let's be clear here, we all want Poland to buy this shit, all of us, save for vatniks but this starting to look like fantasy procurement for an economy of Poland's size.

Even with all the new gear on order Polish military will not be half the size and cost of South Korean one. More like 1/3. So they will still be spending a smaller % of GDP than Korea does. And not like they need more since that army will be enough to rape Russia 3 times over.

Anon you are arguing with yourself here. No one's even discussing their %gdp defence spend relative to SK we're talking about Poland's economy and whether it can support this level of spending and the sustainment and maintenance costs of these pretty expensive new platforms.

You're also kind of assuming this level of procurement will level out to 5-6% GDP (re your SK example) and that's not at all clear for a number of reasons re inflation, continued GDP growth, projected platform costs/delays. Let's not forget money dumped into defence isn't productive so it's not growing Polish GDP in any way even given these are largely foreign built platform.

Yes there will be a handful of jobs created from domestic manufacture but it's still not a productive investment unless Poland intends to build a MIC capable of serious arms exportation.

Try to be a little less moronic anon.

Again disingenuous bullshit. You keep bringing up SK. Yet we have no idea what the cost of this procurement is and what % Poland will be in for, let's be absolutely clear Polish Defence Ministry so far has offered no timeline, no funding plan has been elaborated on the 2035 modernization plan.

You seem to think too that procurement in Poland goes through proper budgeting and checks. No. It doesn't even need parliamentary approval, it's just a signature from the ministry of defence.

As pole anon above points out these announcements are in large part purely political, and let's hope for the sake of their economy that's the case.

After watching a neighbor get invaded and having only 150k active troops I Poland can easily afford to increase military spending to match SoK 2.8% increasing spending to 18B a year. 4B year over year can buy a lot of stuff especially with offsets.

"EU gibs" aren't gibs at all. In reality that money is more like damages paid to the countries whose domestic enterprises suffer from having to compete with disproportionately powerful economic behemoths in an unrestricted market while their own governments can't offer them any protection. When a country enters the EU their local businesses are like kids thrown into a pool swarming with hungry great white sharks. Poland gets more "gibs" than other small countries because compared to them it trades with the rest of the EU on a much larger scale, on conditions that favor other countries more, so it gets more "gibs" to balance that out in return. If EU didn't offer "gibs" to its members nobody would want to be in the EU because it would be a suicidal arrangement.

S.Korea is 10th gdp in the world and can afford that stuff.
Poland is poor and can't, all of this hype will die down and I'm predicting lots of back tracking on procurement.

        >GDP growth
Are you actually fricking moronic, they dwarf your economy by orders of magnitude. Poland has a high GDP growth right now, but a tiny economy. Your GDP growth is meaningless, yes it's bigger than China and America. But do you really think that makes you korea, china or America? No of course not.

Stupid fricking Polack you're dwarfed by the Canadian and Taiwanese economy even.

What anon is telling you is that there's no scenario that you can afford that many attack helicopters, and it's absolutely true.

No frickwit I use the OECD. Poland isn't even large European economy.
        [...]

C'mon here homosexual, do better in logic.

        >Don't act like 100 Apaches and 1000 tanks will bankrupt a mid size economy.
Again you've shown yourself to be a pretty disingenuous player.

They are really are though. I'm glad the poles are stepping up and should be commended for that but the average polack is a subhuman IQ knuckle dragging idiot. I think the issue on /k/ at the moment is you've got a bunch of NAFO fellas thinking every procurement discussion is some sort of vatnik attack. It's moronic. I mean /k/ has always been moronic but these twitter and reddit fellas are a new low for the board.

    >>Just in: Poland will buy AH-64 Apache attack helicopters from Boeing. Warsaw plans to buy up to 96 new helicopters to replace Soviet-era Mi-24s.
General election in Poland are comming (fall 2023).
Currently ruling party are a bunch of complete fricking buffons in terms of economy (Parliment just agrred to approve national budget with predicted 7% inflation, while current official inflation is 16%)
They print so much empty money and keep throwing it around as fricking wellfare for its core electorate so hard that banks have to be forced under a threat of legal actions to offer deposits for individual people (and these are for 3 month max and have interest rate of 5%, yearly).
They have so much money flooding the economy and loosing value every fricking day that they desperately looking at any oportunity to remove some of it from circulation and thus slow down the currency turning into scrap paper.
Presto, you have a "buying" galore - only it's not really buying shit but paying "in advance" for a shit that will MAYBE arrive in 5 or do years

Any chance the poles are going to sell off some of that equipment once it becomes obvious they can't maintain and use it all? Several small states in the area could make good use of it.

So much for the rumored LAH deal.

That is the idea. Or at least, that should be the idea if poles are not moronic.
Poland built themselves a reputation by helping ukies so much. The eastern euro NATO members would be keen on having a highly compatable army with poland.
They should sell half the SK equipment they bought plus some units that they (hopefully) will domestically produce. Finland, Norway, and Estonia has already jumped on the K train so start there.
Transitioning into a military manufacturing economy will probably be the only way poland comes out ahead of this deal.

It's a heap of filthy greasy machinery that requires hundreds of hours of thankless labor, breaks down a lot and devours money.

That would make Poland the largest operators of Apache attack helicopters after the USA.

Why are you morons already claiming that Poland will buy 500 HIMARS or 94 Apaches? The only thing Poland did was to send letters of request to the US gov, 94 Apaches is basically the maximum number the buyer is willing to get but the US gov with military industry might as well say "too much for you buddy" or that they don't have the production capacity to deliver them in any reasonable time and agree to only 42 Apaches or something. I would wait for the final contract and then discuss the Himars / Apache for Poland.
