Off the shelf 115grn 9mm is completely safe to shoot in Lugers. It's the hotter 124grn, defensive, and +P ammos you have to worry about. Well, 115grn round ball 9mm may not be the best for anything other than target shooting, it is by far the most common type of 9mm, and thus still a very usable option in TEOTWAWKI situations.

I bought Uvk58 after anon made a thread, I'm not that impressed by it despite /misc/shilling it so hard. If shtf I will opt to get a better radio. It does what it says but tx power is dogshit. It is only good for Rx

        Anonymous

The tx issues I was not aware of but the main appeal was it being cheaper than a Baofeng UV-5R while having way more features and mods, I had a Baofeng for work and got the Quansheng cause it was cheap as shit, they work fine for just basic UHF and listening to satellites and planes.

It's hard to say, the Quansheng has a whole slew of mods made for it now but the Baofeng lasted many years at work in the rain or being dropped from a catwalk by clumsy coworkers so I can vouch for it being a solidly built radio.

Their UV-K5(8) feels pretty sturdy except for the beltclip. But honestly the spectrum analyzer, while really awesome for an HT isn't my thing on this kind of screen. IJV v.3.14 makes it way better than Egzumer firmware.

    Have this here Sangean digital...
-Can work off of battery power OR it can plug in. Thats important so that you can listen to the radio for the vast majority of the time that it will HAVE power so that you don't have to chomp batteries just to listen to it. But in emergency its an Batt powered radio
    -Headphone jack
-No hand crank. Hand cranks are unnecessary. If civilization is so fricked that you can't find a supply of batteries within a few weeks after power goes out then you have bigger problems than not having a radio.

My phone doubles as a radio, but if shit ever gets bad enough that TV, phones, internet, car radios, and roads are disabled, I don't think a portable radio is going to help.

  29. 2 weeks ago

Reminder to those that don't feel like getting a HAM license, or just need slightly longer communication than a Baofeng can offer, that CB Radios aren't just for truckers. With a simple home setup you can talk distances up to 10 miles, and for those on flatter land, that can be extended to 20 or even 40 miles at night.

      Anonymous

maybe from a home station, i remember driving across alligator alley which is flat and straight but i couldn't talk to my friends car ahead of me a few miles down the road

        Anonymous

        >i couldn't talk to my friends car ahead of me a few miles down the road
To be clear, I was mostly talking about home setups. Car setups are incredibly variable depending on antenna setups, variable power out puts from the engine, and a lot more. A stable home setup with a small outdoor antenna is going to be much superior.

Right now I have a Tecsun PL680, a little Baofeng HAM radio, and a portable CB radio that I don't remember the name of. With the CB radio the only thing that I can pick up in my rented townhouse is some guy who is seemingly always on his CB and calls himself SWAMP DOG. I can't understand a god damn word he says because he speaks with such a thick accent. It basically goes like this:
      >THIS ISSSS SWAMP DOGGGGGGGGG
      >*Incoherent rambling for about a minute*
      >SWAMP DOGGGGGGGGG
I just bought a house and will be moving to a smaller city soon, I plan to set up some antennas at the new place once I get settled. I will miss SWAMP DOG but hope to receive something more coherent. Also, with my Baofeng I can pick up the local HAM radio club, who just talk about boring bullshit for a few minutes a day.

The chain is stationary, so no it won't "snap". And necessary to filter out strong local AM/FM bands that will overload your receive across the spectrum since these don't have notch filtering like the expensive ones. And I have a giant 160 pound dog that rides w me so there's gonna be hair, daily.

Are you telling me you are so weak. that a Simple Blizzard or hurricane is SHTF / End of the world situation for you? If you never lived near hurricanes guess what you can prepare non perishable food now. and store it in secure places. like an adult who manages his house would.
Blizzard / snow in? o guess what you as a human have this crazy thing called Jacket / clothes. And i know many of you are fat and lazy. but you can use your legs and walk to the store. Or be an adult and have a certain amount of non perishable food.
Funny that you kdis think SHTF means a minor inconvenience. No its a major fricking problem. Like nuclear missles or asteroid. Something that really is Shit Hitting the Fan. not some minor nuisance like your gf on her period.

Sometimes shit happens. It isn't end of the world shit, but things where communications are very relevant & needed. You can't do that if the phone & networks are all down. What you're suggesting is reliance on a shaky system, which is dumb. You can't take down the airwaves & sometimes you have to work w other people in a trusted network of residents that help each other in times of need.

My father in law had this happen to him. His small town had a major flood that fricked everything, and there's was no outside help for days (rural Appalachia). Him & his buddies communicated via CB to get people out of their homes, bring food & water, get shit for themselves, etc.

You honestly sound like you either haven't really lived long enough to see things happen, or live in a gov cuck area full of Black folk where nobody gives a shit about anybody else. Don't worry goy, help is on the way lol.
