Yes I would. I'm disappointed that I was born too early to see space imperialism.
Kyrgyzstan is nominally a democracy but has had like 3 revolutions in 20 years while Tajikistan is authoritarian and think they deserve to rule Central Asia. Kyrgyzstan has slightly nicer nature while Tajikistan is kinda like Afghanistan but with less durkas.
Yeah. When the Soviet Union fell, whoever was the party boss of a given 'stan just became the new president for life. Keep in mind that these places were so poor that they didn't ask to leave the Soviet Union, they were actually forced to because Moscow didn't want to subsidize them any more.
So it's an extremely backwards, dysfunctional part of the world even by post-Soviet standards.
Kyrghizstan is the only country in central asia to have a kind-of semi-democracy that's not just a façade, they've had 5 different ruling parties in the last 20 years, there's a somewhat free press, and there's no stain of ethnic cleansing
Tajikstan has had the same "president" for 30 years, no free press, no parvence of democracy, and there were widesperad massacres of Pamirs and other minorities right after the civil war in 1994

The only notable section of straight borders I see are Uzbekistan’s western border (where nobody lives) and a couple of the autonomous republics within the RSFSR. Otherwise most of these borders are about as straight as you are.
Stalin and his successors literally drew the borders so that these SSRs would have ethnic minority enclaves that made independence for these regions difficult since the minorities knew they'd be at the mercy of the majority groups if they gained independence. N-K is the most well known example that we know that was done deliberately by him.
This is the Kyrgyzstan–Tajikistan border and totally an example of borders meant to create problems down the line.
>who’s the good guy here?

We must always cheer when evil destroys itself (and it always does, in the end).

Nonsense.
Theyre both Turks by blood, Iranian by culture, and follow an Arabian religion.
Turks generally have Iranian customs merely because of their proximity to Iran allowed them to trade their livestock for crops and manufactured goods
You sure? Geographically they’re closer to Afghans. Pretty sure they’re both Turkic peoples (Mongols), who are often confused with Turkish people (Greek-Persian Mutts).
Anyway, a war makes sense considering their border gore is pretty extreme.
Tajiks speak an Iranian language, closely related to Persian, their flag is also very similar to that of Iran for a reason. I know they are not *literally* Iranians, I was obviously simplifying things.

I’m rooting for the Kyrgs.
No, Tajik is literally Persian, just renamed by the soviets to divide and rule, like Moldovan
Stalin. He gave Ukraine Southern Bassarabia, then gave Moldova troonysistria, to save myself a lot of googling and remembering all the territories, I’m just going to say he pretty much fricked over every single SSR member with territorial dispute on purpose so they can never break away from the USSR without having a breakaway minority region and civil war. Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict can also be linked to this for example.
He also did his magic in Crimea. It used to have a huge Tatar minority so he ordered their deportation to Central Asia then installed Russian settlers to replace them. It was made easier by the fact that Soviets had already thinned them out with massacres and famines beforehands. And before that the Russian Empire had done more of the same, causing many to escape to the Ottoman Empire. In the end, it took between 100 to 150 years for the entire Tatar population of the peninsula to be replaced with Russians. Not as bad as what happened to Circassia, which was a proper genocide, but par for the course for Russia.
Keep that in mind whenever someone claim Crimea is ancestral Russian clay and Ukraine should just let it go.
Tajiks speak a language closely related to Farsi, and consider themselves to be an Iranian people, as opposed to the Turkic speaking peoples in most of the rest of Central Asia. Afghan isn’t an ethnicity, it’s an amalgamation of all the different ethnic groups in Afghanistan. There are actually more Tajiks in Afghanistan than in Tajikistan.
>Afghan
Used to refer to Pashtuns, so it was. Until colonist and post-nationalist Westoids decided to elimimate nationalist discourse by pretending nation=state
Most Pashtuns haven’t lived in Afghanistan since the early 19th century, after the collapse of the Afghan empire. Pashtuns don’t even make up a majority of the population and nowadays way more live in Pakistan, that’s part of the reason why the Taliban got so much support from across the border.
Afghanistans current borders were drawn long after the Pashtuns stopped Black personing out and settled. These guys used to do nothing productive, just sacking the the carcass of the Mughal Empire back in the 18th century until the Brits provided them a competent army of local hires with European training that could beat medieval cavalry charges
people need to stop pretending like turkic and turkish are the same thing
the turkic peoples of central asia, asiatic steppe people, are nothing like the turkic peoples of turkey and azerbaijan, who are turkic/greek/arabic/armenian/etc. mutts whose only claim to turkicness is their languages
tldr; don't judge kyrgyzstan based on your opinion of turkey, for better and worse the two aren't similar at all
>he missed the entire context of the India-China conflict
They've been here for years. In fact, I've read some interesting articles that imply Europe was in a perpetual water war over the Rhine for two millennia.
lemme guess, they say something like, "a bunch of counts/kings/chiefs around the rhine were fighting wars for thousands of years, so if we view it through the lens of them fighting FOR the rhine, then they were fighting for the rhine for thousands of years!"
The politburo deliberately prevented one ethnicity to dominate each republic in Central Asia, so that it would be hard for them to rebel and form a separatist movement. Not only the local ethnicity, but also by settling other non-Central Asian ethnicity like Russians, Ukrainians, israelites, etc.
Because it's the same shit as happened with Yugoslavia. Commies wanted to push the "we are all same people" and mixed forcefully different nationalities within one country. Now it tourns out they don't want to stay in former country anymore and have a dispute, and there is no big guy to cover it.
Other muslims don't care about the Uighurs. Only the evil west at least occasionally criticizes and sanctions China for human rights violations.
All these petty regional dictators will sell out their people to become filthy rich.
Why should they care that the chinese will forcefully assimilate their people through genocide, if they live in a palace in Beijing?
The Ummah has no solidarity. Even Palestinians are just a lip-service issue for Muslim-majority countries. Pan-Islamism is a useful PR tool for riling up the masses, though.
Can someone give me a QRD? Really interested what the source of the conflict here and what the capabilities of these states are. Too bad I know almost frick all about Central Asia post-1800s, outside Kazakhstan.
nation states that hate each other and have fricked borders and enclaves because soviet union are fighting over a river because water it's only limited intensity border clashes though some regular military units are probably involved like last time
kyrgzystan by far stronger though has over twice the active manpower and budget and have actually bought a few post soviet systems and has an actual air force while tajiks only operate old soviet equipment air force is only a few helicopters and main tank is t-62 in a fraction the number kyrgyzs have t-72 picrel is tajikistan soldiers in 1980 during the soviet invasion of afghani- wait no that's them in 2021
forgot picrel
anyways tajikistan army is terrible they didn't even inherit any soviet units since they're the only republic that had its local units absorbed into russia hence terrible equipment numbers little experience except from fighting its own civil war and no air force
Does anyone else remember watching a movie as a kid (I think Eddie Murphy was in it, maybe wrong, but it was a black lead actor anyway) where the villain (a man who pretends to be Native American) mentions a nuclear weapon detonating in Uzbekistan?
The important takeaway is that these places are in Russia's sphere of influence and that sphere of influence is collapsing before our very eyes. Same goes for the new Nagorno-Kabawhatever conflict that started heating up again just a week or two ago. The outcome isn't really important to anyone outside of the area though.
1) Russia will lose its grip on the region (post soviet satellite states)
2) China will assert regional stability
3) Russia may collapse
4) Iran may extend its powers
Gold prices, aluminum prices, belt and road passses through there (China fricked, Russia also fricked since they rely on China for basic consumer goods), Russian influence might wane, Chinese influence might rise.
Iran will likely take advantage of this to back one side and blackmail Putin into not interfering.
not particularly, wars are just interesting to watch regardless of the participants
weapons and doctrines in action, it's pure /k/ whether people like it or not. we need more wars, as many wars as possible
Kinda telling that this border conflict escalates now. Russia kept it under the lid for decades but now they are so weak and preoccupied in Ukraine that they can't provide security for their former colonies anymore.
Changs dont have much of any power projection capability and on average are even shittier versions of vatniks in warfare capabilities. This central asian border gore must be settled with good old fashioned war and genocide.
China is smart enough to stay out of these conflicts.
You lose more trying to be imperialistic than you gain by letting them sort things out for themselves and being capitalistic with the winners.
I like how as soon as the news came out about Russia redeploying most of the troops in the tajak base to Ukraine they instantly went to kill eachother.
China loses, because their Belt and Road gets fricked even harder. >who’s the good guy here?
Neither, but it's always safe to root for the defending side.
Failing that, it's always safe to pick the more Rusophobic side, which in this case would be hard - both Kyrgyz and Tajiks don't usually mind Russians but hate Kremlin with a passion.
(picrel, somebody stuck a "Missile to Kremlin" sign to a traffic light button).
>Tajik

More similar to Iran in terms of culture >Krygyz

More similar to other smaller turkic/nomadic democracy
All the Turkic stans should make common cause, namely riding over the steppe to frick the Russians again as in the good old days and establish a new khanate.
yeah, they always hated each other and wanted to clean up the borders in their favor. russia just kept a firm grip on the area so it never happened, outside of a few border clashes and minor conflicts. now that russia's grip strength is slipping, things are heating up again
>The Kyrgyzstani Ministry of Emergency Situations has declared a State of Emergency in the Batken Region of the Country where the majority of Heavy Fighting between itself and Tajikistani Forces have taken place, citizens within the Region are being asked to Evacuate Immediately.
Looks like the 3rd ceasefire did not last.
I wonder if the Kyrgyz president will follow through with his threat of total mobilization/martial law if the Tajiks don't pull back today? I don't feel like either side really has the capability to do all that much though unless other countries get involved.
China should just annex the 2 shitholes and gas the muzzies, caucasoids and russo-mutts polluting that beautiful desert. Or genocide them the western way - deny them work and laugh as they starve on the streets.
Russia had a deliberate strategy of encouraging conflicts in the region, making sure they never get resolved, and then inserting themselves as the peacekeeper to bolster their influence. Now everyone sees the RuAF are shit and that all their capacity is in Ukraine, so it's open season everywhere else.
I’m gonna be honest, who’s the good guy here?

Holy shit those borders are fricked lmao. I'm rooting for whichever side has the cooler sounding war songs.
100% kyrgyzstan
>Fergana Valley continues to bring more kino
The valley that keeps on giving.
If I didn't know Tashkent was in Gochiuzbekistan from the pasta I'd probably have spent hours trying to interpet this map.
kyrgyz are muslim mongols
tajiks are persian rape mutts that look like an arab+pajeet mix
people need to stop pretending like turkic and turkish are the same thing
the turkic peoples of central asia, asiatic steppe people, are nothing like the turkic peoples of turkey and azerbaijan, who are turkic/greek/arabic/armenian/etc. mutts whose only claim to turkicness is their languages
tldr; don't judge kyrgyzstan based on your opinion of turkey, for better and worse the two aren't similar at all
Tajiks.
Need examples of their hot women to decide.
so chinks vs gypsies?
the other side
All I needed to know.
>Iranians
>Aryans
So Tajikistan is a country filled with nazis?
Could I get a quick catch up why those two are fighing again?
Border disputes dating back to Stalin monkeying around with the province boundaries to ensure a frozen conflict.
....Also, revenge for the last border dispute.
Kyrgyzstan wants access to water that belongs to Tajikistan according to old maps
No idea who is in the right about that
Oh frick. The water wars are already upon us?
>he missed the entire context of the India-China conflict
They've been here for years. In fact, I've read some interesting articles that imply Europe was in a perpetual water war over the Rhine for two millennia.
>I've read some interesting articles that imply Europe was in a perpetual water war over the Rhine for two millennia.
can you post some links please?
lemme guess, they say something like, "a bunch of counts/kings/chiefs around the rhine were fighting wars for thousands of years, so if we view it through the lens of them fighting FOR the rhine, then they were fighting for the rhine for thousands of years!"
Cazadors are the only fricking video game creature that made me jump out of my seat multiple times.
I fear no man, but those...things, they scare me.
I'll take deathclaws over those fricking things.
>He doesn’t know about Ethiopia and Egypt
The politburo deliberately prevented one ethnicity to dominate each republic in Central Asia, so that it would be hard for them to rebel and form a separatist movement. Not only the local ethnicity, but also by settling other non-Central Asian ethnicity like Russians, Ukrainians, israelites, etc.
The local mafia boss aka Russia is too busy getting raided by the cops so the lesser thugs are settling their grudges.
Because it's the same shit as happened with Yugoslavia. Commies wanted to push the "we are all same people" and mixed forcefully different nationalities within one country. Now it tourns out they don't want to stay in former country anymore and have a dispute, and there is no big guy to cover it.
That picture is too fricking real, except replace snow with incessant rain and mud and there's no stove.
jews
Since Russia isn't going to do anything, will China swoop in an force a peace and even further cement Central Asia as their turf?
This does feel a bit like a chinese powerplay to get a foothold into the stans.
Maybe that's what the Xi-Putin meeting was about.
Shouldn't they hate the chinese with a passion considering what they are doing with the uighurs?
Other muslims don't care about the Uighurs. Only the evil west at least occasionally criticizes and sanctions China for human rights violations.
All these petty regional dictators will sell out their people to become filthy rich.
Why should they care that the chinese will forcefully assimilate their people through genocide, if they live in a palace in Beijing?
The Ummah has no solidarity. Even Palestinians are just a lip-service issue for Muslim-majority countries. Pan-Islamism is a useful PR tool for riling up the masses, though.
I know very little about both of these countries tbh
The rest of the world
The Kyrgyz can hire Chinese and North Koran mercs and you will not be able to tell by looking at them.
They seem to have the initiative despite that, my dude.
>they're the only republic that had its local units absorbed into russia
Why? They don't even border Russia.
Uzbekistan
Does anyone else remember watching a movie as a kid (I think Eddie Murphy was in it, maybe wrong, but it was a black lead actor anyway) where the villain (a man who pretends to be Native American) mentions a nuclear weapon detonating in Uzbekistan?
https://nitter.it/Archer83Able/status/1570675540989976577
Footage from the clashes
normally I'd be saying the US but not today now its the Taliban who win
>ctrl+f "who cares"

Is there any possible consequence of import that could occur because of this conflict between two nowheresville stans?
Nothing of great importance will happen no matter what these two countries do.
That's why it's fun to watch.
The important takeaway is that these places are in Russia's sphere of influence and that sphere of influence is collapsing before our very eyes. Same goes for the new Nagorno-Kabawhatever conflict that started heating up again just a week or two ago. The outcome isn't really important to anyone outside of the area though.
You forgot to seethe over reddit, Mike.
In and of itself, it is irrelevant. If all of the various -stans start fighting with each other at once, it's a shitshow of continental proportions.
Why are they fighting? Does Kyrgyzstan have tajik people?
Probably some tribe stealing some other tribe leader's favourite goatwife 200 years ago.
https://nitter.it/SaadAbedine/status/1570634002889048072#m
Video of fighting in the distance. It is reported that currently there is fighting along the entire border between the two countries.
So it's finally happening. Everyone now knows Russian security assurances are just as worthless as the rouble.
New Arma looks lit
BREAKING NEWS:
TAJIKISTAN HAS OCCUPIED A REGIONAL ADMINISTRATIVE BUILDING IN KYRGYZSTAN.

Oops. Here’s a non-direct to media link.
>No Allahu Ackbars
Feels kinda weird
The Soviets beat the religion out of most of these peoples when they occupied Central Asia.
https://twitter.com/sexenbeer/status/1570767047646388231
Here, they shout it towards the end
Sounds like such a weird monkey language
I think you can hear them say “blyat” occasionally.
Screams in orcish, kicks your toilet, burns your house down.
Kinda telling that this border conflict escalates now. Russia kept it under the lid for decades but now they are so weak and preoccupied in Ukraine that they can't provide security for their former colonies anymore.
Time for Uncle Xi to step in and restore order.
My sides would not survive China fricking up peace keeping
I like how as soon as the news came out about Russia redeploying most of the troops in the tajak base to Ukraine they instantly went to kill eachother.
The judeo-central banking plutocracy.
Tajikistan is gonna get tens of thousands of Afghan born Tajik "tourists" armed with fresh American stock
Which one is where women get kidnapped for wedding?
That's a mongol / turkic custom, so probably Kyrgyzstan
All of them.
Kyrgyzstan
uh, how do you pronounce Kyrgyzstan?
Kyrgyzstan
i hate you people
It's literally spelled phonetically, you anglobrain cretin
moron.
keergeestan, was that so hard to figure out?
>Kyrgyzstan
Like that.
Ah. Gotcha. Thanks, anon.
Kergistan. I think
No, "Kyrgyzstan", it's literally spelled out for you. Christ. French and Frenchification of the English language has been a disaster for human kind
>British are the ones to use French spellings
Really makes you think.
Kyr
Gyz
Stan
Kyrgyz: /qɯrɣɯstɑn/
Russian: /kɨrɡɨzstan/
Put a dick in your mouth and try to pronounce "Korea"
I'm really enjoying Rance Quest Magnum.
ahhh yes, Rance, God I loved that son of a b***h; I remember playing Sengoku on my XP.
I'm sure Rance would be a good Kyrgyzstan commander.
cur ga stan
Kyrrgssstan
So... what are they fighting for, what are their claims? It's not just a random border skirmish that escalated a bit too much?
>Tajik
Authoritarian state with one president for life
More similar to Iran in terms of culture
>Krygyz
Democratic state with multiple presidents
More similar to other smaller turkic/nomadic democracy
Anybody remember the Kyrgyz protests 10 years ago with Jude LAW?
i wonder if he sniped some tajiks while he was there
All the Turkic stans should make common cause, namely riding over the steppe to frick the Russians again as in the good old days and establish a new khanate.
I bet it will be some -stan.
who cares?
Good news, they made peace again.
Sauce?
Watching Russia's remaining soft power vanish the span of one year has been fricking hilarious.
Can't Kyrgyzstan literally just damn up the Vakhsh river and cut power to like 99% of Tajikistan?
>stan vs stan
Hopefully tney annihilate each other, then I win. Two less muzzie trash heaps.
Are we battling hordes period now? Will the Turkic or Iranic hordes dominate Central Asia now that Russia is collapsing?
T-72 cooked off and exploded as is tradition.
So which one of them is buying bayraktars?
Kyrgyzstan already has a few and reportedly already used them
Heresays at this point, but might've been a bayraktar target https://twitter.com/heizenbergkg/status/1570833295121973248
So is every shit hole around Russia grabbing their chance now that the Russian army has been effectively destroyed?
The rest of the world.
never have i heard about those two countries
Just imagine if the Taliban decided to say frick it and took over both countries with their arsenal of American weapons.
>Who wins in a war between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan?
China and NATO.
This war came out of absolutely nowhere for me. Did they always hate each other?
yeah, they always hated each other and wanted to clean up the borders in their favor. russia just kept a firm grip on the area so it never happened, outside of a few border clashes and minor conflicts. now that russia's grip strength is slipping, things are heating up again
Tajik has problems with Uzbeks/Krygizs and have internal islamic jihad groups that have tried incursions against both countries.
>both members of the CSTO
hell of an alliance
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Collective_Security_Treaty_Organization#Military_personnel
>Tajikistan
>Kyrgyzstan
Is this a meme thread or are these actually real places with actual armed forces and shit
>life
>death
Idk anon, does it get any realer?
Consonants.
>Entire Caucasus/central Asian region collapsing
>Putin suggests holding their own third world Olympics
Both are shitholes but Tajikistan started it so, they're ultimately in the wrong.
The borders are Russia's fault, it's not acceptable to take out your frustration on the Kyrgyz.
Would you live in post-USSR, answer would be obvios. Just look at Kyrgyzstan average militia venicles.
Everyone else.
Say it with me
>COLLECTIVE
>SECURITY
>TREATY
>ORGANIZATION
Savage as always.
What did Stalin mean by these borders
That’s a feature not a bug
this guy gets it
so when they say ethnic russians i assume they mean people from this area? pic related
Yes.
whats the spot they are fighting over? that lake in the middle by khujand?
What kind of drunk-ass moron drew these borders? Me?
Stalin was a criminal and used a criminal's methods: make your underlings too busy with each other to frick with you.
>Tajikistan
They are indoeuropean and speak persian language
>Kyrgyzstan
They are turkic and speak turkish language
Sblzestan
China should just annex the 2 shitholes and gas the muzzies, caucasoids and russo-mutts polluting that beautiful desert. Or genocide them the western way - deny them work and laugh as they starve on the streets.
Ceasefire failed again. Fighting is spreading.
Rest of humanity
Everyone rooting for a CSTO collapse.
OTAN
>Ukraine v Russia
>now Armenia v Azerbaijan
>now this
What's with all these conflicts popping off? Last year was dead silent.
Russia is collapsing so their bargain bin wannabe nato is tearing itself apart too
Russia had a deliberate strategy of encouraging conflicts in the region, making sure they never get resolved, and then inserting themselves as the peacekeeper to bolster their influence. Now everyone sees the RuAF are shit and that all their capacity is in Ukraine, so it's open season everywhere else.
who does uzbekistan support?
Kyrgyz forces using Bayraktar
I love those little drone homies like you wouldn’t believe, I can’t wait for the coming years to get some kino from the Akıncı
Well, I know who I'm supporting
>touch grass
Touch the grass, get the ass. It's a Tajik tradition
/k/ mercenary peacekeeping (and lovemaking) mission when?
