It’s funny cause now mp5 clones from Turkey are coming down in price drastically because of their economy shifting itself. I wonder what country will collapse next so we can get cheap guns.
The collapse of the Soviet Union was over 30 years ago.
>born too late to enjoy the surplus boom of the end of the Cold War >probably won't get to experience anything like this at the conclusion of the Russo-Ukranian War because laws and public opinion have changed
Oldgays will tell you there was a time when Mosins, SKSs, and AKs were cheap. As well as 7.62x39 and 7.62x54r. Norinco AKs, N/OPAPs we're pretty easy to find at like $300-400. Not to mention a lot of that old, wooden, Soviet tech does have an certain appealing aesthetic to it. >you used to be able to buy crates of Mosins for a couple hundred bucks
>you used to be able to buy crates of Mosins for a couple hundred bucks
They were never THAT cheap for us in the commercial market. The lowest I've ever seen them was $79.99. That would put a crate of 12 at about $1,000.
Didn't they use to over those crates of 4 rifles for like $250? They were always those nasty ones covered in cosmoline. They were always hit or miss wether you'd get something neat or a beater.

2)Grass is greener
3)Cheap (or they were, many years ago)
The facination with the beyond shit 7,62x39 round is especially interesting. Like, if Russia or China still had them as their main cartridge this might make "sense" and least from Russophile cope and seethe point. But Russians have dropped 7,62x39mm in 1974, along with the AKM, RPK and RPD. Their special forces retain a number of AKM's, but only because Russian MiC is incapable of effectively suppressing AK74.
>7.62x39 a shit
Nations are still adopting new rifles in the caliber. While 5.45 and 5.8 are superior in most cases, they aren't superior enough to justify scraping current inventory and heavily retooling if you're in any way strapped for cash.
Everything is a regresion to the mean these days. guns, cars, buildings, food, culture. weird 20th century russian designs are interesting because they are foreign solutions to the same problems.
they're all trash
im trans btw
>were cheap
>utilitarian
>wood
>easier to stick your dick in the chamber
Because they used to be what most of /k/ could solely afford. The days of $89 nuggets, $400 wasrs, and ultra cheap spam cans are gone.
Please don't remind me
Why are guns significantly more expensive in general?
Election induced panics.

Cheap, durable, aesthetic, reliable.
>muh 1 MOA red dot laser gucci-
Dosen't matter, a AK will kill you just as dead as a M4A1 SOPMOD.
