Could have spent the money integrating Meteor on a late-block F-15's and saved literal billions. Industrial welfare at its finest, effective developmental timeline and unit cost matches that of F-22 while being an entire generation behind.
As says, its kind of a day late and a dollar short. Compared to other 4.5 gens its decent enough but came out in a time where 5th gens are proliferating. The collaborative nature of the EU means that upgrades don't come in a timely manner because it requires too much consensus before anything gets done. Tranche 4 Eurofighters that finally have AESA radars aren't coming until fricking 2025 and only Germany and Spain will be getting them, meanwhile everyone else around them will have been flying F-35s for almost a decade and everyone that hasn't will be looking at getting Block 4 F-35s.
>everyone else around them will have been flying F-35s for almost a decade
Yeah, on an air force base in the US. Most European countries bought the F35 10 years ago and still aren't flying them in europe
out of all the partnered european countries, only denmark doesnt have any on their soil but they'll take delivery of them later this year, which is still miles better than being shackled to the eurofighter program where they wouldnt be getting a modern version for at least another 2 years.
>only Germany and Spain will be getting them
lmao
Spain is getting a block 0 model; Germany a block 1 model
it's the bong Typhoon that will be best with Captor AESA 2
the same logic could be used for just modernizing the F-4 forever. This might have been acceptable for Germany but most countries in the EF consortium wanted an air superiority fighter not a 4th generation answer to the Iron Pig
Name one thing a Eurofighter does better than a late block F-15. There's no substantive performative gain over Eagle that can be justified by the 18 billion euros spent. It'd be one thing if they rolled out a stealth fighter at the end, but they sure as shit didn't.
Not being a US made plane, Europe's defence industry needs to always be working on the next gen plane while having a current gen in production, otherwise they will lose the capability to build one. You can't just skip a fighter generation and expect to be on top again for the next generation. Its European defence industy policy. Likewise for the US.
Obviously with more funding, tech developments could have come faster, but the truth is that Euro Govts held off on putting known tech into production until absolutely needed - for example, CAPTOR has been hanging fire for years and years until the Russian adventure convinced politicians that a little defence capability is needed
From a technical viewpoint it's the best non-stealth fighter around, and with the bongs' integration of some pretty solid air-to-ground weapons, a multi-role jet without peer.
An F-22 would outfight it in the sky but can't drop the bombs it can
Likewise, F-35 at this point doesn't yet have the weapons it needs to surpass the Typhoon in utility, without internal weapons carriage F-35 loses its advantages of stealth
An F-15 would fall to Meteor
so in terms of the dogfight,
F-22 > F-35 > Typhoon > F-15
but in terms of general utility,
Typhoon > F-35 > F-15 > F-22
as such Typhoon is at least #3 if not #2 best NATO combat jet
>F 15 has the best combat record of any aircraft in history, including all the other aircraft he mentioned >this moronic Black personhomosexual puts it as fourth
>didn't read, spergs his favourite jet
A force of F-22s in 1990 would have wiped the floor, just as a force of Typhoons would have, but that proves nothing in terms of relative technical capability today
>flawless combat record
so has Typhoon, so has F-22
>Gets shot by R-37 400km out.
Having "the best non-stealth" fighter in 2022 is like having the best musket in 1890 or best bolt action in 1955.
They should stop putting any more money into this thing and buy F-35s and either finish their new stealth air superiority frame or just buy the US one. Hell, or even buy the Mitsubishi F-3 or Korean shit if you don't want all US.
The F-35 can't do everything just yet, though it's certainly an excellent strike jet. The Eurofighter fleet has to serve until NGAD / Tempest / whatever is available, and that won't be for some time.
>buy the Mitsubishi F-3 or Korean shit
they're not stealth either, and the Eurofighter probably has a better EW fit.
KF-21 is getting internal weapons. Considering the much higher cost of the Typhoon, both actual costs per unit and per flight hour, and gets timely upgrades (especially now with the export market).
The F-3 is stealth, it just isn't out yet. The 4.5 gen F-3 got canceled, the new one is full 5th gen, autonomous, drone wingman interface, laser interceptors, etc.
Looks a bit like an Su-57 in mock ups, which isn't a bad thing. It's an aesthetic plane, it just is vaporware lol.

It's aesthetic as an F-22 clone. Your Euroshit is ugly and bland.
>F 15 has the best combat record of any aircraft in history, including all the other aircraft he mentioned
the problem with this argument is that the F15s record is old, neither the F22 or Typhon have yet had the chance to engage hostiles A2A and build up a K/D ratio to exceed the F15s
but that just means shits been relatively peaceful, it doesnt mean shit about their relative capabilities as combat aircraft in the modern era
The EF might be the best non stealth fighter around, idc, cause stealth fricks non stealth. And that's said as a hard line no guns frick guns euro. The EF is like the best bolt action rifle in a time the stealth fighters are ARs.
Just like women are more than skin deep right?

its not 'stealth' but its frontal RCS is lower than anything else that isnt 'stealth' anything thats mounting a R37 is gonna be seen by typhoon long before it sees a typhoon, and the R-37 is ging to struggle to hit a typhoon that is aware its incoming, and when i say struggle i mean ~5% hit probability

It's been out for decades are you moronic
Too reliance on US gear is bad for europe MIC.
Without industrial welfare no one would have an MIC
>unit cost matches that of F-22
if this were true all f15s would have been replaced with f22 one-for-one
the same logic could be used for just modernizing the F-4 forever. This might have been acceptable for Germany but most countries in the EF consortium wanted an air superiority fighter not a 4th generation answer to the Iron Pig

I don't think of the Eurofighter
nobody does
Austrian Ministry of Finance does.
you piece of shit
Built for WW3
so outclassed that the eurofighter development nations had to buy F-35s
EF is an air superiority fighter where as the F35 is multirole / Jack of all trades.
The only thing an EF is superior to is an EF export model.
This thing will be left guarding capital cities in the case of an all out mog fight by NATO with Russia/China/other orcs.
F35 isn't replacing Eurofighter in any of the nations who own both. The UK and Italy bought F35 to replace Harrier and Tornado.
All the problems mentioned to this point and valid, but let's focus on what really matters, it's an ugly plane.
It's not that Euros can't make cool fighters, the Mirage is sweet, this just sucks.
Much like a European, vapid trash
competently designed airframe let down a lack of follow-through on development and upgrades
It make me hate G*rman more.
Its the blandest aircraft ever built.
I think it was some sort of multibillion dollar European "statement" to use parts from every major nation in Europe which is moronic in hindsight
How is that any different from the F-35?
The greatest Cold War fighter ever built, long after the Cold War was over.
Obviously with more funding, tech developments could have come faster, but the truth is that Euro Govts held off on putting known tech into production until absolutely needed - for example, CAPTOR has been hanging fire for years and years until the Russian adventure convinced politicians that a little defence capability is needed

so has Typhoon, so has F-22

Eurofighter has decent frontal stealth though moron

front canards are cool
It doesn't look that cool compared to other contemporary fighter jets. Doesn't look cool compared to a lot of older ones, too.
