MM1 is not post apocalyptic. That's Road Warrior.

But it's not post-apocalyptic. It's more like current day US.

so the nukes and oil wars were all after the first movie then?
I'm assuming they had none of the fall of society shit in mind while making the 1st but whatever

Society was beginning to fall apart in the first movie. It's fricking gone in the 2nd, and in the 3rd it's starting to slowly rebuild.

Mad Max one is before the oil wars. The nukes and shit were introduced in Road Warrior, in fact most of the setting lore was

They try to handwave it with canon but the fact is they didn't have the budge to do full-on post apocalyptical wasteland wars and stuff.

mm was never a post apocalyptic film. They just retconned it for the second one. It could be an entirely different film.

Madmax 1 was only set in a sort of shitty, dystopian crime-ridden Australia. It's the second movie that goes full post-apocalypse with it.

      Yes. It’s Porto-apocalyptic.
Things are just slowly getting a little bit less reliable, a little less organized, a little more expensive and hard to find.
SHTF is a fantasy. Mad max is the most accurate depiction of the end of a society.

It's not. The apocalypse is ongoing during Mad Max 1. Society is breaking down.
    Kino as frick setting.

I would put Mad Max in a completely different category, it's too far removed from the sequels to be in any competition with them.
Of the post-apoc ones the rating is 2>4>>>>3.

Really wish Miller didn't drop out of writing the game's plot, it could've been something really special instead of just good.

Very good combat granted it was one of those Batman hand to hand rips but still. The car was lots of fun.

Releasing it on the same day as MGS5 was suicide. Sad irony is that it's the better game.

1 is A near-future dystopian Australia is facing a breakdown of civil order primarily due to widespread oil shortages and ecocide. The berserk motorbike gang member Crawford "Nightrider" Montazano kills a rookie officer of the poorly-funded Main Force Patrol (MFP)—one of the last remaining law enforcement agencies...

People still gotta eat, buy things, have leisure etc during the apocalypse. Your life doesn't just go on pause cause society is collapsing. Do you think in a country at war, that it's like 24/7 PVP free for all and everything else stops? Nah, life keeps going.

It's not proving anything, just providing some cool speculative backstory to the character; does the photo and military medals mean that S&W .44 Mag belonged to Lord Humungous' father/grandfather or was it just looted after the shit hit the fan?

Mad Max is about societal breakdown. People who have only seen the sequels are generally surprised to find out that Max was alive before the apocalypse and that he had to watch as the government fell apart and the gangs took over. And in a way that makes Mad Max a lot scarier than Road Warrior.
