OK I pondered the frames and concluded it couldn't have been a PARM. It was some roadside mine but a different type. We have footage of PARM, it basically launches an RPG rocket that blows up when it hits the vehicle. Whatever this was exploded first, chucking a penetrator at the BMP. Considering the BMP-2 is about 7 meters long whatever hit it was placed almost 50 meters away.

Yeah it makes youre moronation hard not to notice. They both destroy tanks but asides from that they're tactical employment is completely different. NLAW is closet range which is why you saw them all the time used in the packed urban areas of Kiev in the first few months and Jav is a long range weapon better suited for firing at vehicles moving over open fields in Bakmut. That was the original purpose of the javelin, to allow infantry to frick up Soviet tank zerg rushes across open fields of Europe through the Fulda Gal.

Lot more engagements over longer distances these days than at the start of the war, where you saw the most NLAW footage. NLAWs are still very much in use and are especially important in those small towns and villages where you see a lot of "close" range fighting occurring right now.
Javelins are just more effective at the types of ranges these types of Russian assaults are engaged at by Ukrainians in fortified defensive positions in and near major settlements, as well as Ukrainian forces operating more in the tree lines and forward posts.

No, they weren't wiped neither was Azov for that matter. Mariupol was multiple parts of units that got cut off together. Some were rear echelon guys, some were wounded evacuees, some were based there and had rushed back when the war started. It was a bit of a hodgepodge.

Sucks that the last tank got away. It appears that the presumed HEAT mine didn’t get a mission kill. The Javelins are absolutely fricking shit up though, and it looks like there was artillery fire hitting close by.

What even is the counter to having a bunch of infantry 3KM away from you if you have to cross a wide open field?

      Anonymous

Having your own infantry clear the woodlines and IV lines, I guess.

        Anonymous

How would they even remotely get close? In order to do any attack like this you need intense ISR coverage, drone harassment, accurate artillery supressing people ect. Would still take like 10 mins of every guy on a javelin sitting in a hole to be completely suppressed to get within effective range of these guys. Also imagine trying to fight dudes in holes 2 miles out when you’re reliant on Russian thermal optics.

      Anonymous

the javelin would get a kill if the guy didn't use it in direct attack mode

After rewatching the footage, the heat mine did BTFO the BMP. I was thinking of whatever hit the tank at the end, maybe a javelin in direct mode or possibly some other ATGM

      Anonymous

Airpower and artillery have always been the counter to static troops. Even if they have a trench network to survive the explosions, it keeps them suppressed long enough for your guys to get close enough to deal with them as they come out of the shelters. Of course, you need good recon to know when and where to drop your explosives, but that's what airpower, sats, and drones are for.

kornet provides similar capability and they've used it fairly successfully from what i've read. the ukranians are pretty weary of it.

      >attack with their new armor in a month or two
Russia has lost more armour in their offences over the last two or so months than Ukraine has been promised in donations. The amount of MBTs donated to Ukraine is absolutely nothing. As we've seen, a single top attack AGTM will yeet it, regardless. I think people are either going to be shocked or disappointed when Ukraine finally attacks (assuming Zelensky is lying/tricking when he says there won't be an offensive because of lack of ammo, supplies and heavy equipment).

        Anonymous

The thing is Russia has no equivalent to Javelin and western tanks have more sophisticated optics to allow them to standoff further out from enemy positions.

          >I think people are either going to be shocked or disappointed when Ukraine finally attacks
I like how Ukraine had four offensives in this war, each of them was successful but this fifth one will be disappointing because of Russian incompetence

I mean I want Russia pushed out completely of everywhere but I just fear there isn't pure enough numbers to get it done with minimal losses. Short of a Kharkiv tier rout, it'll be messy because - as we have seen with Russian offences - it is incredibly costly attacking defensive positions. While western MBTs should mitigate some problems there just isn't enough for every attacking thrust to be full of them.

Honestly this war should be waking up the western nations to have systems in place for mass production and start cycling up. If we think Russia is testing capacity, then China will be even worse. Then you got nations like France and Spain and Italy who have donated very little compared to their GDP (no, coping about 'EU contribution in monetary aid' isn't what Ukraine needs right now).

Probably not the highest toss ever, but definitely gets points for the pyrotechnical display and overall composition. I'll give that 9/10.

I hope one of those turrets lands on your fricking head one day

he means the one at 2:05 where hey shot it to the front for some reason, else it wouldn't survive.

You can't go handing out 10s like that because then you have nowhere else to go. That's a 9.8

cba. We had at least one thread about it. You'll have to take my word for it.

what difference does it make that these ziggers died this week or early march?

You said stock javelin footage was added. I want your source. Show me the origin of the stock footage

I never said it was stock jav footage. These might have been the actual dudes who got the tank kills we see, and the mines dis the rest. Probably are. I just said that these are not recent losses and the original release was just the drone pov.

Holy frick infantry bros we are so fricking back.
3 decades of subhuman brown warfare made me think tanks are invincible, but after looking at this....
Just imagine two western NATO countries :contested airspace, low artilery concentration and the infantry will just eat these threaded coffins the frick up.
Kek, the jav is also kind of shit, it doesnt even comper to the israelite spike.
We are back bros, the mans war is BACK.

just FYI, combat is several weeks old. It was released before, drone pov, just not as extended and without scenes of the javelin operators before it was just the last 45 seconds of the BTRs being hit.

We also weren't graced by the artistry of Ukie rap at the time.

Why is it the same fricking field in every video?

So why are they driving across a giant open field that has clearly already been struck hundreds of times? Did they expect no one to be there that day?

They tried to attack again in the same area

Sending one tank on suicide mission doesn't attack constitute
