To be honest Ukrainian forces aren't on the offensive and don't have as much equipment all over the place, so even if they were fielding an equal amount of drones you'd see more Russian losses.

In 2022, the US and allies realized that Ukraine needed to adapt quickly, and they started mass deployment of drones. They basically bought up the market for drone units and parts. They also went on a shopping spree buying 3D printers to design custom fits.
After buying up stockpiles, they made backfill orders for more, meaning they'd be the first recipients of new parts and fully assembled drones. Ask any drone enthusiast, prices have rose a lot since the war started.
Russia's drone procurement plan didn't start until Summer 2023, before they were relying on donations from soldiers and the public. The Russian government has problem with both evading sanctions and ramping up while Ukraine already cornered the market a year earlier.
TLDR: early bird gets the worm.

      >They basically bought up the market for drone units and parts.
AFAIK Ukraine didn't receive direct assistance to ramp up their FPV production, in fact they complained that the west didn't have anything similar to disposable sub-500 dollar drones

        Anonymous

Ukraine was buying Chinese drone parts, the west does not make cheap drones. They were able to buy it using US/Euro financial assistance, which created the FPV factories of today.
Russia is trying to replicate it but they don't have the levels Ukraine did because they're early adopters with massive pockets.

It's like expectations: Ukrainian think US drones will make them win but Russia sir force and air defense shoot them down

However in reality the air defense is shooting down both the Ukrainian drones and Russian planes in the cartoon.

Because Ukraine still loses in that scenario.

I thought the expectation is something like:
            > expect airforce will shoot down Ukraine's US drones
            > "reality" is that nothing happens
            > Russian AD battalion shows up 15 days later, presumably having Zhukoved their way through 15 days of drone strikes
            > shoots the airforce down
            > Russian tanks show up (now equally safe from Ukrainian drones and the Russian airforce)
            > crosses the border
            > parks a tank on Ukraine's javelin (which may have misfired)
            > does some boomer version of a floss dance on both Ukraine's army and the Russian airforce

you have to be careful looking at these kind of numbers without context. yes, russia is losing more vehicles than ukraine, however they also have more on the field at any one time and therefore more to lose. plus ukraine is on the defencive where a single bradley could hold a position for example, whereas an mechanised assault requires multiple vehicles. plus being on the defencive means more infantry in trenches and bunkers etc. russia exmpending 10 drones to dismantle a bunker wont come up in the loss statistics the same way ukraine taking out a golf cart would. also this graph is trying to make a point by differenciating drone kills, while forgetting that ATGMs, shells and mines dont have cameras to record the kill.

in short, this graph is almost worthless.

sorry, but this is naive. Even as a defender you don't sit in a trench all day.
You have to bring supplies, rotate troops, repel attacks, go on a counterattack, etc. Also there are different kinds of drones. Surveillance drones spot troop positions and provide coordinates for artillery or attacking units.
You are not invulnerable just because you spend much of your time in an "entrenched position".

Technically Russia lost the war when Finland joined NATO because that was the entire point of invading Ukraine, to stop NATO expansion. An attacking army, even an outrageously incompetent one, will get a few lucky wins and picks up some ground.
After Ukraine ended their failed summer offensive, Russia just went to mindless 'attack endlessly' mode and they're burning through their old Soviet stocks and current population to do so. It's the military equivalent of slowly burning through all of your life savings and mortgaging everything you own so you can say 'look i'm winning at the casinos!'

Also FPV drones arent just used on vehicles. They're also used on men, trenches, fortifications, buildings, and other things. All of which this data doesnt include.

Correct. Ukranians have been mostly an infantry-only force with only light mechanization to move stuff around between fortifications for the better part of a year now. What little mechanized units they still have appear to be held in reserve. Russians have also been largely de-mechanized but they still maintain a significant presence on the battlefield probably due to the requirements of being on the attack. The actual drone ratio isn’t known atm and we can only go on video evidence which for the above-mentioned reason will heavily favor Ukraine.

There's a politics board where people talk about the war, but just post anime pictures all day. Go there and you'll see people who claim this.

Ukraine loses well over 100 vehicles a week? Yikes, that's not sustainable at all

Look at the lists, it's a LOT of SUVs, Vans, and other vehicles.

I was baiting by saying yikes, but that still seems pretty high. Is that within expected range? And is the newest aid package enough to cover it?

          >that still seems pretty high. Is that within expected range?
Any losses are high but on what basis do you think it seems high?
What was your baseline loss rate for low mechanised entrenched peer warfare between third-rate economies?

Ukraine doesn't need to preserve its vehicles so long as they eliminate sufficient Russian vehicles to win attrition and so long as their own crews survive.

Russia has 2.23% of the world's economy. Ukraine's allies have 54%
China and India have 21% between them but they're not aide donors to Russia like the rest of the world are with Ukraine. In fact those are the only two allies of Russia that are even above 1% in world GDP and they're paid-for friends who are making Russia pay extortionate prices in hard currency for everything it gets.
Ukraine will never really run out of vehicles, they'll just make some noise about it when they run low, fall back a few blocks in a village and then the next wave comes in. It's theatre for the plebs so that they understand why we keep fuelling Ukraine's war and don't have to get over there and do it ourselves.

            You forgot Iran.
I've recently read a russian article that they're moving a rare earth factory to china due to sanctions too. New cold war is China + Iran/Russia as nork type crazies. Which is fine, because China is falling by the wayside.

              >You forgot Iran
I excluded them not because they're not allied but because their GDP share is <1%. I just didn't feel like adding up every country that supports Ukraine because it's far too many, I just took the list down to 1% shares and divided that. Below that, it's a rounding error.

              >New cold war is China + Iran/Russia as nork type crazies
Iran can't be ignored, their tech is better than people think but they're tiny and the combination with Russia makes that a losing alliance, Russia, BESTKOREA and Iran will be an albatross around China's neck. It's like that Sarah C Paine idea about growth. Sanctions will hamper those economies over a generation and when the conflict goes hot, their position will be so much worse than it is now.
Not worse in absolute terms, they'll have grown and will have advanced in tech and built new weapons but the gap between them and the nations comprising western civilisation will have grown. Countries inside the world economic system will have advanced much more than the isolated, sanctioned world.
If the war is delayed long enough then it won't happen because the Pariah State Alliance won't be able to make a credible threat and something somewhere will eventually give way under ever increasing pressure and ever worsening shortages.

Iran being paid nearly $200,000 for Shahed drones in Gold Bullions shows just how “trusting” this relationship is.

Well Ukraine lost like 500 APCs up till now so given how long the war lasted, I would expect maybe 3? overall vehicle losses a day
            >Ukraine will never really run out of vehicles
            I hope so

Hard to say what's "expected" but it's always substantially less than Russia's losses. The source in the OP does a daily breakdown of every loss type.

Honestly, it's a coin flip. Good old Benis Garrison occasionally makes a based comic or two, and he seems to be the old blood type of republican who hasn't fully caught the MAGA virus. Who knows what that boomer'll do.

Apparently Google Pixel phones use UTC time for photo filenames, so the "1651" in the filename doesn't indicate anything about his timezone.
