it seems like it was just the right weapon in the right place at the right time. Russian ammo dumps were vulnerable b/c of their shit logistics and ammo handling procedures, so introducing a weapon with the range and accuracy to strike them reliably (targeted using HATO intelligence obv) meant we get a lot of nice webms of fireworks going off. In the future the ruskies will move their dumps back and spread them out more but this will put even more strain on their logistics which will ruin their only effective strategy of werfing 1000s of shells randomly into an area until it looks like the surface of the moon.
That and the reloading is painfully long.
It's funny, apparently even the potatoBlack folk kinda fixed improved on it with their Polonez systems, but Luka still has two years worth of potatoes to peel, so we won't see how effective they really are.

>Build rocket launcher with accuracy of medieval siege weapon >In order to avoid humiliation, label it an "area weapon" as if areas are valid military targets >Get BTFO by human weapons with CEPs of <10m, which allows them to actually hit the target they are aiming for
Yes.
The US notoriously neglected ground-to-ground fires for a good decade or two because of how ubiquituous air support was in the sandpit fights. At some point people realized that you can't just send a fighter-bomber at every single target out there, so someone started reintegrating fires into the Army and lo and behold, it actually works like anyone with half a brain knew it would.
Next up is SHORAD. The moment the US military starts reclaiming those abilities, we'll get propaganda threads on /k/, just like we've had those threads on the HIMARS for the past couple years.
>unproven, untested system
How about no? HIMARS at least got pushed into action in Syria/Iraq. Where have these systems been deployed and used against a modern air enemy?
I should add to my previous post, that the HIMARS also supports combined arms doctrine, as it allows the ground forces to support the air units in combat by targeting enemy IADS in depth. Another aspect that was neglected in the past decades.
Frick off, Leonardo DRS-Black person. Every system is generally unshilled here in /k/ until it's tested.
The HIMARS went through this exact same "scenario." Nobody gave a frick about it, until it got proven in the Near-East, after which shill-threads talking about it started appearing weekly on /k/. Those same threads kept using its combat record as proof of its quality, just as the M-Shorad's Black person-shills are going to keep posting it whenever it gets an actual combat record.
I'll save this fricking thread in my bookmark to post it in the future, just to point out how obvious the US-DOD shilling is.
>unproven, untested system

Literally all of these systems are decades old.
Though I will say the 30mm gun is not quite as cool as the LAV-ADs gun. Even if it shook the chassis apart by firing.
>The US notoriously neglected ground-to-ground fires for a good decade or two because of how ubiquituous air support was in the sandpit fights.
Artillery was active in Afghanistan constantly, wtf are you talking about?
I can’t see this having such an effect against a modern military. Look at Israel fending off hundreds of Palestinian bottle rockets. It should be a cornerstone of good strategy, or at least rapid sead response.
I would separate it into tactical and strategic success. On the tactical side, HIMARS was always going to be good but the pathetic state of the Russian military has turned them into an utterly devastating weapon and the firsthand reports from both sides of their accuracy and power. On the strategic side, these ~20 HIMARS units might be remembered as the turning point of the entire war; as Russia loses their stores of materiel near the front and relocates them farther away their heavy arty will start to peter out and the Ukranians will advance and then the Russians either have to keep scooting their depots back, find a way to prevent or defend against HIMARS attacks (lol, lmao even) or just deal with it and keep fighting in the hope that they can cause unsustainable Ukranian casualties without relying on their typical tactic of "just level the entire forest". It also makes for outstanding propaganda.
Correct, as I see it. Against an actual peer military, the result of HIMARS launches the way that Ukraine is using them would often be limited to the loss of a few hundred rounds of whatever the local C-RAM system uses.
The Millennium Gun creates a cloud of Tungsten cylinders.
If you can't directly hit a flying target because it's too fast or far away you use it's speed against it by making it fly into the projectiles or shrapnel.
In retrospect it was telling that Russia never advertised any new GMLRS systems with the same vitriol as the Su-57 or T-14, despite being known as the MLRS country since WW2
Sure, they're the "MLRS-country," but they are also known as the country with WW2 artillery doctrine, requiring guns and launchers to form up in an open field just to have them all fire on the same position. The Russians still haven't solved how to calculate for gun dispersion, while countries like Finland did it in World War fricking Two.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fire_Correction_Circle
Just the very idea of a "modern" nation relying on WW2-tier artillery doctrine should wake you up to what an absolute shithole it must be.
Interesting, I knew Russia was behind in many aspects but for fricks sake I almost feel bad for them.
Also for all Russia's emphasis on artillery, they're still fricking SHIT at actually supplying it AND they still suck at not wearing down their own artillery barrels from overuse, lol.
Stupid Vatniks never figured out if the Ukrainians knock out their logistics, their artillery is knocked out TOO.
The best way to win an artillery fight is to avoid getting into one and just knock out the other guy's ammo supply system.
>Stupid Vatniks never figured out if the Ukrainians knock out their logistics, their artillery is knocked out TOO.
To be fair, most people don't consider this. Everyone treats logistics like some magical process that will always be there, until it breaks and they're left scrambling and wondering what the frick to do. Pretty much no one on /k/ cared about logistics before this war.
I hoped from the beginning the Russian logistics would break down. It was the only way I could imagine Ukraine stopping the Russians, crippling their overextended supply lines. Without supplies, your ability to attack goes first, then finally your ability to defend.

Honestly though military logistics always fascinated me, just how much fricking coordination was needed. It reminded me of football on steroids, everything on the play having to go perfectly or the whole thing went to hell.
Before the war you had posts about how Russian formations had better, longer ranged artillery and would easily beat US forces in a ground war.
Now we know how to cripple even the Chinese. Annihilate their logistical system.

The scale as well. A column of military vehicles like what Russia sent to Kiev at the beginning of the war would be sucking towns along the way dry of their gas if they relied on civilian infrastructure rather than having their own supply lines. Tanks suck down around 10x as much gas as a tractor trailer, a bit more or less depending on the tank.

Russia's big problem is they're addicted to mass warfare without the competence to pull off mass logistics.
They know the average normie and idiot thinks "tanks, airplanes!" when they think of what's the most important thing in war. So, russia shilled planes, tanks and other shit that looks cool but wil not change a war.

it's called being a clown doubling down on his stupidity.
you could stop but then again you are an autistic tard.
Pretty much this. We're seeing this with Kherson in real-time. It's not the first 96 hours of the war level of logistics collapse, but it's straining Russian logistics to its limits there.
It's a very slow chokehold, and it's not gonna get any better since Ukraine will now soon have 20 HIMARS. With 20 they can begin striking smaller ammo and vehicle dumps. Every night.
Also with the bridges damaged, Kherson's defenders cannot properly resupply.
My guess? They'll say, "Frick orders" and surrender. I don't see the Vatniks deciding to commit mass suicide by letting themselves become trapped with dwindling supplies.
NATO: I know! How about another joke, vatnik?
vatnik: No, I think we’ve had enough of your jokes.
NATO: What do you get...
vatnik: I don’t think so.
NATO: ... when you cross a military that's shit at OPSEC and logistics with an advanced Western artillery system with pin-point accuracy?
vatnik: Call the FSB, Shoigu, call the troll farm!
NATO: I’ll tell you what you get! You get what you fricking deserve!
Probably a bit of both. While seeing Russia's performance has been a massive disappointment, a truck mounted weapon system that can strike about the entire distance that the enemy can handle between stops in their supply lines, then drive away before it can be hit by counter battery fire in the event that the enemy has those capabilities is a ridiculous advantage.
Stage 1: The "Leak". INVINCIBLE SUPERWEAPON """leaked""" to press
Stage 2: The Reaction. Media & /uhg/ trannies all hail the weapon as an invincible doomsday device that Russia stands no chance against. Lots of "sky is falling" and declarations of ukrainian resurgence.
Stage 3: The Interim. Stories start to leak out regarding issues and marginal results. Doesn't get much notice.
Stage 4: The Downgrade. The West quietly states that less will be sent than previously announced, or that the device will have to be modified to the new battlefield conditions (whatever the frick that means).
Stage 5: The Cancellation. The West quietly cancels the device shipment. Stage 1 for new device few months later.

You know why the Russians left Kiev? Because their logistics couldn't supply the damned front in large part from Ukrainian disruption ops. What is HIMARS doing? Severely disrupting Russian logistics. Further, the Russians lost Kharkiv due to Ukrainian pressure and possibly logistical strain. Forcing an opponent to retreat due to your own actions isn't "camping" and is very much "taking back territory".
The problem with your post is that the "you are here" meme only works when the list keeps going to some conclusion. There is no predictable conclusion here because HATO is toying with Russia using Ukraine as a testbed for its various new weapons

Kek your whole northern front collapsed and you got chased all the way back to the Donbas. You've lost almost 5000 vehicles, your flagship has been sunk, you've lost hundreds of senior officers, your defense minister was wounded in action (LMFAO) and might actually be dead or disfigured considering he hasn't been seen since the attack, you can't operate any aircraft behind Ukrainian lines and you're now fighting for control of the same region you had a foothold in since 2014. I'd say those weapons have worked pretty well lol.
somehow the army moved back to belarus intact, instead of being destroyed..you know...like you would expect a defeated army's fate would be.
curiously, they managed to go all the way to the south in donbas.
weird.
Shouldn't you be with the troony lovers and pedos in /chug/?
>intact
It was a massacre, despite Ukraine lacking the mechanized forces to properly pursue them.
Worst of all were the instances of friendly fire, or of frontline elements retreating into minefields laid down by their artillery support.
he meant it was a massacre on the russian army, not civilians, i know its a hard to grasp concept for a vatnik, but sometimes the enemy is an actual army, not civilians.
regarding this massacre the victim was the russian army attacking kiev and in the process losing 30% of its individuals.
I know again, for a vatnik the army after that was still "intact" since getting murdered for a crazy dictator is so common in great mother russia that you have it in your DNA already.

>Intact
Russia was blowing up their own equipment when it broke down when they retreated. That's not an organized retreat that's a rout.
When the T-72 in front of you breaks down so you shell it with the T-72 behind it because you don't have time to send a mechanic to repair it, that means you're running like hell.
That's what a defeated army does.
Russia was defeated in the North being defeated doesn't mean every single soldier was killed because not even Ukraine had enough dead Vatnik storage, but when you can no longer do offensive operations and you realize that the only thing you'll get if you continue attacking is more death without any hopes of success, your operation was defeated.
if equipment was destroyed then how did ukrainians get the infinite tanks from russia?
I thought that ukraine basically captured intact russia's tanks.
which one is it?
so where is the massacre proof? where are the tens of thousands of dead bodies? the immense equipment captured?
lol

you're not getting out of this one, chungus.

ok psycho on the internet, clean up your ideas.
was the russian equipment:
a. destroyed
b. captured by the majestic ukrainian army.
all while the russians with their equipment moved back to belarus and then to the south.

>clean up your ideas
There's nothing to clean up, you're just a completely incompetent ESL. He already stated: >black and white thinking
A good bunch of equipment was left behind simply because the Russians ran out of fuel, like during the Convoy-of-Kyiv saga: >bunch of trucks with nothing but ammunition >so many trucks it becomes over 40 miles long >morons forget to bring fuel with them >convoy just stalls >in winter >two days later the food is running out >refuse to elaborate further >leave
On the other hand we also have tanks where no Ukrainian troops could've been present to account for destroyed tanks they found in the field, strongly suggesting that when someone actually competent was present and the order to retreat came they'd try to make sure that as little as possible was going to fall into Ukrainian hands.
I'm sure it's 6 million.
>6 million
That's the amount of artillery shells you've lost due to Ukrainians blowing up your warehouses. Meanwhile you've lost over 40K soldiers, not counting the wounded or deserted - they're just gone. >inb4 inflated Ukrainian numbers
Not only are they consistent with previous numbers the Ukrainians have published, but considering that whenever they contact Russian families to inform them that their little Vatnik has bitten the dust they always have some sort of proof - yes, I believe them. Besides, what other numbers are there? If the Russian numbers about Ukrainian losses in the first couple _weeks_ were true the entirety of the Ukrainian army would be fighting with sticks and stones by now. >inb4 muh HATO supplies
The Ukrainians mostly got ammunition. Heavier systems like HIMARS are deployed in small numbers only:
https://www.bundesregierung.de/breg-en/news/military-support-ukraine-2054992 >8 mobile ground surveillance radars >3 Panzerhaubitzen 2000 >3 multiple rocket launchers MARS with ammunition >3 Armoured Recovery Vehicles*
But also >100,000 hand grenades >7.944 man-portable anti-tank weapons RGW 90 Matador

False Dilemma Fallacy, you're saying it has to be 100% destroyed or 100% captured.
>the attack on Kyiv failed to take the city but they didn't take any casualties, everyone retreated safely and they're all just fine and we'll be hearing from them any day now, they're just busy you see, phone signal is bad over there and they have to be careful about communication

you're trying to strawman me, which isn't nice.
of course there were some casualties.
I never said they were not.
probably a marginal group.
you're the one with the maximalist rhetoric.
that it was the masscare and no one made it out alive.
Forcing an opponent to retreat due to your own actions isn't "camping" and is very much "taking back territory".
they left (not masscared, I'm glad you agree) because the south was secured.

>not masscared, I'm glad you agree
Nice strawman; nobody claimed this. >because the south was secured
Holy cope. You don't use large amounts of VDV, Russia's modern armor, and significant numbers of Russia's limited contract forces in a feint. Kiev was an utter rout and embarrassing failure of the Russian military.
We were running on the assumption russian artillery would be accurate. Turns out it's not and that's why himars looks like space tech because it actually hits what it aims for.
While we're on the topic of logistics, how the frick has the US been so good at it since WW2?? Even back then they had dedicated refrigerated ships specifically to get ice cream to soldiers in the Pacific
That and sheer economics of scale. We caught on that logistics win wars, and grew to prize it in spite of buttholes like Heinlein mocking it. I like "Starship Troopers" but it always shafted Logistics. You cannot fight a war against "Muh Bugs" without a supply chain.
Because the us despite its faults has an amazing beauracracy that gives two shots about making sure everysoldier has boots , ammo, and a toothbrush. Why? Because every single one of those is produced by government contract by a business that the government paid for and if they pay for a fricking burger king truck it better as frick be able to get to frick nowhere Afghanistan by air or the taxpayer will come asking questions
>supposed to be a diss >shows American air superiority and logistics their soldiers can even get fresh burgers on the other side of the globe while Russians eat expired MREs 20km from home
If you are protected by two of the biggest oceans on earth while having almost unlimited resources, it is really not hard plopping up factories in random open fields without having to be worried about them getting bombed or supply chains disrupted by combos of resource strains/infrastructure destruction/key factories burning down.
Americans tend to forget the US is the odd one here. It is the only country that can still do a full scale invasion/occupation everywhere on this planet for spreading them freedoms. Europeans dont see the need for that, since no colonies anymore. If they ever need some (extra) airlift capability, they can use some pooled planes under European air transport command and from NATO. Europeans use road and rail to move their stuff around on the continent and thats perfectly fine
Russian infrastructure wasn't threatened before the invasion, they have basically every resource and even now the only stuff threatened is right on the Ukrainian border. And yet Russian logistics are terrible.
>it is really not hard plopping up factories in random open fields without having to be worried about them getting bombed or supply chains disrupted by combos of resource strains/infrastructure destruction/key factories burning down.
That's not why we're good at logistics, that's BECAUSE we're good at logistics.
>muh logistics!
LMAO ofcoarse Amerifatts would ship ice creamover seas instead of war winning equipment, thats why you lost Afghanistan, and Why russias winning in Ukraine.
With this most recent achievement, fate has, in a single stroke, marked the decline of the West and spelled a new era of wondrous prosperity and global peace for the Russian bear, which promises to stand in sharp contrast to the historically inconvenient ascent of Western democracy and its cruel limitations on the oligarchs of the world. The blessings of sugar payment plans, Slava class submersible cruisers, quantum Mach 1000 mallbuster missiles, Poseidon tsunami torpedo mockups, and S-400 self-homing air defense systems will be the instruments by which Russia affirms its noble stewardship of 21st century world politics and offers non-Western oligarchs a different option: an illiberal alternative to the hassles of Western democracy and the opportunity for a more profitable and secure multilateralism
Because you have like 2 logistics soldiers for every 1 fighting soldier. Back in Nam it was like 5 logistics for every 1 fighting.
The US likes logistics.
>be fat American who likes burger >build your whole conception of war to be based around all soldiers getting burger >turns out this is the Uber-secret method for winning all wars >worlddomination.exe
no, it's not just a truck launching small rockets.
it's a fricking wonder weapon!
russia doesn't have this technology!
himars will kill putin.
slava ukraiiiini!
Beyond the rockets themselves, HIMARS' brilliance is in the loading mechanism, while you need something that preferable has a crane of sorts to lug the cassettes around the launcher itself can pick them up and load itself.
Seriously /k/, how fricking stupid is this? The Vatniks can barely advance in the East NOW, and they want to try to take over the entire country again?
They are confident that with the UK having it's regularly scheduled political crysis and vatnik assets getting ready to implode Italy, the west will finally kneel and let Ukraine be taken.
Agreed with the above anon, it was the exact right weapon at the exact right time. I really wasn't expecting this level of impact. I've taken a "doubtful till proven" view of all of these weapons we've sent their way. The NLAWs and Javelins did pretty well in the early stages because Russians constantly Leeroy'd big armored columns through thin roads and into towns and cities. The M777s didn't do much because by that time Russian doctrine had switched to mass artillery spam by longer range MLRS and air strikes.
But this really is exactly what they needed, and i'm not sure what the Russian counter will be. Obviously they need to rethink logistics, but there will be transition paints even if they find a solution. And that solution will probably be worse than the pre-HIMARS setup of just having big ass depots with everything nearish to the front.
>Obviously they need to rethink logistics
How much can they really do though? They couldn't even get tanks to Kiev without their logistics imploding, and that's also about the effective range of HIMARS with the rockets Ukraine is being supplied with.
>keep bombing all russian ammo depots and/or make them unreliable and they cant shell the country into submission anymore like in severodonetsk
i just realized how golden this strat is in stalling them for so long
Russians are overconfident idiots. They thought, "Let's just shell them all the time! They'll never ask the West for a weapon that can wipe out our logistics!"
if the west keeps feeding them HIMARS then they have basically snuffed out any hope for a major russian offensive for the forseeable future, the real hard part of the war is taking back the occupied territories since it has been fortified for a few months now and the russians are doing everything to secure them into the federation proper
The problem for Russia in the occupied territories is the same problem it faces on everything. With its logistics being shot to hell, it doesn't have the supplies to defend for long.
Feeding them HIMARS seems to be the winning solution, but Ukraine and the whole of the civilized world just needs to hope that the US can train Ukrainian operators to use HIMARS fast enough for the pressure to be maintained. Eventually Russia's top brass might just completely say frick it and order the whole military to advance anyways even while it's raining missiles, but should Ukraine pressure them long enough for the US to complete more training sessions, that rain will become a lot thicker and more frequent. It may very well completely shut down Russia should Ukraine have enough in their possession unless Russia gets its Air Force together, which is a GIGANTIC if at this point.
Explain to him the Russians are too moronic for that. Or is he one of those Russians living in a western country and spends all day watching Russian propaganda?
Russian shills are pathetic. I honestly hope this guy actually is Russian or at least a paid shill, because if he's a s*rb and doing it for free, then it's just sad.
This weapon is extremely effective /because/ Russian airpower is pathetic. If they had air supremacy they'd be all blown up in a week, something most analysts were accounting for when downplaying them. They aren't even this amazing super weapon, they are just being allowed to operate unhindered.
It would be like if the US sent 30 Abrams and the Russians had no effective anti-tank weapons.
Can pantsir and Tor intercept the rockets that Ukrainians at mach 2.5?? I don't know all the types of rockets by hand because there are too many.
Using s400 would be self defeating considering the cost of sucj missiles
Yes.
Certainly the latter. No one really thought HIMARS was shit; but most of us didn't realize just how abysmally shit Russia was.
anyone with a basic grasp on history knew russia was shit
it seems like it was just the right weapon in the right place at the right time.
>HATO
Пидopкaшкa aaaaa?
Reminder that HIMARS is what Smerch always wanted to be.
isn't problem of smerch just lack of ruskie having any decent rockets unlike himars rather than the launcher itself?
That and the reloading is painfully long.
It's funny, apparently even the potatoBlack folk kinda fixed improved on it with their Polonez systems, but Luka still has two years worth of potatoes to peel, so we won't see how effective they really are.
smerch destroys whole areas
puny himars can barely poke a hole in pavement
I cannot wait to hear that he gets the "useful idiot" treatment (RPO rocket to the face)

if ii is an area weapon then why do you care if it's 50 meters to the left or to the right?
literal clown post.
ukraine was trained by nato and it's a homofest army camping in cities and using civilians as human shields.
continually loses city by city.
once the industrial fortified cities will be taken then the whole ukraine project will crumble.
With what fricking supplies Vatnik? You can't do SHIT without supplies.
there no supplies because you say so.
this is your whole cope.
that the russian army's logistics is in two warehouses in south ukraine.
there are*
Do you have any idea how many ammo depots the Ukrainians have wiped out, lol?
I'm sure it's 6 million.
Probably about 25.
all of russia's logistics lie in 25 warehouses.
makes sense.
>and it's a homofest
So is the Russian army, not an argument
>camping in cities and using civilians as human shields
Welcome to the reality of war. Never bothered you raping neanderthals in the past, so why does it now?
you clowns post the same captures from a homosexual clip filmed in ukraine.
sad
magically russia continues to advance.
how does that work?
what is the official cep of smerch?
can you provide a link:?
it's an area weapon. it kills everything in the perimeter.
the guy in the picture is probably dead and buried by now.
ukraine loses 200 soldiers a day. and 800 wounded.
Russia hasn't advanced since July 1st. While the Ukraine as made small bite and hold advances on them
russia never advanced. it's actually the ukrainians advancing towards moscow right now.
the banned russian media brainwashed the west into thinking that russia invaded when actually ukraine is fighting inside russia proper.
Ok you deranged weirdo
take you medication, transvestite.

you favor transexualism.
where is the lie?
You're the only person to even mention it ITT you colossal homosexual

lol
see
you should test your theory.
go to moscow and tell them that you are a homosexual ass rapist.
tell me what happened to you afterwards.
the FSIN hires you
Is it better to talk about it, or actually do it? Why do Russian's search for troony porn so much, if they're against trannies?
they do it to spite you, isn't it obvious?
I'm not Russian, though?
you are in spirit
Yes, yes. Just out of spite.
>transvestite
Means you wear the opposite sex's clothes but you still identify as your birth sex.
>transexualism
Means you are attracted to transgender people. You cannot change your sex, but you can your gender. So the term is transgenderism.
If you're gonna shitpost, do it right.
you're the expert, sissy bimbo homosexual muttman.

>you're the expert
But I'm not Russian?
Shouldn't you be with the troony lovers and pedos in /chug/?
>it's an area weapon.
great if you want to erase a town or shut-down a huge industrial complex. but it's really fricking ineffective for everything else.
to illustrate:
>know enemy high value mobile element is roughly in a 1km2 area
morons:
>get a whole rocket artillery brigade
>haul truck after truck of rockets
>fire 1000 rockets
>hundreds of man-hours and millions of dollars
normal people:
>send a scout element to find it
>fire one pgm
>10 man-hours and few thousand dollars
yeah, when you want to kill camper infested cities you just break a few windows.
makes sense.
so russias plan is just to raze town after town? just a few problems with that (setting aside morals, since i know you are completely incapable of comprehending what that even means:)
>ukraine has an army capable of maneuver
>your already strained logistics would not even be close to being able to pull that off
>it will cost you any remaining sympathy and good-will left
>you would destroy what you fought the war about in the first place, the west can afford a 1 trillion marshall plan after the war, can you?
>while you're busy doing that said ukrainian army would not just stand by
>you clowns post the same captures from a homosexual clip filmed in ukraine.
sad
What's picrel then? Are you gonna rant that the Moscow Times are biased against Russia too? Or that the Union of the Committees of Soldiers' Mothers of Russia are all CIA agents in disguise that have been running a campaign to paint Russia's army as a den of homosexual prostitution since 2007?
do you even know who owns the moscow times? :))
Russia ground down their own army taking a city of 100,000. Everything you are posting is delusion
>Build rocket launcher with accuracy of medieval siege weapon
>In order to avoid humiliation, label it an "area weapon" as if areas are valid military targets
>Get BTFO by human weapons with CEPs of <10m, which allows them to actually hit the target they are aiming for
Never change, churka
>why do you care if it's 50 meters to the left or to the right?
if the rockets had a proper guidance system SMERCH would be fearsome
I think SHORAD is pretty decently covered at the moment.
>unproven, untested system
How about no? HIMARS at least got pushed into action in Syria/Iraq. Where have these systems been deployed and used against a modern air enemy?
I should add to my previous post, that the HIMARS also supports combined arms doctrine, as it allows the ground forces to support the air units in combat by targeting enemy IADS in depth. Another aspect that was neglected in the past decades.
>unproven, untested
reformBlack person/vatnik detected, every system is untested until it isn't.
I'll save this fricking thread in my bookmark to post it in the future, just to point out how obvious the US-DOD shilling is.
but this thread is going to disappear in a day or two at the most, you aren't going to get the opportunity to see SHORAD deployed in that time
> CDI
Ancient Libertarian "think tank" that has always been against spending anything on new weapons.
Get out.
Get fricked butthole
they moved the launcher from a humvee to a stryker. it's old as shit
Its not even close to the same system. The only thing they have in common is the stinger missle, and not even the same varient.
>unproven untested
>30mm chaingun
>Hellfire missiles
>Stinger launcher
>stryker
Literally all of these systems are decades old.
Though I will say the 30mm gun is not quite as cool as the LAV-ADs gun. Even if it shook the chassis apart by firing.
>The US notoriously neglected ground-to-ground fires for a good decade or two because of how ubiquituous air support was in the sandpit fights.
Artillery was active in Afghanistan constantly, wtf are you talking about?
>when the idf alarm is cut off by the out going announcement
Against an actual peer military, the result of HIMARS launches the way that Ukraine is using them would often be limited to the loss of a few hundred rounds of whatever the local C-RAM system uses.
>thinks C-RAM can defend against high velocity MLRS
Israel shoots down Grad rockets on a regular basis. Grads are faster than Himars.
>Thinks it can't
The Millennium Gun creates a cloud of Tungsten cylinders.
If you can't directly hit a flying target because it's too fast or far away you use it's speed against it by making it fly into the projectiles or shrapnel.
Send ninety kilograms of explosives at a distance of eighty kilometres and spread would be only three meters.
Such accuracy vatBlack folk is called space magic.
I haven't been paying attention to the war for a bit, what has the HIMARS been up to lately
Look how fast your guns went silent Vatnik.
>operational pause after taking severodonetk and lisichanks
>Look how fast your guns went silent Vatnik.
>Operational pause
Except the pause happened AFTER the Twin Cities were turned to rubble and BEFORE the HIMARS kicked into high gear.
It was only supposed to last 10 fricking days.
weren't those trucks supposed to be used in the grand failed kherson counteroffensive?
if you're implying that russia has no ammo left then why isn't the ukrainian army taking back the territory in donbas?
>Failed counteroffensive
Tell me, how long can Russians hold out without a supply chain that WORKS?
if it will ever happen then we'll know.
but until then the ukrainians have to stop camping in cities. and attack.
who is dennis, your boyfriend?
>operational pause
>why u no attack??

This is how you tell it's not a paid shill, just an actual moron
>if you are rendered incapable of attacking, just say you are taking a rest and don't feel like attacking right now
>if you are forced to retreat, just say you never wanted to attack there any way, it was merely a ruse
>if you shit yourself in public, just say you never wanted control over your sphincter muscles, you are focusing your efforts on renal matters
This type of propaganda only works in Russia. Everyone outside sees right through it.

I'm not mad, I'm reminding you that everyone is aware you are lying.

Russia's military reputation has died an unpleasant death in a Ukrainian bog, the greatest threat to Europe turned out to be about as strong as the poorest country in Europe. Why would I be mad? Honestly quite happy with it and hope we send more help.

Everything. The Kherson bridges, the warehouses, the supplies, the conscripts - absolutely everything is blown up.
The only advantage the Russians have right now is that due to decades of Dedovshchina they're fighting on home turf now.

yeah, I'm sure that non gays are free.
Why are Russians so needy to call everyone gay when their army is notorious for raping 10% of its recruits and causing 5% of them to become outright prostitutes getting pimped out by their superior officers? It only costs you 50 bucks to literally frick Russia's army up the ass in Moscow.

Naww, just playing Roguetech at the moment and the AI takes a while to go through its turns so I like to tab out and read a bit about guns before I tab back in.

No man's ass is to be found
They're all fricking, they're all fricking,
Dogs are fricked, I wouldn't be surprised if they were children!
What's there to talk about?
The word "gay" is suddenly considered decent!
Russia's my only outlet!
Here a man's anus is a dickless place!
We're the hero country, the messiah country!
Only our people bring goodness to this mortal world ....
Suck your lumpy dicks!
And take big dicks in your anus,
But honor and nobility our fathers bequeathed us,
And let our anuses always be pristine tight.
I'm Russian! I was born to bust ass.
I was born to be a hero and carry the world with me.
But in order to have peace, you have to win
And those who oppose it, you have to give 'em the dick
You don't want to live like a human being, brother
Get your mouth ready to take a dick
We'll punish you in the mouth in a fatherly way
And frick you in the ass a little bit
Why is it that I find dozens of articles from Russian sources about Russia's conscripts getting raped whenever I type "state of the Russian army" into google?
Because Russian conscripts are both raped by the Russian and the Ukrainian armies. Their only purpose is to be raped.
It doesn't work in Russia. It only works on subhumans, regardless of whethere they are in Russia or without.

this guy is so ugly inside, im not even mad at him.
I want to comfort him. Be the friend/brother for him he never had.
Honestly though military logistics always fascinated me, just how much fricking coordination was needed. It reminded me of football on steroids, everything on the play having to go perfectly or the whole thing went to hell.
Now we know how to cripple even the Chinese. Annihilate their logistical system.
>NOW we know
no, everyone has always been aware that destroying an enemy's supplies hurts them. there's a whole chapter about it in the art of war, a chinese book written thousands of years ago
as we all know, chinese are masters of war.
Are you mentally moronic?
>"I'm the first person to ever come up with this idea!"
>"actually, the chinese (and everyone else) already knew about it thousands of years ago"
>"lmao who cares, the chinese are shit at war, why would I take their advice?"
Honestly in a war, who would have won? The Chinese Dynasties or the Muslim Caliphates?
It depends hugely on which of these, when, and where they were fighting. Both would have looked totally different if they bordered the other anyway.
Tang Dynasty vs Abbasid Caliphate. They're the only ones who fought (Battle of Talas).
Full-scale war this time.
In that battle, China lost BTW, lol. They got sold out by allies who defected to the Abbasids.
China has literally never won a war, it even manages to lose its civil wars somehow. No, they didn't beat Japan. Imperials basically abandoned them to die.
China's big problem was that it was extremely elitist compared to the Muslim empires, which were more egalitarian. And their merit exam system was designed for PENCIL-PUSHERS, not drafted troops.
>quoting ching chong as experts of war
>gets btfo
>yeah but the tactic is good hurr durr
then you don't need to brag about reading a chinese pamphlet, moron. that's the point.
>has no arguments, resorts to mindless ramblings
>just how much fricking coordination was needed.
They're all about APPEARING strong.
They know the average normie and idiot thinks "tanks, airplanes!" when they think of what's the most important thing in war. So, russia shilled planes, tanks and other shit that looks cool but wil not change a war.
No one outside of people "in the know" would give a flying frick about a boring new artillery system
Russians are fricking idiots who have no concept of a simple axiom.
>"You run out of supplies, you can't fight anymore."
Ukraine takes out the supply system, and Russia's entire house of military cards collapses.
>russia will give up any day now!
Oh, what happened to the cope paint up north? Pray tell, where did it go?
>in my opinion russia lost the battle of kyiv on purpose as a joke
ok, good stuff
Cheer up, they're gonna try again like fricking morons.

>"Let's move our depots out of range while charging to Kyiv! Nothing will go wrong! Our supply lines will be 7 hours long!"

talk about being ridiculous. :))
Yeah, it's called "being right".

hahahaha. Get it, It's a baitpost
I don't see the Vatniks deciding to commit mass suicide by letting themselves become trapped with dwindling supplies.
normies think rocket artillery is boring until they see it firing because it just looks like a normal truck until the missile massacre starts
Underrated post.
Russia's defeat is inevitable. As the Russians are forced to pull back, the HIMARS will begin to move forward. It's a vicious cycle.
The 5 stages of ukrainian wunderwaffe:

It would be so easy to verify, yet you fall for Russian disinformation time and time again.
>losing to this
Embarrassing for Russia
russia has been winning for the start.
ukrainians just camp in the cities.
Russia literally doesn't have a future because they've shown how pathetic they are in this war.
Word of advice Russia. Don't do invasions if you fricking suck at them.
This whole "Blow everything up" shit you do only works if your logistical system isn't annihilated.
>logistical system isn't annihilated
is this the new cope?
obvious question arises: why aren't the campers taking back the territory?
You mean like how they retook the territory north of Kiev and the territory of Kharkiv? Are you daft?
they didn't fight in kiev, though.
the russians came.
and the russians left.
there was no ukrainian counteroffensive.
in kharkov russians are still where they were.
Forcing an opponent to retreat due to your own actions isn't "camping" and is very much "taking back territory".
>ukrainians just camp in the cities.
And you get pushed off it repeatedly. Embarrassing
You don't see Americans whining like this about Fallujah
The problem with your post is that the "you are here" meme only works when the list keeps going to some conclusion. There is no predictable conclusion here because HATO is toying with Russia using Ukraine as a testbed for its various new weapons
nato has been arming and training ukraine for 8 years.
as a result ukraine is losing.

I'd say those weapons have worked pretty well lol.
somehow the army moved back to belarus intact, instead of being destroyed..you know...like you would expect a defeated army's fate would be.
curiously, they managed to go all the way to the south in donbas.
weird.
shouldn't you?

>intact
It was a massacre, despite Ukraine lacking the mechanized forces to properly pursue them.
Worst of all were the instances of friendly fire, or of frontline elements retreating into minefields laid down by their artillery support.
I mean, the only massacre you Black folk b***h is bucha. is that where the russians lost??
he meant it was a massacre on the russian army, not civilians, i know its a hard to grasp concept for a vatnik, but sometimes the enemy is an actual army, not civilians.
regarding this massacre the victim was the russian army attacking kiev and in the process losing 30% of its individuals.
I know again, for a vatnik the army after that was still "intact" since getting murdered for a crazy dictator is so common in great mother russia that you have it in your DNA already.
>the victim was the russian army
>it's YOUR fault I have to beat you for stepping outside the kitchen
You're Russian all right.

I thought that ukraine basically captured intact russia's tanks.
which one is it?
so where is the massacre proof? where are the tens of thousands of dead bodies? the immense equipment captured?
lol
>is delusional
>calls the other delusional in order to claim sanity
you're not getting out of this one, chungus.
>equipment must be all destroyed or all captured, it couldn't possibly be some of each
In psychiatry this is referred to as black and white thinking, and is one of the primary symptoms of autism
ok psycho on the internet, clean up your ideas.
was the russian equipment:
a. destroyed
b. captured by the majestic ukrainian army.
all while the russians with their equipment moved back to belarus and then to the south.
I mean, do you expect me to take you seriously, transvestite?
>clean up your ideas
There's nothing to clean up, you're just a completely incompetent ESL. He already stated:
>black and white thinking
A good bunch of equipment was left behind simply because the Russians ran out of fuel, like during the Convoy-of-Kyiv saga:
>bunch of trucks with nothing but ammunition
>so many trucks it becomes over 40 miles long
>morons forget to bring fuel with them
>convoy just stalls
>in winter
>two days later the food is running out
>refuse to elaborate further
>leave
On the other hand we also have tanks where no Ukrainian troops could've been present to account for destroyed tanks they found in the field, strongly suggesting that when someone actually competent was present and the order to retreat came they'd try to make sure that as little as possible was going to fall into Ukrainian hands.
Heavier systems like HIMARS are deployed in small numbers only:
https://www.bundesregierung.de/breg-en/news/military-support-ukraine-2054992
>8 mobile ground surveillance radars
>3 Panzerhaubitzen 2000
>3 multiple rocket launchers MARS with ammunition
>3 Armoured Recovery Vehicles*
But also
>100,000 hand grenades
>7.944 man-portable anti-tank weapons RGW 90 Matador
False Dilemma Fallacy, you're saying it has to be 100% destroyed or 100% captured.
please stop replying to this gayot, i think the gets payed by (you)s.
>if you are forced to retreat from your objective but some of you escape, it wasn't a defeat

>but some of you escape

>the attack on Kyiv failed to take the city but they didn't take any casualties, everyone retreated safely and they're all just fine and we'll be hearing from them any day now, they're just busy you see, phone signal is bad over there and they have to be careful about communication
It's starting to sound like you knew someone involved and you can't accept they're dead

Before the war you had posts about how Russian formations had better, longer ranged artillery and would easily beat US forces in a ground war.
>Russian formations had better, longer ranged artillery
they do, they just have no idea how to use it apparently
We were running on the assumption russian artillery would be accurate. Turns out it's not and that's why himars looks like space tech because it actually hits what it aims for.
While we're on the topic of logistics, how the frick has the US been so good at it since WW2?? Even back then they had dedicated refrigerated ships specifically to get ice cream to soldiers in the Pacific
Basically:
Addendum
o sayyyy can you shaaart
in loocaaallll walmaaaarrrt
>supposed to be a diss
>shows American air superiority and logistics their soldiers can even get fresh burgers on the other side of the globe while Russians eat expired MREs 20km from home
I always see people post this like it's bad. That's awesome. We're so fricking powerful we can just ship a whole ass burger truck by air for shits.
Having two oceans to protect the mainland keeps you from having to worry about your shit getting blown up so you can focus on ice cream ships.
Which soldier could be in better mood, the one with burger and ice cream or the one with a letter to loot ukraine?
If you are protected by two of the biggest oceans on earth while having almost unlimited resources, it is really not hard plopping up factories in random open fields without having to be worried about them getting bombed or supply chains disrupted by combos of resource strains/infrastructure destruction/key factories burning down.
Which is why Europe's lack of logistic ability puzzles me. It should be more important to them.
Pic unrelated.
That's not why we're good at logistics, that's BECAUSE we're good at logistics.
winning WW2 kinda helps.
If Germany won WW2, they too would have great logistics with hubs all over the world
They weren't just trucking ice cream in, they were making it in converted concrete-making barges
nothing works up an appetite for ice cream like a huge pile of jap corpses
>muh logistics!
LMAO ofcoarse Amerifatts would ship ice creamover seas instead of war winning equipment, thats why you lost Afghanistan, and Why russias winning in Ukraine.
Impressive.
The US likes logistics.
>be fat American who likes burger
>build your whole conception of war to be based around all soldiers getting burger
>turns out this is the Uber-secret method for winning all wars

Russia is overrated
HIMARS is working exactly as advertised (long range and accurate missiles).
mobile long range, high precisions firepower meets the worlds most over-centralized and archaic army and logistics. It is a match made in heaven.
The reality is that Himars is overrated as frick
It's just a crappy gmlrs
no, it's not just a truck launching small rockets.
it's a fricking wonder weapon!
russia doesn't have this technology!
himars will kill putin.
slava ukraiiiini!
>/pol/acks start posting pride parades
Ok, don't care, how does that make any place with pride parades worse than russia
Beyond the rockets themselves, HIMARS' brilliance is in the loading mechanism, while you need something that preferable has a crane of sorts to lug the cassettes around the launcher itself can pick them up and load itself.
M270 ATACMS would literally blow anything the russians have to pieces.
But washington doesn't want the ukrainians to have the upper hand
Russia announces goal is yet AGAIN REGIME CHANGE, lol.
So much for the Russian military now.
https://www.anews.com.tr/world/2022/07/24/lavrov-confirms-moscows-plans-for-regime-change-in-ukraine
You just know the Ukrainians are going to make a primitive little HIMARS of their own, eventually. It'll be cute.
They already made the Uragan technical, you are too late.
(it's a pickup truck with 3 MRLS pipes)
I'm so glad the Ukraine War brought Europe the Technical concept. Technicals are far too much fun to confine to Africa and the Middle East.
>keep bombing all russian ammo depots and/or make them unreliable and they cant shell the country into submission anymore like in severodonetsk
i just realized how golden this strat is in stalling them for so long
Russians are overconfident idiots. They thought, "Let's just shell them all the time! They'll never ask the West for a weapon that can wipe out our logistics!"
Russia's out of tricks.
>Russia's out of tricks.
They still have 6000 nukes they should think about testing though
Nukes aren't a trick. They're basically an admittance of defeat at this point, since it means they wouldn't be able to win any other conventional way.
Why aren't nukes flying then? Russians are just pathetic.
>WE NOOOK, NOOOK OOOK OOOK BANAN
These nuclear threats were boring months ago putin
if the west keeps feeding them HIMARS then they have basically snuffed out any hope for a major russian offensive for the forseeable future, the real hard part of the war is taking back the occupied territories since it has been fortified for a few months now and the russians are doing everything to secure them into the federation proper
It may very well completely shut down Russia should Ukraine have enough in their possession unless Russia gets its Air Force together, which is a GIGANTIC if at this point.
so ummm where is the russian air force supposed to be to bomb this thing when its pummeling their offensive capability?
Boy, stirred up some vatBlack person shills KEK.
