So they've made the 92 you crybabies have been asking for. The safety isn't on the slide so you your mongoloid hands can't "accidentally engage the safety" somehow. It's got a mount for moronic tiny red dots. It's got a thin grip suitable for your soft, supple, 12 year old girl hands. It's even got a mounting rail for your olight.

You're gonna buy one, right?

That safety is EASIER to engage than the typical 93 safety. It's 1911 style, which can be accidentally be bumped up and ON under recoil. The regular 92 safety is high up and is in the OFF/FIRE position when UP. You are gay and moronic.

The slide mounted safety was fine when they started getting to the point where it was a bit more upswept in the fire position so you couldn't inadvertently engaged the safety while racking the slide. Arguably it was fine before then, but blame 1911 autists who couldn't adapt to a slightly different motion on a different platform.

The original Beretta 92 slide mounted safety is worked just like a 1911 safety, watch the Matt fanfare podcast with Ernest Langdon he goes into detail and demos it. People are just ignorant and lazy don't look up info on anything especially if it's not a new thing

It's not about sweeping it off safe that works just fine, it's about the potential to inadvertently put the gun on safe during an immediate action drill or a slingshot method reload.

Works fine on almost every other pistol. It was a hilariously trivially simple design change and yet they let the problem fester for decades instead of correcting it like the did with the locking block issue.

No, it doesn't. Even if there isn't a control lever in the way, there's still the whole rest of the gun, forcing you to pinch onto it from some awkward angle.

Almost everyone used to shit on Berettas here before Langdon made it cool to own one again.

they levelled it out on the M9A4 for some raisin

          Anonymous

Doesn't the A4 ship with a dewiener-only lever by default? The upswept safety was to keep you from unknowingly turning the gun off, which obviously isn't an issue on a non-safety model.

            Anonymous

the upswept safety was only upswept when it was turned off, otherwise it was pointed downward. they canted it up slightly above 180 degrees so your thumb wouldn't push the safety lever back DOWN and put the gun on safe when you're trying to load a round into the chamber.

the M9A3s shipped with the upswept safety that locks down and also dewieners, whereas M9A4 is a "G-code" and is springloaded so it only dewieners; you cannot lock/switch it down into a "safe" mode ever

they sell conversion kits so you can change M9A3s to the dewienerer only mode; i think they got rid of the upswept safety because the lever is now spring-loaded, meaning it can't stay in "accidentally safe" mode ever; most you'd do is dewiener the gun after putting a round in the chamber, but it's a DA/SA trigger so it matters not and actually increases killing power

Barrel weight matters, attaching a heavy comp to a 92 threaded barrel or suppressor impacts reliability and you have to use lower weight springs to mitigate it. I guess it's reliable once you use the right springs.

Taurus did the frame mounted 1911 style safety years ago, and I'd say that frame mounted 1911 style is better if you're carrying wienered and locked, but why would you ever carry wienered and locked?
wienered and Locked is ideal for single action guns with light triggers like the 1911, the 210, or the P-35; wienered and locked in a double action is military grade moronation.
The ideal 92 fire control schema is the 92G. Thankfully the conversion for a regular FS or M9 is just $67.

Further more, of all DA/SA guns the 92/PX4 (honorable mention S&W) has the best controls. Mounted on the slide out of the way of your hand and the slide release. There is no tactical need to have a big frick off dewienerer lever for your thumb like the 92GTS or HK. You only need to dewiener when you’re done shooting, the slide is the perfect place for it, it can still be operated by the firing hand without shifting the grip that much or simply with the other hand.

Once the original locking block breaks or is replaced, all subsequent locking blocks last shorter round counts as the slide lugs wear unevenly right to left. And if they kept replacing them with Gen 1 locking blocks and not the Gen 3 they’re doomed for failure. I think they also buy 3rd party locking blocks too and not Beretta made ones but that could be wrong, they did switch to 3rd party magazines that got raped by sand due to their shittier finish
