Yeah, they’ve been around for a while and are sort of everyone’s go-to for fabrics. Their kits are pretty good, but the lack of instructions is kind of weird. Like the kits are geared toward people who are new (everything is picked out, cut to size, and mostly pretty simple), but they don’t even have a simple instruction sheet? Even Dutchware Gear comes with a little card showing how to use their hardware.

I’d love to start making equipment out of dyneema. That stuff looks kickass.
Dyneema doesn't last, but having a pack under 20lbs is amazing.
It’s expensive too, like $40 per yard. Nylon and polyester are like $6, and often go on sale. Less desirable colors and seconds can sometimes be downright cheap.

You can make waterproof tarps out of bed sheets.

>Soak the sheet in the solution, working it into the sheet with gloved hands.
>Remove from solution and allow to evaporate the naptha out.
There are guides on YouTube, use this to make a fire resistant tarp that you can sew.
How much of a chore would making a bug net door for a French F2 military surplus tent be? Otherwise the tent is great but I'd love having a bug net on one end so that I could increase the airflow in it. In Finland we have way too many mosquitos for keeping the tent doors open without any bugs.

Can't contribute much since I have no diy cloth/shelter. So have my staff. Good old 1kg of wood took off the bark, painted the tip with some red ochre and coated it with oil. Been using this one for 3 years already and still kicking

The organization is still "Boy Scouts of America." Their original Scouting program is now called "Scouts BSA." "The Scouts" usually refers to the entire Scouting movement, not one particular Scouting program.

Church sponsorship ending has far more to do with how the bankruptcy settlement is structured. All the chartering organizations are still on the hook, only BSA's ass is covered.

That's not how it works though. You can't charter a Scout pack, troop, or crew without a partner chartering organization. The alternative to free space for use isn't "pay rent," it's just "find a different chartering organization, and use their space."
I'm making a sort of tarp-tent with a bug net around the edge (but no floor), the pattern are done but I'm waiting for the fabric to arrive.
It should be a fine lightweight shelter for summer.

Any neat and useful projects I can do with black goat hide? I was going to do a tobacco pouch. It's nowhere near as sturdy as full grain cow or pigskin so load bearing or hard wearing shit won't work too well.
Goathide can be good for shoes. Not the sole obviously but the the uppers. Many historical shoe finds were goat hide.
