Not him but there was a legendary amount of Russian Surplus bought up by /k/ before the current war and I think that is worth mentioning

STALKER roleplayers have done irreparable damage to the actual Russian Forces and that's quite interesting

Stalker role-players have a surprisingly small amount of Russian gear compared to your average reddit airsofter.

Video games and the war did the most to raise Russian gear prices that ive seen in the last 10yrs.

Russian surplus has always been relatively cheap(gee i wonder why). The issue is that they make all the GWOT era gear expensive and made crye raise their prices from 150 per pants/shirt to 250 per pants/shirt. They are the reason for all the chink crye knock offs popping off.

could just get arktis instead of crye, mostly the same exact stuff and you can get it in multicam if thats why you want crye shit

I have a fondness for Varusteleka. But Varus limits my purchases to 30 euro INCLUDED SHIPPING unless I am willing to be shafted by import taxes, and Ebay don't do that. The nearest actual milsurp store is almost four hours' drive away. One way.

Propper is not that bad, but i heard their commercial producta can be a mixbag when it comes to sizing. Most of of the complaints i see are from people buying commercial OCPs and saying they fit too tight.

Ebay is fine for what it is, especially if you're buying something specific. The issue is finding a good seller that doesn't overprice their shit along with not having a shitty shipping fee of over $20. Aside from that, its pretty good for surplus shit new or old.

Some items are pretty cheap. I bought some cryes for $90.

It all comes down to being a savvy shopper and not a blind consumer. I still go Venture, but have not Mike's Militaria.

                Anonymous

When it comes to more availability, ebay is the right place. Venture surplus tends to be limited when it comes to surplus and you have to be there at the right time to be able to get an item that is new or perfect conditions.

      >IR compliant? Is pretty much all mil surplus gonna be?
      This is a great assumption.

      Anonymous

Really depends on what you're buying, when it was produced and which military originally owned it. Obviously there are different requirements for different militaries around the world. Most of them aren't concerning themselves with IR. The fact that you don't know means it won't matter to you, anyway.

Specifically Bundeswehr flecktarn stuff. I was just wondering if anybody here was familiar with the different manafacturers and whats recommended on that front

          Anonymous

Assuming it hasn't been washed with normal laundry detergent, which in the case of surplus all bets are automatically off, modern flecktarn shouldn't appear any brighter under NVGs than US/UK uniforms.

I'll say this again though: it doesn't actually matter to you. You think it does but it really doesn't. Odds are if somebody who can afford NVGs is hunting you they can afford thermals too.

You can get rid of optical brighteners through normal washing with a detergent that doesn't have that shit

All U.S. military uniforms are NIR compliant. You just need to make sure it has a federal contract.

        Anonymous

Surely you mean they were NIR compliant when the garments were new and unused?

Isnt it possible to wash off the bright coatings from detergent?

          Anonymous

The NIR shit is permanently ingrained to the fabric. The only way to hinder it is if the fabric been used heavily to the point of fading. It being washed with detergent doesn't do anything aside from coating it with optical brighteners, which can be washed off after a few washes with non optical brightener detergents. Aside from that, all military contracted clothes are NIR compliant, now for other country's military garments, you need to see if those countries even offer NIR compliant clothing. Like russian clothing for example, they aren't NIR compliant.

      Anonymous

US Stuff since the 80's should be. Stuff from turdie nations is a toss op. So far Russian kit I've gotten is not IR compliant. Which is hilarious. Best way to tell is to look at em under nods. You have night vision right Anon? Also NIR stuff can be ruined if washed with the wrong detergents. Use woolite.

Gear is even more dead. It's the same shit as ~10 years ago but worse condition and 5-10x as expensive since all the Reagan era stockpiles ran out after being resold, split, resold, split, and resold again. Hell, I've re-bought and re-sold the exact same item I sold back when I was in college i the good old days when it was still moderately safe to do so.

Guess that makes sense. Its the same in the states where majority of surplus stuff are fillers made in china/south america. Few are actually us government surpluses and are expensive at times.

Ive done bean for a while so I’ve really only bought from zuta, bst groups, and cosmo one time. Im trying to get into other stuff so imma get some shit from demych probz.
On another note it sucks that there’s still lots of PrepHole users in the rusfor community (e.g. that homosexual flandre)

Does flandre really even leave the realm of guns for rusher shit? I never see his name in any collecting capacity. Cosmo is def the most known and fastest to restock but I haven't bought from demych in awhile. Shipping these days rapes deals so hard I stick with conus and Europeans unless I can get a large order in all at once.

Flandre has a frickton of russian stuff he’s collected, he has several svds and pkm parts kits, an ak12, a val, shit like that. But, he’s a piece of shit and shouldn’t be in the community. People are starting to realize who he actually is and are btfoing from him

In my experience the best used to be local boomer stores in the past, which are now completely exhausted for legit inventory and now compensate with chink garbage

Some stores are good, but the rest of the surplus market switched to online now. Like ebay, venture surplus and ETC. Since they switched to online, its easier to make a profit because people don't have to drive 15 miles to their nearest surplus store when they can order it at their house.
