i cannot believe in the age of ballistic missiles, white phosphorous, thermobarics, drones, and autocannons we are still watching this little hamlet the size of Kenosha, WI brutally fought over as if time has stopped

This. When I was growing up I was told any future war would be a short, violent exchange of ICBMs and air-strikes. There is a WW1 style artillery battle going on right now, the only difference is the trenches are slightly further apart.

        >only difference is the trenches are slightly further apart
More like that contemporary economies are so complex and interlocked that you can't go in total war mode and have armies in the millions on both side with 10k death per days. Despite the sanctions, Russia still isn't able to do that which is disappointing because I'd like really like to see what 10k dead vatBlack folk per day look like.

I just want to point out that this is why it's so god damn kino. If the top states slugged it out, it would be the most high tech weaponry possible ie god damn BORING. Just them throwing missiles at each other until it escalated into nuclear.

But local regional powers slugging it out? You get older style wars. Utterly evil and regrettable, but entertaining. That's my take on the whole thing.

Its not about Bakhmut, it's about Chasin Yar. It plays a vital role in the Donezk water supply. Which is why Ukraine is defending the place with the amount of resources they are sinking into it. The Russians are constructing an alternative canal but until it is completed, Ukraine can literally block Donezk city water supply. Same with Andiivka, the battle there is about a water treatment plant, not the settlement.

Ukraine hasn't shut off the water for good PR but if they are worried about losing the option to shut off the water why not just blow the plant?

It's such a strange combination of warfare from like all different parts of the last 150 years of war. They've got modern automatic assault rifles and tanks and planes and what not but they are fighting WWI style trench warfare with artillery strikes over small patches of land but then they are also using quadcopter drones to drop hand grenades on soldiers in the trenches that are nearly defenseless to stop the drones and plane shaped kamikaze drones to blow up missile launching trucks. It's like a match of Civ 5 where both sides have kept all their units from all the various ages of history and they are using them all at once. Wouldn't be surprised if we see cavalry charges launching javelin missiles soon.

I'm 90% sure using white phosphorus for anything other than retreating is a warcrime and considered the use of a chemical weapon.

Massive victory for Russia. Megacity Bakhmut has fallen and with it Russia has now deprived Ukraine of 99% of its population and functionally 100% of its economic output and strategic cumpits. To state that the blistering fast 10 month Russian campaign to take the inter-dimensional redoubt known as Bakhmut has been anything but a resounding success and has essentially won them the war would be an immense understatement, as this is the greatest military victory since Russia captured and then graciously vacated the small Ukrainian hamlet known as Kyiv in a fortnight. Truly we are witnessing the greatest military power to ever exist, I thank God every day that I am able to witness the sublime excellence that the Russian military embodies. But alas, I fear that Russia cannot take many more overwhelming victories such as Bakhmut.

Unfortunately recycling isn't as good for the environment as people think it is, nor is it as easy. Metal and paper can be recycled, glass can be reprocessed endlessly, but a lot of plastic can't be recycled effectively due to the way certain polymers behave and ends up in a landfill anyway [either in the US or one of the Asian countries we ship our waste to].
Some people latch on to the idea that recycling is great because it's an easy way to feel like they're contributing to 'saving the Earth' or something. They're ignorant of the fact that using less disposable bullshit forever-waste in the first place is way more helpful for the environment.

That person is still a total nutcase though. Pic unrelated.

Recycling is a meme, unironically. Or at least, the "you vill sort into the blue bins" recycling. Instead you should aim to reuse your plastics and reduce your consumption single use plastics (after all, the phrase is "reuse, reduce, recycle"). Recycling itself isn't particularly efficient or easy; but companies have made a concerted effort to convince consumers that recycling is the end all, be all of saving the environment.

That's the thing,"helping our planet" isn't something that gets fixed by individual action. Recycling was a meme designed to push environmentalism away from any sort of structural solution into a problem of "just sort the fricking trash for free lmao". And this recycling movement convinces the people that are moderately concerned that the environment could be saved if everyone just agreed to sort the garbage. No need to crack down on the excessive production of single-use plastics, we have a photo of like 10 guys gathering things into blue bins, wholesome 100 we did it reddit! Recycling should be revealed as the giant fricking scam that it is so that people stop looking to it as the silver bullet for plastic consumption.

    >we're going to surround them, the cauldroon is real bros
    >Wagnerites slowly grind at Ukrainians from the front and take mass casualties instead
    >very clear lines of supply in/out of Bakhmut to this day, Ukrainians actually further from being encircled than they were 3 months ago due to persistent fighting retreat
    >Russian army has made zero progress to the north/south outside of fricking around in the forest east of Predtechyne, the front is basically static
what did they all mean by this?

          >antifa
European (authentic commie) antifa tend to be pro-Ukraine on account of Putin being a standard nationalist dictator, American (anarchocommie) antifa tend to be pro-Russia on account of whining about Azov a bunch. Some will even do insane mental acrobatics to argue their support for the Russian invasion of Ukraine & disarming Ukraine isn't ackshually support for the invasion, but merely support for the dissolution of Ukrainian nationalism (as it is eaten up by Russian nationalists but nevermind that lol)
The whole article this snippet came from is wonderfully unhinged and a great read - it is dedicated, without a single hint of irony or apology, to Sholem Schwarzbard
          >WEF
Richgays are mostly concerned with the costs of a prolonged war and consistently encourage "compromise"/concession by Ukraine to end it faster.
