I don't care that the police are getting these weapons (though I do very much mind that civilians aren't legally allowed to do so). Give every cop an M60 for all I care. But I don't understand why they're copying the military aesthetic when they're supposed to be enforcing laws, not protecting the country.
Police shouldn't wear camo. Combat is a rare unfortunate occurrence of the job, not their main role. They should either wear typical professional police uniforms or obnoxiously bright uniforms with "POLICE" thrown on every angle to let everyone know of their presence. Why are their faces blurred? They don't want to let civilians know who's going to no-knock raid their dogs? Those American flag patches should be full color, not what the Air Force considers tacticool.
Does that dude on the bottom right have a fricking sapper tab? That's absolutely fricking moronic, unless he's an EOD tech, in which case it's still pretty strange. I can't even imagine what sort of cringe I would experience if I could read the tabs on the dipshit next to him.

I hate every "person" in this picture.

No dumdum, the entire point of a police uniform is to clearly identify you to everyone in eyeshot as a copper. A tiny camo patch on a camo carrier on camo fatigues does a really shit job of this.

It’s gay. They aren’t operating in a non-permissive environment as a direct action element. When I went to CQB school tbe instructor said don’t be snowed by swat guys who say “we did 120 warrants last year.” He said they have control of the scene, show up with very large teams and do the slow and deliberate room-by-room clearing, totally different than direct action units.

American cops are trained to wet their pants and become hysterical when approaching a suspect. They are so ingrained with the fear of their own grisly death at all times that they can't properly control their weapons and panic-fire for any reason until they are out of bullets. Often they shoot each other by mistake. They are taught that every minute of every day they are on duty they need to be ready for a full blown firefight vs multiple enemies with automatic weapons. I believe most of them have induced PTSD even before they kill someone
They are so brainwashed into crippling mind-bending fear they will even put handcuffs on dead and dying people and scream at them for several minutes before allowing any rescue personnel to help.
I am not lying and not exaggerating, this is done on purpose tho nobody knows why.

You can blame this on three things.

Graham v. Connor, which essentially says that police are allowed to use as much force as they think is necessary, including lethal, if it's judged to be acceptable by their peers. Their peers are not socity as a whole, but only other police officers. You can see where this ripe for abuse and how 'I was fearing for my life' becomes a Get out of jail free card for any police brutality.
Kyle Dinkheller getting his dumbass killed by Andrew Brannan because Dinkheller managed to frick up every step of the way for what should have been a routine traffic stop for speeding.
And police taking the message from Dinkheller getting his dumbass killed, that police need to treat everyone they encounter as a lethal threat to them and adopt the 'us verses them', warrior mentality which they now train their new recruits. It also doesn't help you have a war criminal like Eddie Gallagher training police in this mindset now.

Full legal cover and treating everyone who's not a police offer as a threat. It's no wonder policing in America is fricked up.

    FRICK THE POLICE
    >They are all Demonic

  15. 11 months ago

    I'm 100% serious when I say this.

Cops should wear a uniform which has to be ironed with creases in the sleeves and down the pant legs much like a ceremonial uniform.

Every year they should have to take standardised testing on a range of laws and if they fail they simply lose their jobs until they pass the exams again and can be re-instated.

Cops should only be allowed to have their service pistol locked up in a safe in the trunk of their patrol car, and every time they unlock the safe they have to write a report justifying why they took out their firearm for that particular job.

Cops should be tested every year on their physical fitness and ground grappling skills in detaining, disarming suspects including suspects with knives.

Not having your body camera on should be grounds for immediate dismissal and should be grounds for jail time if said body camera isn't on during an arrest.

In any shooting or use of force scenario, cops should be legally held to a higher standard than any regular citizen and fearing for one's life should not even be an argument. If there was a mass shooting happening and the nearest patrol car didn't come to a screeching halt outside and run into the building full speed I would happily see that cop be charged with every murder the shooter committed for gross dereliction of duty.

    >Acting like police militarization is a new thing
If anything it's a return to old trends. Throughout most of human history, Police/law enforcement often used the exact same equipment as the military. In many places it was the Military doing law enforcement. In the US, a shit ton of LE departments were using lever actions in the 1880's while the US army was still using a single shot rifle. The trend of police using top of the line arms began to die off after WW2. Even then, many agencies bought surplus arms. According to my grandpa, our little middle of nowhere sheriff's department was issuing M-1 Garands and Carbines as standard long arms since the 50's, with Thompsons also being purchased and used. They replaced them with AR's in the 80's.
If anything, cops began issuing plates and optics before the US army did, not counting SOCOM. It all depends on how much funding the department had on hand at a time. People only think it's a recent thing because Obama handed out surplus GWOT shit like candy to LE for dirt cheap, often times for free.

Except the point isn't the weapon choices, it's the use of camo and other aspects of military apparel that serve no practical purpose other then letting them LARP as soldiers. If you're arresting someone, you want to make it fricking clear that you're the police and that they're going to lose if they don't comply, which is why mono color uniforms with giant fricking patches in an opposing color that say POLICE are a standard uniform the world over for police doing high risk things, except for the US where as if you looked at

      https://i.imgur.com/V29gfCk.jpg

Anon, police literally have a POLICE or FBI, US MARSHALS symbols on their plates and everything. Even with camos, they are identifiable.

      or

      https://i.imgur.com/LFcVD5j.jpg

, you're not going to see the POLICE tags at a glance because the fricking camo pattern is doing it's job and letting it blend in. Compare it to something like

      https://i.imgur.com/Lz28gC2.jpg

      >counterproductive
More like SWATs or specialized police groups get whatever shit gets donated to them by the market. Be it USGI or not. Not every department has a standardized uniform.

where they're wearing some surplus camo, but they've got the black vests with white writing on it that make it very easy to read POLICE even if some of those guys don't have it on both sides of their vest.

Now, if you want to argue that Game Wardens and US Border Patrol are in a unique situation where there is a practical purpose to them wearing camo, that's something that's more of an edge case, but there is no reason the fricking Marshals should have their POLICE patches in fricking camo brown instead of neon fricking colors so people know who's coming through the door, and it has and will result in more LEOs getting blasted by people who don't know who's kicking down their door in the middle of the night, especially when they get the wrong house, and then a good portion of those people getting blasted in return because cops don't appreciate being shot at anymore like anyone else.
