Unless you have a fairly small lawn, they're kind of a pain because you have to cut way more often, like twice a week. They really don't do well with tall grass as far as I've heard.

Twice a week? What kinda super-grass are you growing that goes up an inch a day?

typically they cut grass better than lawnmowers, which are often dull from running over twigs and sticks and leaves. i like mine and the n*ggers around here don't steal them, unlike motorized mowers.

I have one and it is great because I only have about 6 parking space of grass to mow. Even getting a cheap electric mower is over kill.

Yes you can't let the grass grow to long. But you can get a running start and it will cut.

The clunk swish sound out of a push mower always reminds me of my childhood. Still not worth it though since they are a pain in the ass for many of the reasons other anons stated.

I use a manual mower because I'm autistic and it's good exercise

      >We are not the same

I use a reel mower because I hate noise, vibration, fumes, maintenance, etc. and because I don't like throwing rocks at cars and houses and pedestrians.

On the other hand, all the complaints in this thread are legit. A reel mower is probably great in perfect situations like a golf course, but in a real yard they pretty much suck. But I'm gonna keep mine because I'm hardheaded. (that guy who said his reel mower snaps most twigs must weigh about 400 lbs; mine stops dead in its tracks for anything larger than a matchstick - the same mechanical advantage that makes the reel spin fast multiplies the stopping power of a twig).

there is no better cut than a reel mower. they shear the grass against a stationary blade rather than ripping it off by conservation of momentum like a regular mower. cleanly cut grass grows back more evenly and is softer without the dead torn tips a spinning mower leaves

Anyone here encounter these fricking basedboy cucks worshipping electric OPE and getting irrationally angry at people who still want to use ICE stuff?

Friend invited me to a sportsbar his work reserved and I was talking to one of his coworkers who was obsessed with telling everyone he didn't already know how good electric lawnmowers were and he was such a c**t about it you would've thought he was a salesman for the fricking things. I told him they didn't suit my needs and he went into this god damned tirade about people needing to get out of the stone age on tech and figure out how far batteries have come since grandpa's day and when he finally asked "so how big is your yard? an acre? acre and a half?" I told him 40, with an additional 240 leased, and that I didn't even own a lawnmower I cut my grass with a 90hp john deere 4040. The prick couldn't even be graceful about it he just sighed and rolled his eyes like I wasted his time then stormed off

well no shit, but I wanted this Black person to shut the frick up, I despise people who behave like living basedjacks and he certainly was one. I've heard similar sentiment from reddit/youtube and am afraid more and more people will become insufferable electric OPE simps crying about free choice on the marketplace

              Anonymous

so what's your solution? because to me you're just as bad as the guy you're b***hing about. both of you are trying to get other people on your bandwagon, that's for sure. your crying about his crying isn't any better. there's eight billion people on this god forsaken planet, I think the markets can handle a little niche variety and still cater to your complaining ass.

I have no bandwagon, I don't think you read the posts correctly or you're making up additional details in your head. I am not demanding anything except people to not be spergs for [new thing] and spend their free time trying to "convert" people to [new thing] because it's obnoxious. I offer no alternative [thing] to convert to. I support freedom of market choice and think electric OPE is a good solution for your average suburban 1/4 acre lot homeowner, but don't pretend this is a simple horseshoe theory situation when you have shitholes like California trying to outlaw ICE engines for OPE while zealots screaming electric praise pave the way for similar sentiment elsewhere.

I went to the websight and all the reviews are very positive and they say that no one has ever returned one of their mowers. Ordinarily I'd be scheptical but these are amish people.

Sharpen your blade. How many mowers have I come across that have extremely dull blades, that whack the grass instead of cutting it.
