If it was a shaheed it's possible. Those things fly low and slow, slower than WW2 fighters and MG ground fire was known to destroy them so it's quite possible.
I mean, seems so logical - if the drone is on the low pass and the unit is aware of it's route - get a Special Sergeant Andrei with a AA-12 or a Benelli M4 with bridshot just to frick with the stabilizers and flaps.
Dude, it's flying at 118mph top. That's slower than a motorbike AND most cars. That's a heavy machine gun.
In WW2 ground based .50s were shooting down planes flying at 500mph+. It was one of the reasons for having .50s on Shermans that could elevate that high.
I really can't understand the people being surprised by this.
>tracers are nowhere near the explosion
Yeah it certainly wasn't intercepted by a MANPAD from 5 miles away and this is unrelated coincidentally timed video or anything.
I don’t think anyone disputes that, there’s plenty of footage of Russian shit getting fricked. It’s just doubtful that someone shot down a missile with a rifle. Reminds me of when people claimed that some guy with a shotgun downed a Russian jet or something.
>Reminds me of when people claimed that some guy with a shotgun downed a Russian jet or something.
I like how every certified Russian shill has to mention that. The old dude shot with his rifle at Russoid plane exactly when Ukrainian AA eternally flighted that flying tincan, he was awarded medal for his bravery not for shooting down a plane. I also love how there's fricking video evidence of shot down by machineguns but seething "IT DIDN'T HAPPEN, IT WAS ACTUALLY STEALTH MANPAD, THEY HID THE EVIDENCE"

No shit he didn’t shoot it down, I’m saying that tons of news articles and people on /k/ initially claimed that he did, when it should have been obvious that he didn’t. >russian shill
Bro, come the frick on, not everyone who doesn’t buy into moronic propaganda is a russian shill. I’m 100% pro self defense, for both individuals and countries, Ukraine absolutely has the right to frick up russia and I would donate money to Ukraine if I wasn’t so poor that I’m shooting steel case out of a PSA, but I just don’t think it’s likely that someone shot down a missile with a rifle.

>Bro, come the frick on, not everyone who doesn’t buy into moronic propaganda is a russian shill
First act of Russian shill: always mention Ghost of Kyiv, Snake Island or this old dude as proof that whatever is being discussed as false, literally seen that done several hundred times on /k/ and /misc/, actually every time news about downed(including il-22m and a-50) netrooolers come out screaming how it's false because media claimed that this dude shot down Russian aircraft.
Second: you're literally watching video of M2 browning intercept flying object and start screaming how it didn't happen, the most common Russian shill tactic
So if you act like a duck, talk like a duck and walk like a duck, the frick are you beside a duck?
If it was a shaheed it's possible. Those things fly low and slow, slower than WW2 fighters and MG ground fire was known to destroy them so it's quite possible.
Black person.
Shaheds fly at 150km or 118mph for our yank friends. We've seen video of them very low as well.
I reckon this is very possible. The hard counter to shahed spam is probably just AAA spam. Don't even need the all singing all dancing western ones either, probably a WW2 bofors twin mount on a truck will do nicely.
>tfw no webms of a quad mount bofors turning a zigger treeline into fine mulch with bits of meat in it
Are we gonna reach the point where Ukraine is killing ziggers with actual WWII surplus?
>For some reason /misc/ thought Shaheds cost $50
I still love how there are people that believe that Shaheds cost 10k $ while recovered engines from Shaheds alone cost 20k $
Technically Shsneeds cost $500k due to the amount of aircraft Russia gave to Iran in exchange. Except, of course, they haven't. They totally will though. Haha. Totally.
>and that the Ukrainians would be exclusively firing $2 million PAC-2 interceptors against them.
It happened once though, during the summer.
Something like 30-40 patriot launches one after another during one of the attacks, and no reports of kinzhal intercepts the next day, a lot of shaheds and some Kh-s if I recall correctly.
And I'm certain it was patriot, it was the same dense earth-shaking roar and large bright orange lights rapidly going up and to the side in the sky before disappearing, as with the first intercept of kinzhal in may, which I've seen with my own eyes(yeah im going to a balcony of my apartment instead of a shelter during attacks).
Also after all that the air stank somewhat of a burning plastic, but somehow worse.
Ukraine's been using machine gun trucks against Shaheds for over a year now. And I remember a video from 2022 of four or five guys with AKs managing to plink one.
puccia's probably getting ready to officially announce gerasimov's death
Nah yeah nah it's actually a 200iq play by gerasimov whom faked his own death similar to pringles. I always see people say "y not gib soldiers 12g shodgums to just shot down drone???", which is moronic for reasons people reply with every time, but I do wonder if you could take that idea and scale it up to a vehicle-mounted automatic shotgun to actually make it practical. IIRC western nations are developing airburst weapons specifically for fricking up drones, but it seems like a cheap, (by military procurement standards), mounted gun firing dirt cheap 12g shells to just put up a wall of pseudo-flak against incoming drones or missiles might have some use alongside it since cheap FPV drones would be disabled by even a single pellet of buckshot clipping a rotor and Saheds are slow as frick (by missile standards)

When Ukies fwacked the radar intel/recon forces HQ in Crimea. Base commander was confirmed killed, and a VIP was airlifted to Moscow. Word on the street is that that was Gerasimov, but we don't know. Neither side has said anything after the base commander was ETERNAL FLIGHT'd
They're already coping by having people go >Well he's gone missing/AWOL before, so he's totally fine and Russia went OTT to disprove Streklov was dead
The issue, being obviously, that Streklov Weekend At Bernie'd was immediately forgotten and he hasn't been seen since. This is the ultimate thing about all the guys claimed to be whacked. We've not seen them since outside of Russia going 'he is totally alive, here is phonecall of him'. Nothing else. Months past and we never see them again. It's ignored by both sides and memory holed. But their point of Kremlin going OTT to say Streklov wasn't dead lands credence to the theory Gerisamov isn't... Or there would have been more attempts to disprove it like every other high ranking thing. Now, of course, this doesn't mean he is uninjured or not in a coma... Hell it doesn't even mean he is not dead. Russia might simply be avoid mentioning he is dead/injured because they don't want to reinforce the idea that Ukraine is successfully hitting their high command AND to make it less likely Ukraine will try to whack them again. After all, they're already dead, right?
Thousands of missiles. Hundreads of thousands of soldiers. Random chance.
I'd rather ask how much ammo has been wasted uselessly or done damage to ground if they do this often enough to finally score a hit and what other wasteful practices they dont irradicate while asking for gibs.
>cost of Kh-101 >13 million dollars >cost of .50 cal ammo >3 dollars
so unless they "waste" 4 million .50 cal ammo to shoot down one rocket it sounds like good trade
Do we know it was an X-101?
You’d also have to factor in the cost of gun barrels, .50 bmg returning to the ground and ruining something, etc
You also want to compare the price to the reduction in damage dealt by the X-101 as opposed to its price. Russia loses the X-101 either way, the “gain” is from destroying ukrainian targets
In every conflict since men stopped standing in the open waiting to get shot, the number of bullets fired is always comically higher than the number of bullets that actually hit something they're supposed to.

Fun fact, soviets had a shit-ton of high-caliber, radar-directed flak cannons errywhere. But then Burgers started flying over their frozen swamp with impunity with superior high-altitude planes so the soviets put all research points into missiles.
To give you an actual answer, no, because buckshot isn't aerodynamic enough. It loses energy way too fast when attempting to fire it at distant targets, and scaling up the gun doesn't help the problem much.
See: Tanks that have a canister shell munition. Their effective range typically tops out at 750 meters on a good day. That's nowhere near enough to be effective AAA.
To solve the problem you need an aerodynamic spinning projectile, and at that point you have a rifle, and if you're building a rifle to shoot at flying shit you may as well make it a fused shell.

As this war goes on the more I 100% believe that story more and more.
You know 100% that those pilots were barely flying treetops that early in the war over a ton of residential area's, and those things are frickhuge and can't take bullets for shit.

cruise missiles travel at less than 600 mph and often low to the ground, so it doesn't seem outrageous to me that someone shoots it down with a machine gun

STOP noticing things RIGHT NOW. STOP IT.
Ukraine has the good sense to realize that truth is the best way to combat zigger lies, and therefore make it a priority to substantiate their claims.
If hollywood was that good, they might manage to squeeze out a decent movie now and then.
They're too busy producing bradley kino and suicidniks.
Do missiles phase out of existence now? They're still physical objects, and the things typically designed to shoot them down are also fast moving.

>They downed something in that video
There's at least 3 videos ITT of a munition flying over ukraine being downed by men with AKs and/or M2s
>What was it, though.
Some are clearly Shanseeds being illuminated by searchlights, but if you want to go full BUT WHAT WAS IT clown-mode, we can play that game and say it is possible an Iskander was downed by an AK.
Shaheds aren't cruise missiles.
What's it lacking? an air-breathing engine?
Apparently the radar and visibility is too shit to hit anything
Ukraine was modernising them prior to 2022, sadly I imagine they didn't get many of the new versions finished.
cruise missiles travel at less than 600 mph and often low to the ground, so it doesn't seem outrageous to me that someone shoots it down with a machine gun
Is just propaganda for people who doesn´t know the different between a drone a rocket and a missile.
/k/ is a weapon board, whoever believe this is just a tourist.
