How much HE would a 60+ gun battery of Koksans throw in a hour?
Supposedly it only shoots every 2-3 minutes but that is still like 1000-1200 rounds, if it has 5kg of HE per shell (using a 152mm for comparison) isn't that like 6kt of explosives? So 3 hours of pic related shooting at the same spot is equivalent to a Davy Crockett?
What the hell survives that?
You're implying they survive the full hour
1 5t explosive isn't the same as 1000 5kg explosives
>What the hell survives that?
When you dig trenches, only hole-in-one's count.
1200*40kg = 50 tons
In Verdun ~2,000,000 shells were fired during the previous week to the infantry attack. With little effect.
Point, still would wreak something like a city yes?
Pretty sure line up 60+ of them like in that pic during actual combat is histories greatest tac nuke justification.
They fascinate me, mostly because i just read about how we know for a fact that they really do have the massive range they claim. UAE bought some in 1989 and let us watch a test firing, they really can do 60+km and that was 30 years ago. Worlds only deployed theater siege cannons.
>still would wreak something like a city yes?
oh yes they completely wrecked the town of verdun. didn't really do much to capture it though. the thing that moved the lines was the introduction of flamethrowers, unfortunately the shell-turned mud was so deep that the germans couldn't move up their guns to take advantage of it, so they were soon pushed back.
>still would wreak something like a city yes?
It takes weeks to "wreak" a city with conventional shelling. That shit ain't gonna survive a day in such a tight formation.
>they really do have the massive range they claim
That's basically just a pion with downscaled payload for upscaled range.
>greatest tac nuke justification.
Simple MLRS salvo would be enough to turn that beach into big barbecue party.
Wreck in that you can’t live there, doesn’t prevent troops from hiding and fighting in there.
I'm interested to know what irresponsible butthole sold them the drop hammers, lathes and milling machines needed to make those barrels.
"Hey guys it's OK, they swear they only need to make a hollow 40 foot long high stress tube 12 inches thick at the base for tractor axles, they totally gave their word!"
the french of course.
Koksan is north korean…
The sole passenger car the DPRK manufactures is a FIAT clone because they somehow tricked Italy into giving them it on credit then stole it. Don't assume the French are being stupid when there is a entire UN worth of folks the Choson could have robbed.
>wouldn't a single salvo be enough
We know that the damn things work as advertised (60+ km range 30 years ago) because the UAE bought a bunch of their weapons around 1990 as a "theater bully package' but the accuracy is questionable or was 30 years ago. One would assume they have improved it somewhat.
Everything you just said has already been noted.
>That's basically just a pion with downscaled payload for upscaled range.
LOL the Pion has half the range of the Koksan and has been useless in almost every conflict it has been used in. Koksan is proven to actually work.
>Simple MLRS salvo would be enough to turn that beach into big barbecue party.
True, fun fact: US joint training exercises with the UAE have shown that the UAE's 240mm DPRK MLRS systems really do have a 300km range.
It boggles the mind but North Korea has better artillery than Russia, operational experience and direct testing of the equipment has proven it.
>tricked Italy into giving them it on credit then stole it
They did this with Sweden too. They brought a fleet of Volvo 140's which they never paid for. Rumour has it they only recently retried them. Apparently they were originally used as party officials cars before working their way down the food chain, ending their service as Taxi's in Pyongyang.
>How much HE would a 60+ gun battery of Koksans throw in a hour?
none after the cruise missile drops its load of "to whom it may concern" bomblets
>"to whom it may concern" bomblets
>3 hours of pic related shooting at the same spot
what's the tactical advantage to firing 6,000 tonnes of explosives at one spot. wouldn't a single salvo be enough
if you fire enough artillery at one spot it eventually becomes a nuke
It's less than 60km to the middle of Seoul from closest part of the the North Korean border. Before they had nukes, OP's pic was the North Korean equivalent of a nuclear deterrent. They stage all their artillery for a photo op because they want to South Korean citizens to see it.
And it's not some kind of tacit threat, in classic Nork style they spell it out. Like in this article:
>"If those mongrels … challenge against us, all of our artillery power will raze Seoul to the ground with nothing left but ash plumes”
Post Card from westerner visiting Nampo:
'Surfs up, the lifeguard said the waters fine. Saw a shark yesterday, they said the local authorities will take care of it no worries'
Typical dictator flexing bullshit, you try that in a real war and cluster munitions are going to end it fast.

Obviously deploying that many in one spot would be suicide. I'm just impressed that they have so many of the fricking things and they do what they are supposed to do.
It is the same thing we do with exercises with the RoK, we show that we can not only deploy and mobilize the forces we claim but that we can do it as training i.e bluster. There is no real difference.
For international relations there is little difference but if you are going to have everyone from logi to crews set this up you might as well do it realistically to get some real training out of it.
I am reasonably certain that when the DRPK mobilized 100 pieces of strategic siege artillery on a beach that they trained the crews to properly operate, set up, load and fire them.
To do that they had to get the guns there, supply them with ammo, fuel, food, ect. Otherwise it would not have happened.
Duh.
>2-3 rounds a minute
That's not soldiering
