>psychological effect
They are bitbulling them in, firing without any emitter locked and hoping they find whatever the pilot is seeing on his RWR.
It's much less effective that actually having it intergrated with the planes EW and MFDs but it's better than nothing.
>inb4 shills from both sides can't handle the fact pitbulling HARMs is both shit and better than nothing
That's exactly what I said, they will being finding emitters with the planes RWR, pointing in the right general direction and firing in TOO mode. The missile will come off the rail, realize it has no lock and start scanning for anything it can find.
It's far from ideal but you only need to hit a few radars before word gets out and the crews don't feel like running the radar 24/7 anymore.
>/k/ is discussing effectiveness of a weapon from Russian images only
I'm sure it's very effective way to gauge how effective it is from pictures Russians took when it failed and won't publish all vehicles and radars it destroyed
Using the missiles own seekers, hence "pitbulling". You can't control what they go for, but there's a reasonable chance they'll sniff out a big fat nearby radar if they are lobbed in the right direction & close enough
the missile has it's own seeker. They program coordinates on the ground, when the missile reeches it's preprogrmaed destination the seeker activates and starts looking for targets.
So what you're saying is, the missile knows where it is at all times. It knows this because it knows where it isn't. By subtracting where it is from where it isn't, or where it isn't from where it is (whichever is greater), it obtains a difference, or deviation. The guidance subsystem uses deviations to generate corrective commands to drive the missile from a position where it is to a position where it isn't, and arriving at a position where it wasn't, it now is. Consequently, the position where it is, is now the position that it wasn't, and it follows that the position that it was, is now the position that it isn't.
In the event that the position that it is in is not the position that it wasn't, the system has acquired a variation, the variation being the difference between where the missile is, and where it wasn't. If variation is considered to be a significant factor, it too may be corrected by the GEA. However, the missile must also know where it was.
Dunning Kruger moment. Pitbull is the correct term.
Neither is correct in the context of HARMs. 'Maddog' is an AMRAAM fired active off the rails, while 'pitbull' is a brevity word for an AMRAAM that switched from semi-active to active. t. hoggit-pro
Thanks for your input. However, I am unconvinced that you are of sufficient knowledge in the field of missile employment to trust. Sorry, but I need sources.
>one out of dozens of missiles failed >was that a statistical probability considering these are bottom of the pile stocks near their expiration date? >no, surely they're just firing them at random for psychological effect
Another possibility is the crew of the targeted radar turning it off on time or the launching pilot making a mistake.
Will a S400 even detect these missiles coming at them? The Tor operators only detected it seconds before impact and didn't know it was coming for them until it struck.
It's also taken out S300 systems already, so it seems that even the major systems have trouble.
This webm is pure nostalgia, I remember when people started to say "see they are using their AA now they won't be raped by TB2s anymore".
This was like in March iirc.
even *if* the targeted emitter goes cold after a HARM launch, the missile will guide itself to the last known/perceived location of the emission and detonate there. >lol i'm just gonna shut off my radar
is a tactic that hasn't worked since later generations of the AGM-45 Shrike.
It would be interesting to see just how cheap a dummy emitter can be put together today. Given the radar wavelengths targeted are quite low a frequency SDR producing a good facsimile of radar output, combine with cheapass repurposed powerFET linear amplifier front end to get to kilowatts emissions (modern FET frequency response). I wouldn't be surprised below hundreds of dollars. Perhaps the most costly part would be the dish and director resonators, the physical enclosure/structures.
no one cares about the weird shit you just said
the anon you responded to is correct, spooking radars into turning off is a win
hell, shit misses, russian cum sucker, it happens, but if its enough to make the radar frick off while missing thats an easy win

That’s fine. The US runs the world’s most powerful air force on the planet, no one even remotely compares. If someone can bag a few of our jets, especially a cutting-edge one like those were in the 90s, than they’ve earned the right to brag. Interested observers at the time, I think, felt graciously willing to let them have the F117 shoot-down considering how badly we pulverized them. No one, not the liberals and not the Limbaugh fans ever felt even slightly that America was in a major or serious war. It was really just a TV news happening.

the u.s ''let'' the serbians have the f-117 shootdown because it crashed and the serbians were parading it around. they had no choice. they then concocted the bomb bay door cope to save a national embarrassment
the second f-117 hit was never even officially reported and covered up (but widely known unofficially) until it was confirmed by one of the actual f-117 pilots who flew in the war on a podcast.

relative to whatever "peer adversaries" think stealth means, likely yes, but the Pentagon wasn't particularly concerned over the shootdown since the stealth technology integrated in the F117 was already outdated... by US standards, not yours
>the only AA in Serbia that survived the ass reaming was the one that drove into the woods and got never turned on except the one time they caught a F117 flying the same route with no cover because the Serbs were proving so toothless the USAF stopping taking even the most elementary of precautions

An SA-6 battery consists of a fire control radar, ~6 TELs to carry and fire the missiles, and some support vehicles. There is also a search radar, but I don't think that's organic to the battery. Of those vehicles, the HARM only targets and kills the FCR and search radar (unless you're incredibly incompetent). So HARMs come in and wreck your search radar and FCR. Your battery is still mostly "intact" but completely fricking useless.

>The Bundeswehr also participated in the air strikes from day one. For it, the Kosovo war represented the first combat deployment since its founding in 1955. The German Air Force participated with 14 reconnaissance and electronic warfare aircraft of the type Tornado ECR (10 units) and Tornado Recce (4 units) of the Operational Squadron 1 from the Italian air bases Piacenza and Aviano. The ECR Tornados flew 428 SEAD sorties. Among other missions, more than 200 AGM-88 HARM missiles were deployed against enemy radar positions. The Air Force suffered no losses of its own in the process.
I remember tornadoes doing a flyby at my countries air force parade (we dont have a jet airfoce so we ask nato jets to larp for us)
Biggest boner of my life tbh
Wow, one plane in the 90s. Truly owned. Not like Serbia got utterly BTFO and failed to achieve its objectives while thousands of Serbs died in exchange.
I wonder if Ukraine will get any SEAD anti-radar loiter munitions. HARMs probably help them a whole lot, but seems to me dedicated radar homing LMs would free up more Ukie jets for more useful jobs, while also minimizing the risk to their air force. something like the IAI Harpy or Harop would be perfect. I know Israel is kinda iffy about sending advanced weaponry to Ukraine, but I've heard Estonia transferred Israeli Spike ATGMs and Blue Spear AShMs to the Ukies.
there's a possible chance that the Ukrainians might receive IAI Harops/Harpys through Azerbaijan, Germany, or Turkey, since they all operate the weapon. though it would take some good diplomacy to make it happen.
I doubt it's that crazy
at the end of the day it needed an adapter to fit the rails of the MiG-29 and to be able to be electronically triggered, the missile can do its own work.
Sounds like a win-win-win > West saves on utilisation costs > Ukraine gets weapons that are still usable and more modern than russian > Russian mothers can buy new ladas (no abs and airbags tho)
That was my point when people would complain about the cost of pur aid. Most of what we were given was probably close to the end of life and would have just been shot at targets during war games.
>US wins the cold war with Regan >Over 30 years later the neosoviets are getting uppity >Dust off the original weapons from back then and another senile elderly president >Party like it's 1989
Imagine being a Russian conscript: eating expired MREs, being beaten by your superiors, and getting paid pennies a day to fight in a war that can only harm your country. One day, you see a threat pop up on your AA radar screen, and before you have time to react, you are vaporized by a missile that has been waiting patiently to kill you for longer than you've been alive.
The missile knew what he was (Russian) at all times, by knowing what he wasn't (human) and in it's infinite mercy granted him the sweet release from being a Russian conscript, by vaporizing him instantly with 66kg of high explosive.
Russians eat 30 year old MRE's and fire cruise missiles manufactured well before that, its only fitting that they get fired at with weapons just as old because you can afford to be ironic.
It's eight years younger than I am. I'm glad the war of American missiles destroying Russian military formations I was promised in the 1980s has finally come to pass. I just wish Ukrainians weren't dying to make it happen.
>Warranty Expiration 1991
What are the chances they dug this thing out of some museum where it's been sitting since decades just so they can pretend to have countered a single HARM?
Consider what ukies know and don't know, they have some info on russian SAM location from intelligence assets like satellites and NATO SLAR and EW. Before ARMs entereted the theatre russians were probably blasting on their search radars 24/7, now they have to incorporate actual discipline to their air defences and knowing russians, I'm not expecting much.
Correct, it's just the rocket motor, marked with the brown band.
nope, Hawgs can't do it. but the A-10 is also an unfit launch platform because the slower the plane is at launch, the shorter the range of the missile. and you wanna be as far from the AA as possible when launching shit at an active AA site.
but they could probably be able to launch 'em after a software update, there's nothing special about the AGM-88 that needs some unique pylon or launcher.
Weird thing is that it was a wonderweapon in the game and you always had them equipped. Long range radar on approach to target? Gone. Shilka targeting you? Gone. Migs painting you with their radar? Gone, if you launched straight on. But yeah, in real life where there's MANPADs everywhere and the A-10 is flying low, probably not much use...

how many threads is that now?
There was a print screen around somewhere on OSINT twitter documenting exactly that, It was some FSB office writing to another FSB office that they will send them the weapons exhibit parade and what to do with it. not sure where exactly, can't be arsed to find it and unsure if it was real or fakes anyways.
It's like the "captured" spent javelin tubes they show off while the javelin probably destroyed one of their armored vehichles. What a victory for the Russian forces.
>Russians posing in front of the booster motor
Notice how they always take such tight photos of the HARM motor? Why do you think they're hiding where the warhead struck kek
what's the deal with serbs anyway? i thought there was a broad consensus in the 00s that the war was fricking abominable, but now they seem to want another pop at it. is it millennials and zoomers coming of age and being edgy without a full understanding of the consequences?
Eternal asshurt at losing every war they fought in.
The Yugoslav wars and the 99 bombing is just the latest and most humiliating example of it.
Seriously, just read up on the frickery they were up to during the breakup: >crying to Russia that the other countries don't want to play with you anymore >crying to the world that those meanie Slovenes and Croat Nazis are being super mean and don't want to be in a country with them. >demilitarising Croatia and leaving it defenceless while you plan to arm ethnic Serbs at the same time >attacking Croatia and Slovenia for their completely legal separation >despite being one of the biggest armies in Europe, still get beaten back by fricking Slovenia and ragtag Croat units armed with hunting rifles and WW2 junk >get Grozny-d in Vukovar >ape out in Bosnia >get pasted so hard in '95 that you b***h and cry genocide to the UN
What happened in Kosovo was just the sweet cherry on top of the massive humiliation cake.
It’s possible we’re taping real RWRs onto these MiGs but I doubt it. They are probably just shooting HARMs in directions NATO ELINT is telling them. These things have little baby missile antennas and old CPUs you can’t expect them to reliably find targets. So they’re going to miss and a lot.
The fact that Ukrainians have to rely on NATO ELINT makes them much less effective and than having an organic and integrated ELINT element. Do those MiGs even have HAVE QUICK radios? Actually I wonder how they deal with comms. Probably use whatever the Soviet version of HAVE QUICK is and comms from NATO have to be relayed manually. I bet this is a major PITA that slows things down.
Fun fact Sam radars cause interference on synthetic aperture radar satellite pictures. Based on the interference pattern you can tell the location of the Sam radar. You can also buy these satellite pictures publicly and there is open source software for finding the Sam radar locations.
where's the rest of the missile?
Are you posting just the motor of a rocket that did its job? Is this like the "switchblade was disabled by EW, here's the burned out tail section" posts all over again?
Yeah we wrecked the Serbs. No right-winger with their heads screwed on straight supported that shit though. Everyone understood we were blowing these people up to distract from Clinton’s issues, but the left and media had to dutifully pretend they cared about geocoding Muslims.
Post cold war, Pre-9/11 US had the moral and also political imperative to act as world police.
Especially in when it comes to stopping petty wars and chimpouts in Europe, considering the sensitive situation there after the fall of communism.
Nobody wants to believe that there’s a pair of ex RAF/Luftwaffe tornados that were recently retired flying around unmarked with “volunteer” pilots. Instead they believe that in the last 6 months the US somehow integrated the harm to work with Russian fire control systems on migs.
It's not that hard to adapt a plane to a fire+forget weapon system. Plus, there is a good chance that either the poles or americans have already been working on this (USAF has all sorts of MIGs for cases just like these). And the UAF was showered with spareparts and upgrades in march, that's how they got more and more previously parked airframes back in the air.
They're preprogrammed for GPS coordinates. But they also seek an active radar on approach.
On the other hand Ukraine got supplied with very old missiles, so some failures are to be expected.
Whats the mechanism of propellant degradation, i guess that depends on propellant, i assume that most missiles use a version of aluminium and percholates encased in some flammable polymer, do the perchlorates degrade and cause the most trouble when it comes to storing solid propellant ?
As far as I know its the perchlorates degrading and the polymer becoming brittle over time as well. In our testing of the old ones there has been very little degradation in performance, which is probably due to the motors being very well sealed when they finish manufacturing them (front is completely closed off with pressure ports plugged, rear has a burst disk) and the Naval missiles never seeing any extreme conditions (they are kept in climate controlled storage and then the ships mostly remain in temperate regions and the tubes are well insulated/sealed off from humidity). This would be a better question for a chemical engineer though. I just test the things.
Interesting, when it comes to tubes what are they made out of ? Some carbon fiber composite or some meme alloy ? I always wondered how do they withstand the pressure and heat and yet are fairly light.
It really just depends on the missile. Most are steel cased, a couple are aluminum (there really are very few of these), and some are carbon fiber/kevlar/fiberglass. It all just depends on how high performance/optimized the rocket is. Most things are moving towards composite cases nowadays for the weight savings. General Dynamics Ordnance has a good page on their site with a PDF that covers what motors have what cases for a lot of systems.
OK so there's this talking point that Russian shills are constantly bringing up now detailing how Europe is gonna starve and freeze during the winter season without Russian gas, with the result of course being the public support for NATO magically going down to zero..
Now obviously not being European myself I turn to the anons in this thread to clarify, this whole scenario has very little basis in reality right? Because the way vatniks describe it sounds like we're still living in fricking medieval times when peasants would freeze to death during a harsh winter
Europeans won't freeze, but in many cases energy bills will go up a lot.
Most of Europe (apart from Russia itself) is milder than you might expect in winter and houses in colder countries are usually very well-insulated. You might see slightly more *very* old people die than usual (people who only had a few months left anyway), but the average European could make it through a typical 21st century winter without any heating at all (not that that will happen anyway).
The starvation stuff, of course, is total horseshit.
All bollocks. If energy gets too expensive, the industrial use will be cut down, not civilian. Then that will be followed by energy tax reductions or other gov discounts.
Besides, only about 5 EU countries are dependant on gas, and the gas storages are already 75% full
This might be what the vatnik misconception is rooted in
Historically speaking, if Russia somehow had a gas shortage (or indeed any of the many other shortages it has experienced over the years) then civilian usage is absolutely the first thing the government would cut
After all, what is the value of a few thousand frozen peasants compared to the profits to be made from cousin anatolys tractor factory and all the kickbacks you get from keeping it open?
it's another classic example of my favorite vatnik cope, when you accuse someone else of what's happening in Russia.
Europe doesn't have a huge problem, it's all very overblown, because fundamentally the issue is that Russian gas is basically free, because you don't have to pay much in the way of logistical costs, which are the main issue with gas. Sure, it might get a bit more expensive, but Russia will realize relatively quickly that they depend on the Euros much more than Europe depends on their gas, so once the money stops coming, they'll have to figure something out and do so quickly.
Selling gas isn't really an easy thing, after all.
A lot of people in Northern Europe among the poorest will have to choose between heating and food in this winter, because gas has been priced out of ordinary people's pockets. It will be nasty, though probably not apocalyptic.
Industry will be hit harder, though again, there's other issues there, like inflation and the massive drought.
Let's not lie to ourselves, it will be a painful winter.
But at the same time, Russia is literally burning away excess gas they cannot sell by a such a volume it's causing notable ecological damage around their gas fields. They are literally burning away hundreds of billions in order to sabotage Europe, and at the same time undermining their own reputation as a reliable seller.
Hate to bring serious discussion into this thread but doesn't it look like this AGM-88 actually hit something? The fuse, warhead, and guidance section are all gone. I would imagine if a HARM was lobbed at maximum aerodynamic range, glided to a target, fused within a few meters of a radar and then the remains impacted a soft field and slid, that the OP is EXACTLY what it would look like.
Yeah the warhead would be gone, depending on the HARM variant and kind of warhead. It's supposed to blastfrag the radar and only has a 140ish lb warhead. I can't say I've ever seen them do testing so I don't know how much of the missile would be left, but its entirely possible this is from a successful hit.
>psychological effect
They are bitbulling them in, firing without any emitter locked and hoping they find whatever the pilot is seeing on his RWR.
It's much less effective that actually having it intergrated with the planes EW and MFDs but it's better than nothing.
>inb4 shills from both sides can't handle the fact pitbulling HARMs is both shit and better than nothing
Or they didn't really develop a fully operating way to launch them from a Mig so they're just yeeting them in.
I don't think they even can.
That's exactly what they're doing. It doesn't help that the MIG-29's RWR is absolutely abysmal for 4th gen.
is this the SEAD equivalent of the "four year old spotted, pitbull go" meme?
More like releasing a pitbull in a playground, sometimes no one is playing on the monkey bars
>/k/ is discussing effectiveness of a weapon from Russian images only
I'm sure it's very effective way to gauge how effective it is from pictures Russians took when it failed and won't publish all vehicles and radars it destroyed
the russians have admittedly (not publicly but privately on telegram channels) to losing several vehicles including at least one TOR battery.

>in years
newbies are always the biggest drama queens
They are rigging them on mig29. I wonder what they use for radar emission detecting, surely not migs own shitty berioza? That thing doesent show shit
Using the missiles own seekers, hence "pitbulling". You can't control what they go for, but there's a reasonable chance they'll sniff out a big fat nearby radar if they are lobbed in the right direction & close enough
It could be worse.
This is why I don't fly the Mig-21.
>He doesn't memorize locations of SA-10 sites and then uses HMCS to intercept incoming missiles with 9Xs
ngmi
the missile has it's own seeker.
You mean "maddog" , pitbull is a hoggit saying
Dunning Kruger moment. Pitbull is the correct term.

is at MPRF active range
MAGNUM [system, location] [A/S] [EW] Launch of FRIENDLY anti-
radiation missile.
No entry for maddog
If anything you said had anything to do with with anything, I'm sorry but I didn't understand it.
>one out of dozens of missiles failed
>was that a statistical probability considering these are bottom of the pile stocks near their expiration date?
>no, surely they're just firing them at random for psychological effect
Another possibility is the crew of the targeted radar turning it off on time or the launching pilot making a mistake.
>is the crew of the targeted radar turning it off
It has to be on so they can shoot it down.
>*it has to be on so they can see it, fail to acquire it, and get hit by it

the greatest value will be the change in behavior of russian sam operators, who will now be afraid to run their radars constantly
Will a S400 even detect these missiles coming at them? The Tor operators only detected it seconds before impact and didn't know it was coming for them until it struck.
It's also taken out S300 systems already, so it seems that even the major systems have trouble.
Only if the SEAD missile has an active radar seeker (like AARGM). HARM only has a passive seeker.
?
This webm is pure nostalgia, I remember when people started to say "see they are using their AA now they won't be raped by TB2s anymore".
This was like in March iirc.
how come nothing changed ? surely you can detect a Drone by radar, so what's their problem ?
even *if* the targeted emitter goes cold after a HARM launch, the missile will guide itself to the last known/perceived location of the emission and detonate there.
>lol i'm just gonna shut off my radar
is a tactic that hasn't worked since later generations of the AGM-45 Shrike.
Well other than those TORs and S300s they've killed. But anon, I need you to understand something.
If you get the sam unit to turn its radar off, you've suppressed them. So even if it was for "psychological effect" thats actually the point.
Russia literally doesn't understand SEAD and it shows.
this is how americans cope with the fact that they couldnt destroy the serbian anti air in the balkans
no one cares about the weird shit you just said
the anon you responded to is correct, spooking radars into turning off is a win
hell, shit misses, russian cum sucker, it happens, but if its enough to make the radar frick off while missing thats an easy win
COPE
Do you even know what SEAD means homosexual?
Yeah because serbians couldnt risk using their anti-air except for random potshots once in a full moon.
>f-117
>random potshot
i'd say accidentally turning on your radar at juuuuust the right time is a bit like a random potshot, yeah
Two f-117s were hit
Let me guess, it was just a giant fluke they managed to hit the worlds most advanced stealth plane twice?
unironically yes
Delusional shartistani
then why didn't they hit more?
hang on, aren't the people responsible quite open about the fact they got very lucky?
Yes, and they're best friends now. It's pretty adorable
>yo remember when your missile nearly mined me and i could not take a shit for a week after ejecting ? Shit was fricking hilarious
>yeah shit was cash lmao
>go against Serb AD doctrine by attempting to lock the aircraft three times, only succeeding on the third
>only detect aircraft due to bomb bay doors being open
>aircraft had no EW support, against USAF doctrine
Yeah, it was pretty lucky. I’m pretty sure the Serbian SAM operator that made a thread here last year said pretty much the same thing.
Also
>still didn’t prevent the bombing campaign.
It’s like getting the shit kicked out of you by Mike Tyson and then bragging that you managed to slap him once.
Oh okay, and what was the reason the second f117 got hit?
MuttBlack person cope is always funny
>damaged an aircraft
It’s over, America is finished, I’m seething so hard right now ameribros
>amerimutts cope hard with the story about the f117 shootdown being a fluke
>second f117 hit is confirmed
>haha it doesnt matter anyway!
Worse than vatBlack folk.
>hit
So it wasn't shot down?
Did it stop the bombing?
:O
I can already see the west collapsing
I can see your anus collapsing
I'm not into that stuff sorry
You better leave the thread then, because you are being ass ravaged boy
>Shoot down single digit aircraft
>Damage another
>This is such a victory for the Serbian that he will parade it around for decades on end because shooting down a single (1x) F-117 is the absolute best Serbia will ever do, ever, apparently.
Man, the Vietnamese must've completely 100% obliterated all of the USAF if even losing a single aircraft and damaging another is such a massive loss! The truth must be hidden from our eyes! Surely the reason Serbia succeeded in it's genocide was because it shot down ONE mostly-obsolete stealth aircraft!
Yes, hitting and destroying 2 of the most advanced stealth aircraft in the world against the most powerful coalition in the world who are attacking your small destitute country is pretty impressive
The muttBlack person seethe about this will never fail to entertain
DID IT STOP THE BOMBING
>of the most advanced stealth aircraft
>most advanced
Lol
Oh, the f117 wasnt advanced now? COPE
The f117 was literally shot down by an SA3. Made in the 60s
Kek
Cope with what? It didn't affect or even stop the raping you guys were getting, and the loss could be so easily replaced that it's trivial.
Did it stop the bombing?
>The f117
not "the", "an"
an f117 was shot down
there were others
the YF-23 and YF-22 existed by 1991
the F-22 first flew in 1997
the F-117 was old school by 1999 lol
I'm telling you, at some point before being driven out of Ukraine the Russians are going to blow up a HIMARS and they will be bragging about it in this exact same fashion twenty years from now
That’s fine.
>Interested observers at the time, I think, felt graciously willing to let them have the F117 shoot-down considering how badly we pulverized them.
the u.s ''let'' the serbians have the f-117 shootdown because it crashed and the serbians were parading it around. they had no choice. they then concocted the bomb bay door cope to save a national embarrassment
the second f-117 hit was never even officially reported and covered up (but widely known unofficially) until it was confirmed by one of the actual f-117 pilots who flew in the war on a podcast.
Pretty sure they coped by bombing you SerbBlack folk even more lol
>Serb calling anyone a mutt
Your kind are literal turko-slavic rape babies whose genetic makeup is more schizophrenic than a Jackson Pollock painting.
>It’s like getting the shit kicked out of you by Mike Tyson and then bragging that you managed to slap him once.
That would be a win in my book. I'll take an ass beating over getting vaporized anyway.
But the Serbs get vaporised either way so your point is moot.
Did nobody else notice this guy is just pretending there's a second time? Only one F-117 was ever shot down, and these sit here slurping semen trying to pretend one plane from the largest set of airforces ever in history is somehow a victory for themselves.
A second f-117 was hit but not shot down.
when?
They also claim they shot down 3 b-2s, but couldn't stop f-16s and tornados flying over Belgrade
>90’s tech hit 70’s tech.
The Serbs were using cel tower radiation to track our shit, I thought /k woulda known about that...
>worlds most advanced stealth plane
worlds *first* stealth plane, the F-117 was considered outdated at the time (the first F22 flew 1997), they were just so superior that the pilots were allowed to frick around
despite very unsafe technique (like bombing the same areas in multiple flyovers) only two were hit, pretty marvelous
>Oh, the f117 wasnt advanced now? COPE
relative to whatever "peer adversaries" think stealth means, likely yes, but the Pentagon wasn't particularly concerned over the shootdown since the stealth technology integrated in the F117 was already outdated... by US standards, not yours
It took a hungarian to shoot it down, tho.
>Russia is aiming to perform about as well as a country that had its capital bombed into submission
What did he mean by this?
Did that stop the bombings?
And that why Serbia won the wa-
oh wait
>the only AA in Serbia that survived the ass reaming was the one that drove into the woods and got never turned on except the one time they caught a F117 flying the same route with no cover because the Serbs were proving so toothless the USAF stopping taking even the most elementary of precautions
This is not quite the flex you think it is, Ljubomir.
lol no.
>have stated goal of defending Serb airspace and belgrade
>mutts fly all over the country with no issues
>Belgrade gets bombed on clear days at noon
>shoot three times as .many missiles as Iraq did in gulf war 1 and 2
>somehow shoot down fewer aircraft than Iraq or Afghanistan
so this is the power of russian cumchuggers....
shoot down fewer aircraft than Iraq or Afghanistan
>than Aghanistan
Jesus Christ that's bad.
>Three times as many missiles as Iraq in both wars
Jesus CHRIST that's a lot.
three times as .many missiles as Iraq did in gulf war 1 and 2
now do NATO
>NATO reportedly fired 743 HARMs during the course of the 78-day campaign, but could confirm the destruction of only 3 of the original 25 SA-6 batteries
oops.
Your battery is still mostly "intact" but completely fricking useless.
>he thinks NATO only reports a battery as ''destroyed'' if they blow up every single component of it
this is some sad sad giga cope
743 HARMs and 3 batteries.
I'll tell you what fren, if you think NATO sead is such a laughing stock then tell the serbs to start some shit in Bosnia again. NATO is ready for round 3 any time.
They’re moving troops to the Kosovo border again.
https://twitter.com/anonopsse/status/1563514496978927618?s=21&t=0JD-RNoeUDRKH9fWiIWkjg
Anon...
The s*rb AA defense shot down more of their own aircraft (5) than NATO aircraft (3).
>the X were proving so toothless the USAF stopping taking even the most elementary of precautions
Happens quite often, must suck for their families knowing their sons wouldn't have died if people didn't just stop caring about safety in an active war zone
That triggers the golem mutt.
and that's why kosovo is a part of sebi- oh right.
Heh you really got the best of us, that why we had to take over the responsibility of kosovo
Took out three bugmen just for fun. What a great time, you can rebuild the three jets but good luck reviving 1000 service men and 2000 civilians kek
Oh wow, its really impressive the multinational coalition with a trillion dollar army managed to bomb a tiny poor nation anon, you really got me there kek
>the Seethe begins
lmao
Youre the one screenshotting wikipedia battle boxes brah
Yet you're the one seething and paying everything you're off cooldown lmao
really impressive that an army picked on civilians for having the wrong ethnic mix
"Serbs entered this war under the rather childish delusion that they were going to genocide everyone else, and nobody was going to genocide them."
>that they couldnt destroy the serbian anti air in the balkans
The Serbtards never shut up about the bombings so I guess the air defenses didn't work so well.
I hope we get to bomb serbia again soon.
homies shoot down one stealth fighter by spamming the launch button after bombs start falling and think it means they've defeated the most advanced military on earth
Balt?
Yeah, I guess it was not that difficult to guess.
could be Luxembourg too or something
The US flew +90% of the air sorties against Serbia.
They also received some MATADORs early on, which are German/Israeli/Singaporean.
But yeah I don't see Israel getting too much involved.
>intact missile despite flying at literal rocket speeds and crashing into the ground.
X
But also isn't this just proof the madmen actually made it work with Russian tech somehow? Kinda neat to think about
I doubt it's that crazy
at the end of the day it needed an adapter to fit the rails of the MiG-29 and to be able to be electronically triggered, the missile can do its own work.
Not intact, looks like it's just the tail section
Ah, nice fake. Glad to see we're onto the "akshually everything the US uses is made in china now".
>Naval Weapons Center/China Lake
But it's made by Motorola.
Motorola is American
But isn't Motorola owned by Lenovo which is Chinese?
It wasn't in 1991. Is this whole board zoomers?
Lenovo only owns the consumer parts of Lenovo. The parts that still make militany radios/etc weren’t sold off.
Second Lenovo should be Motorola. Oops.
wtf, he aint dead and just making missiles for americans now?
(Same HARM)
trip on mandick
you need to take a break and go back to getting your hourly intake of interracial fetish porn, the national pastime of the "Serb".
>30JUNE1991
russians getting fricked by literal 30 year old western trash
' They're about to go bad, should we just give it to the Ukrainians ?"
Sounds like a win-win-win
> West saves on utilisation costs
> Ukraine gets weapons that are still usable and more modern than russian
> Russian mothers can buy new ladas (no abs and airbags tho)
Now that's just efficient.
That was my point when people would complain about the cost of pur aid. Most of what we were given was probably close to the end of life and would have just been shot at targets during war games.
>June 1991
this fricking missile is older than the current russia lmao
>born to mark soviet clay
>makes it 30 years late
Beautiful moment.
>US wins the cold war with Regan
>Over 30 years later the neosoviets are getting uppity
>Dust off the original weapons from back then and another senile elderly president
>Party like it's 1989
>getting btfo by 30 year old A model HARMs
Jesus Christ, Russia.
Oh the irony
The missile knew what he was (Russian) at all times, by knowing what he wasn't (human) and in it's infinite mercy granted him the sweet release from being a Russian conscript, by vaporizing him instantly with 66kg of high explosive.
>1991
LMFAO
>Expiration date 30 June 1991
>this fricking missile was made in the 80s
>its actually killing missile systems designed to counter it
These HARMs get to fight the war they were promised.
>EXPIRATION date
Holy mother of god that thing is old.
wait, that's expiration date?
>..ty exp.... date 30 june 1991
>warranty expiration date
oh no
oh nononono
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Russians eat 30 year old MRE's and fire cruise missiles manufactured well before that, its only fitting that they get fired at with weapons just as old because you can afford to be ironic.
>1991
This missile is a few weeks older than I am Jesus
It's eight years younger than I am. I'm glad the war of American missiles destroying Russian military formations I was promised in the 1980s has finally come to pass. I just wish Ukrainians weren't dying to make it happen.
>Warranty Expiration 1991
What are the chances they dug this thing out of some museum where it's been sitting since decades just so they can pretend to have countered a single HARM?
it's missing the entire front section so I wonder if it detonated in mid-air
Likely did since the warhead section is gone.
So does it jettison its ass end like those torpedoes when it locks on target or is this just debris?
The fragmentation warhead in the front explodes over the radar target.
oh shit
now everyone knows how to unlock fin!
>Implying Russians are literate in even their own language, much less anyone else's.
Isn't this thing missing nearly half of the missle since those things up front are the attachment points for the fins?
So it's empty tube celebration 2.0?
Yes,
would indicate this is a 30 year old AGM-88.
US is using AGM-88E now.
Correct, it's just the rocket motor, marked with the brown band.
>into Russian territory
Which Oblast are you from?
I wonder if A-10's can be used to fire HARMs "properly", that way they could be hell of a lot more useful for both SEAD and as PGM carriers.
Not integrated to the A-10, but I'd imagine that's a smaller step to take than integrating them to MiGs
nope, Hawgs can't do it. but the A-10 is also an unfit launch platform because the slower the plane is at launch, the shorter the range of the missile. and you wanna be as far from the AA as possible when launching shit at an active AA site.
but they could probably be able to launch 'em after a software update, there's nothing special about the AGM-88 that needs some unique pylon or launcher.
So my childhood was a lie, this whole time...
Weird thing is that it was a wonderweapon in the game and you always had them equipped. Long range radar on approach to target? Gone. Shilka targeting you? Gone. Migs painting you with their radar? Gone, if you launched straight on. But yeah, in real life where there's MANPADs everywhere and the A-10 is flying low, probably not much use...
use on signal imitators
??????
PROFIT
so OP wheres the other half of the Missile?
do not worry about it, payload definitely didn't blow up Russian SAM
So, it missed. Whoop-de-fricking-doo, shit happens. Especially when you're having to jury-rig your planes to just launch the damn things.
>blindly launch
>anti-radar missile
>Ukraine gets HARM
>Russia gets HARMed
>one rocket malfunctioned
>Vatnicks parade it up and down the net
T-totally doesn't work, p-please stop sending weapons HATO, Puccia supper stronk, totally is wining!!!
how many threads is that now?
Get ready to see the same missile photographed in 458 different places in the coming months like the "3 identical Stinger boxes" traveling circus.
I wonder what the calls sound like between the various regional commanders who have to organize parading around the same handful of weapon systems.
Why do you think they're hiding where the warhead struck kek
so it it safe to say vatniks are getting harmed by these missiles?
Yes. It's another "These are useless, p-please stop sending them to Ukraine!" kind of propaganda.
>HARM
Here is You new "gamechanger" weapon sister.
what's the deal with serbs anyway? i thought there was a broad consensus in the 00s that the war was fricking abominable, but now they seem to want another pop at it. is it millennials and zoomers coming of age and being edgy without a full understanding of the consequences?
we didn't bomb them enough
>what is the deal with Serbs
Eternal asshurt at losing every war they fought in.
The Yugoslav wars and the 99 bombing is just the latest and most humiliating example of it.
Seriously, just read up on the frickery they were up to during the breakup:
>crying to Russia that the other countries don't want to play with you anymore
>crying to the world that those meanie Slovenes and Croat Nazis are being super mean and don't want to be in a country with them.
>demilitarising Croatia and leaving it defenceless while you plan to arm ethnic Serbs at the same time
>attacking Croatia and Slovenia for their completely legal separation
>despite being one of the biggest armies in Europe, still get beaten back by fricking Slovenia and ragtag Croat units armed with hunting rifles and WW2 junk
>get Grozny-d in Vukovar
>ape out in Bosnia
>get pasted so hard in '95 that you b***h and cry genocide to the UN
What happened in Kosovo was just the sweet cherry on top of the massive humiliation cake.
God you people.
Especially in when it comes to stopping petty wars and chimpouts in Europe, considering the sensitive situation there after the fall of communism.
>hurr a UN resolution was just a ploy to distract from clinton's issues
Serbnigs can use the 117 cope as much as they like.
They still managed to lose against fricking Slovenia.
Serbia really is a no country if his only achievement in the whole history of mankind is shooting down a 30-year-old plane.
No wonder Kosovo wanted out.
>Serbia really is a no country if his only achievement in the whole history of mankind is shooting down a 30-year-old plane.
I mean...
Nobody wants to believe that there’s a pair of ex RAF/Luftwaffe tornados that were recently retired flying around unmarked with “volunteer” pilots. Instead they believe that in the last 6 months the US somehow integrated the harm to work with Russian fire control systems on migs.
the whole point of them letting the HARM search itself in bullpup mode is that they *aren't* integrated
Weren't the poles to Kering with mounting HARM on their own MIGs? How hard would it be to transfer some of the notes to the Ukranians?
Afaik the poles only integrated nato IFF and radios. The weapon systems were still Russian
I fricking wish the US would get revenge for Vietnam/Korea and put American pilots in the air.
Not a bad way to use them. You might be blind, but the missile isn't
I've been collaborating with a former Wild Weasel pilot lately and from what he tells me these things have been literal wonder waffles since Vietnam
>blindly
They're preprogrammed for GPS coordinates. But they also seek an active radar on approach.
On the other hand Ukraine got supplied with very old missiles, so some failures are to be expected.
It's just the ass-end, did the Vatniks steal the warhead to eat it or something? It doesn't look like it exploded
Blindly launching them towards where you think radars will be is an OK tactic but not ideal.
>This missile was built to kill Soviets, but since it outlasted them it had to settle for this.
Baste
I love how everyone took the bait that two f117s were hit.
A quick google search will show you that two were hit
>built too late to kill commies
>built just in time to kill commeis' children
OK so there's this talking point that Russian shills are constantly bringing up now detailing how Europe is gonna starve and freeze during the winter season without Russian gas, with the result of course being the public support for NATO magically going down to zero..
Now obviously not being European myself I turn to the anons in this thread to clarify, this whole scenario has very little basis in reality right? Because the way vatniks describe it sounds like we're still living in fricking medieval times when peasants would freeze to death during a harsh winter
If russia stops selling gas to eaurope, the russian economy will literally collapse. So all this gas flexin is just a show.
What camo is that?
