are britishers secret KGB agents? what the frick is this!? fricking anti tank gun? Do they understand that it's not 1940's? These things will kill more ukrainians than russians

Seeing how Russians still push forward with little to no recon, why would this be a bad thing?
How many does your country still use little vatBlack person?
Bruh the MT-12 has been used by both sides in 2015.
You can probably shoot trough a dozen BTRs and BMP-s with those lmao
I didn't realize the Russians had suddenly developed an immunity to APFDS rounds.
Hello John from Ohio Oblast, yes British are Russian, very bad
Its what they have right? Its only a problem when the invading force is using such weaponry, not the defenders.
>muh african republics
They are fake proxies created for the purpose of destabilization. They aren't defenders in any right.
seems to be working fine
KINO
Why don't they just mount them onto MT-LBs and make them into make shift tank destroyer/gun carriage/assault gun? It worked decently enough back in the days. Stationary direct fire AT guns are basically death traps these days.
Just the gun has a much smaller silhouette, can be concealed in shrubs easier, an MTLB doesnt provide enough armor to make it worth being stuck in the crew compartment, with a static gun you can have the crew hiding near the gun to man it if armor is approaching
But with all the artillery spams from Russia. You simply can't afford to not stay mobile. And it's meant to be a gun carriage, not a tank. So MT-LB's armor isn't really nearly as important as it's mobility.
Good point, but Ukraine is largely plains. you can see till the end of the earth's curve in most places, provided buildings aren't in the war. why not post up some tank snipers? but i definitely see their flaws for urban fightings and most modern pitched battles
all HATO lies
The MT-12 is already being used in Ukraine with a specific "Don't engage tanks with it, moron" doctrine
It works just fine since 90% of the shit Russia put on the roads AREN'T tanks.
I am curious at this point as to whether it can kill T-62s, though.
It can absolutely kill a T-62 from the front. It could kill most tanks from the side.
Remember - it's a 100mm gun, the same on the T-55. It can still use the same SABOT and HEAT rounds available to the T-55. Some of the later cold war designs had penetration values between 300 and 500mm of pen
Also I do find it weird that people think it's just a slab of metal/material that's somehow impenetrable if you don't get all the way through.
Even non penetrating hits can mission kill, or cause spalling to frick up internals.
>I am curious at this point as to whether it can kill T-62s, though.
It ABSOLUTELY could. The T-62 doesn't even have composite armor with the exception some 1980s bolt-on upgrades in a few particularly vulnerable spots.
Hit it anywhere else where the armor is just WWII-spec solid steel and you'll punch clean through with any decent anti-tank weapon.
It doesn't stand a chance against the 100mm APFSDS and HEAT rounds from an MT-12 even from like 2KM away.
You could kill one with an 84mm Charlie-G firing original ammo from the 1940s. You could kill one with an RPG-7.
If the armor penetration tables on wikipedia are even remotely accurate, you could punch through the front glacis with a German 88mm PaK43 from over a kilometer away.
>hook it up to a camera in a tree line
>point at road
>remotely fire from miles away
>if enemy sees it, "oh no, we lost a piece of rusting equipment from World War Fricking Two"
>if enemy doesn't see it, they get fricked on with a gun from World War Fricking Two
It's like a roadside EFP mine that can be used a couple hundred yards away.
how is it remotely triggered?
You frickin yank on a long ass cable from behind cover when your spotter says "go"
There were some great vids of the guys in 2014 using one of these to shoot at the airport iirc.
yanking on a cable that's a couple hundred yards long?
color me skeptical
Ok but how about making it self propelled and remote controlled too
>1940
Seeing how Amerimutt plastic wunderwaffen are failing Id say thats a more viable solution than spending billions on muttBlack person junk.
excuse me calm down with the racial language
this post was made with an extra side of seethe.
>MT-12K, or 2A29K Kastet, is an upgraded version, compatible with 9M117 anti-tank guided missiles. Missiles are launched in the same manner as ordinary munitions. These anti-tank missiles were designed to improve accuracy of the gun at long ranges. Special kit needs to be mounted on the gun in order to use these missiles. These missiles have laser guidance. Once the missile is launched the gunner only has to keep the crosshair on the target, and the missiles steers itself automatically. Maximum range of fire is 4 km. Missile penetrates 550-660 mm of steel armor behind explosive reactive armor. Also range has no effect on penetration capabilities of the missile. The MT-12K was introduced in 1981.
It can fire missiles if need be, so there is nothing wrong with it. Also why wouldn't they train Ukrainians on weapons they have? The UK is also training them on L116's (I think).
might as well send them museum PIATs
of course the government goes to shit once Boris leaves, everyone else there is a crypto pinko
Those guns are in widespread use there on both sides
