Damn how I love shotguns, so beautiful, so simple, very versatile and with a very wide variety of ammunition, I wish I had the embodiment of absolute power in my hands.

It's true, shotguns are the best small arm ever created.
It's great to know that someone has the same tastes as yours, high five bro
It certainly is the swiss army knife of guns. Which is to say they're for poorgays who can't afford tools or have any use for them beyond novelty.
You talk like a gay and your shit's all moronic
>The most commonly owned and utilitarian gun in history is a novelty
ARgays are a cancer that we have to address before it's too late
Had to deal with some ARgays who thought you couldn't put scopes on shotguns
Good luck hitting a flying dove with your AR, numbnuts
>Bird hunting is not utilitarian If it's not for engaging enemy infantry at 300 yards it's not a tool
>t. cosplaying ARgay
>>bird hunting is not utilitarian
Can't tell if actually moronic or bait. Either way kys
...You couldn't tell that was sarcastic? Even with the fricking signoff?
>either way kys
It was neither way, but let's move on from this embarrassment
you're moronic for real
Imagine being so poor that you can't afford a shotgun on top of all your other guns and then cope posting like this.
I have a garage full of tools and my leatherman sees about as much use as all of them combined.
Interestingly my shotgun is also the only gun I’ve ever actually used for anything other than target shooting.
>I wish I had the embodiment of absolute power in my hands
Can you not own a shotgun or something?
Whats your favorite shotgun /k/?
Mine 😀
>favorite I wish I had
Sjogren
The one you train with
Shotguns are by far the most versatile firearms out there
Load some #8 shot for clays& doves
Load some #6 shot for pheasants& grouse
Load some #4 shot for squirrels& rabbits
Load some frick-hot #5-6-7 shot for turkey
Load some BB or BBB for waterfowl
Load some #00 buck for home defense, hogs, coyotes, and close deer
Load up a 1oz slug and knock down deer, elk, and bear out to 100yd
Goddamn I love shotguns
>old man gives me his mossberg 500 cause he’s too old for his shoulder to handle it
>take it home and open the case
>wood dust(?) or some shit all over it
>locked rearward, cannot bring forward
>I must be doing something wrong, first shotgun
>can’t fricking get the thing to work, do I need to depress the lever? Wtf
>decide to take it apart
>grease EVERYWHERE
>such a thick layer of grease it locked up the forearm
>gun is almost 40 years old and probably was never detailed properly
>every single piece of equipment is so saturated it’s fricking unusable
>take everything out, even disassemble the trigger group, sticky as frick
>wipe each piece and give them 2-3 run through of CLP
>takes 3 hours to put the trigger group back together
>get everything clean and gently lubed
>runs snap caps smoothly now
I have some concerns,
1- could all the dusty shit be wood dust due to termites in the wood furniture or something?
2- when I end up trying live ammo is there any way I could blow my shit up if I incorrectly completed the trigger assembly? I’m pretty sure I got everything how it needs to be but it was my first time doing anything like that. Glad I did cause now I know the gun intimately but I just dont want to frick my shit up
>1- could all the dusty shit be wood dust due to termites in the wood furniture or something?
Most likely not, I'd be shocked if that was the case. If termites were present the wood would basically fall apart in your hands; it'd be very obvious
>2- when I end up trying live ammo is there any way I could blow my shit up if I incorrectly completed the trigger assembly?
No
You're fine. Its a mossberg 500. He probably just kept it in his shop or truck, and particulates like sawdust tend to cling to grease. I highly doubt it's termites. Like the other anon said, you could squeeze the furniture with your hand and it would crumble if that were the case. Also, if you put the trigger assembly back together incorrectly, you wouldn't be cycling snap caps. Check to see what choke it has and then just run it.
So long as the bolt locks securely you should be fine
Based refurbisher. It’s oddly satisfying to bring a gun back to life. I had to do the same for my dad.
>going to the range, dad says grab whatever you want from my stuff if you want
>decide to grab his Ruger SP101 for shits and giggles
>know it’s his nightstand gun, so retrieve it from the drawer
>open it up to clear it
>wtf can’t even depress the cylinder release button
>finally get it open to find it’s totally clogged with lint, pet hair, and grime
>doubt the double action would even cycle
>scrub it down with oil and a whole bag of wipes
>give it a good later of lubricant
>works smooth now
>realize later if he needed that gun in a break in situation we’d be fricked
Why can’t boomers take care of their stuff?
Man, I had something like that happen with my dad. I opened a pistol rug up to find his S&W Model 36 and it was loaded with 5 different types of decades old corroded .38spl. I doubt any of them would have fired without something catastrophic happening. I'm talking split cases on two of them and they were unfired. He'd had that revolver for at least 35 years, and it was the only handgun he had. After I b***hed him out about it and tried to get him to understand how irresponsible and dumb that was, I went and bought him a new S&W 637 without a lock and some actually good ammo and I traded it for his 36. Fricking boomers, man.
>After I b***hed him out about it and tried to get him to understand how irresponsible and dumb that was
I feel for your old man; must be a real drag having such a whiney& uncouth son
Boomer mindset. Nothing is ever their fault. Just constant projection and never taking responsibility for their own frickups.
It's important to be hard on our parents, sometimes.
They spent their best years whipping us into shape, the least we can do is return the favor.
Take it to a gunsmith and have them check the lock-up. Shouldn't be more than forty, fifty dollars.
Anyone have experience with 10 gauge shotties?
Yeah. Remington SP 10. Absolutely slaughters geese and ducks.
What I want is a tactical semi-auto 10 gauge. I think it could really take off.
If you want to pluck geese& crane out of low-orbit then get yourself a 10g with a 30"-36" barrel. The heavier the better to absorb the recoil
I love mine 🙂
My latest scattergat. S&W 3000, made in Japan by Howa. It's basically a metric 870.
Luv me shotguns simply because it goes boom louder
Planning to get a semiauto for duck and pheasant, but I hold pumps in high regard
>9 gauge is effectively .80 caliber/20mm
>Past army programs to create new airbursting grenade launchers didn't just make a heavy 9 gauge semi-auto shotgun that could take 20mm grenade ammo so that breacher troops could alternate between CQC and fire-support with a magazine change
>be me
>have revolver that I love and have owned for most of my life
>one day my son comes in, wearing knee high socks, a skirt, and holding a shark stuffed animal
>he starts rooting through my shit for some reason
>finds my revolver that I was going to leave to him when I die
>he starts shrieking about me being irresponsible or something, I don't know, I wasn't really listening
>he prances out and slams the door behind him
>comes back a few hours later with another revolver and some ammo
>takes me favorite gun and leaves this one in its place thinking I won't notice
>finally decide to delete his number
>go back to watching football
>old man can't do shit without his hand being held
ChatGPT post
>revolver stealing troony post
So at what part did you make him your woman?
My 590 is one of my favorite purchases. Absolute beast. Very fun to shoot and not too bad on recoil.
590 or 590a1?
Just the 590. Didn’t want to shell out the extra cash for the same shotgun, but a little sturdier. I don’t expect to be very rough with mine.
I still believe the 590A1 is a marketing gimmick and the military specs for a service shotgun is overkill. My brother beats the hell out of his 590 hunting and skeet shooting and never had it explode on him.
It's way overbuilt even for the military. You'll never see the benefit of the heavy barrel, but it's just cool having the military grade model
Does the heavier weight help manage the recoil?
Not that I notice. I hunt with a regular field grade 500, and I can't tell any difference. Maybe if I shot them side by side, but it wouldn't be much. The extra weight does get tiring on the arms though, it's very noticeable in that way
>*shucks shotgun*
>DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHO YOU’RE STEALING FROM? YOU AND YOUR FRIENDS ARE DEAD
he's out, right?
Perhaps he's wondering why you would shoot a man before throwing him out of a bamk
Ironic foreshadowing
>tfw didnt buy a spas 12 when I found one at a gunstore in 2006 for $1,400
>tfw I never bought a VEPR12 because I thought they would always be around
>tfw I never bought an origin12 before my state became more gay
so many opportunities, even more moronation (from me)
What’s our generations “I wish I bought this when I could” gun? ARs? 30 round magazines? Semi automatic guns in general?
>ARs? 30 round magazines? Semi automatic guns
These are cheaper now then they've ever been moron gun grabber
I know. That’s the point. Back in the old days classic revolvers and wood stock rifles were dirt cheap, now they’re 1-2k or banned. What’s the current year “wow this is cheap” gun that will one day be banned or expensive?
Has anyone ever modified an 870 or 500 to give it a magazine cut off
Shotguns are a symbol of racism and white nationalism. Shotguns are the primary tool of choice for brutal extrajudicial punishment of those less fortunate than you, the shootings are often racially motivated as well.
Stop stop stop
I'm already on my way to the gun store. You don't need to advertise any more.
Captcha: NRGS
So close.
Blammo
wtf I love shotguns now
is there any good reason not to get a tube extension that goes past the barrel? I'd like for my FN SLP to be a 10+1 instead of an 8+1.
It'd look ugly and add a lot of weight to your shotgun when fully loaded. I don't think it'll be affected by gunfire even 18 inches out if you look at the shotguns 3gunners use.
Why
My rare and collectible lynx 12
>trying to rapid fire without getting range officer up my ass
>frick up, second shot slamfires and hits part of a light fixture
>get chewed out, dirty looks when i walk out
yep
>anon realizes that the rules were in fact made for people like him
i had it in my mind that it was incapable of slamfiring, oops. needless to say, i'll be looking for another range.
the frick is wrong with you dude
What’s a slamfire
Is 590a1 worth it if I want something to last me the entirety of the collapse of civilization and that can shoot slugs through engine blocks, withstand snow and mud, and be passed to my grandchildren? Or is it just a heavy c**t?
>very versatile and with a very wide variety of ammunition,
versatile in looks? How?
Also variety doesnt mean quality, i doubt you will ever stock up on and use dragons breath and shit, but that would be cool
You don't shoooooooot
Why are you here
Shotguns are only good for breaching or hunting
Currently my collection consists of a 92FS and an AR I built. I want to add a shotty to the collection, any recs? Should I go for semi or stick to pump? I don't have any brands in mind so far. I don't mind paying for quality but I'm also not into paying a bunch of money for a brand name.
You can pick up a Mossberg 590 or Remington 870. They're basically the glock 19 of shotguns in terms of reliability, parts availability, aftermarket, and they will last forever.
Got one of these used for 150. I lo e it. Its more compact than a pump because of the shorter action. My favorite gun for blasting snakes. Any one else into sinlge shotters.
