best tactical boot brands?

recently in the market for some new boots, but i'm completely unfamiliar with brands and dropping $100+ on boots that might be shit seems like a bad move.

looking for boots that can be used for both hunting and hiking in muddy and rugged areas. no clue if this is the right board, but i posted here because i'm looking for function over form.

Im not sure about good tactical boots. But you should avoid any chink made boots. Especially from rothco or any other tactical brands that outsource their shit to china.

I like my danner tachs a lot anon, but maybe you should look at actual waterproof hunting/hiking boots instead of tactical boots if you're expecting a lot of mud. Most tac boots have cloth panels for breathability and comfort, and goretex options are nice if you step in a puddle, but they aren't magic.

Based Danner enjoyer... Fortunately, they have a healthy line up of waterproof and hunting specific boots.

    Avoid these two brands.
Danner is really hit or miss.
LOWA QC is shit nowadays with soles getting destroyed after a single day's hike.

Go check rose anvil's videos for most Danner stuff. Plenty of bad there. Some models might be good but the majority isn't.

        >Lowa

        https://www.reddit.com/r/tacticalgear/comments/17dcq13/lowa_zephyr_boots_sole_wear/

There's more stories like this if you care to search. They seem to have some severe QC issues with their soles in the past 2 years or so.

It's the same old story as Salomon, brand becomes popular and starts cutting corners, banking on the reviews of older models.

If you're looking for something similar to jungle boots, the T8 BIFIDA is probably the closest between the two

my only complaint with the T8 was the sole grabbing mud and not clearing it efficiently, but otherwise it's an outstanding boot. I like the Altama jungle boots, but I'm mentally a boomer anyway

Avoid police boots, they know cops have a yearly uniform allowance so they make them shit quality so they have to buy new ones. 5.11 is notorious for this, even their pants rip from just sitting around the office. The boots shred nearly instantaneously the second they touch pavement. Bates makes some cheap-o uniform tactical boots as well. I have Danner hunting boots that are the most comfy boots I own, however I haven't put them to the test.

The absolute, hands down, best pair of boots I've ever owned are chinkshit boots called Indestructible Shoes. I'd be wary of knockoffs, but they're safety work boots that have lasted 5 years of daily use. Only just developing internal wear, and the insole they came with needed replacing about 4 years in. Outside they're still day 1 looking, and the soles still have tread. It's insane how lasting they are and that's part of their marketing. Extremely comfortable as well, but they will fit wide. Narrow shoes are an American thing, every other country they fit rather wide and comfy. They also look chinkish, but there's several designs to choose from. Be wary of knockoffs, it has to be the Indestructible Shoes brand with I

IMO the 5.11 pants (Apex pant) are fine, never had problems with them but they are not hard working laborers pants and I had a couple pairs go to absolute shit at the cuffs although they were admitted too long for me

Boots are terrible, had a pair that didn't last a year and I work an easy yard in corrections. They were splitting at the sides on all angles

There are racial differences in foot form. Long narrow shoes is a afro-mediterranian thing because their feet are long and narrow.

If your slip on boot isn’t a legit cowboy boot for riding and fricking cowgirls or a large rubber waterproof design you’ve either got a poorly designed cowboy style work wannabe gay moron boot or someone actual woman frick your ass boot.
