Are there any Soviet/Russia planes which are actually considered good?

The HGU-30 VTAS predates the Fulcrum's helmet cue sight by fifteen years.

          >HMD
HMS, and a rudimentary one at best. Not to mention the USN's VTAS program had already been developed, tested, improved, and canceled (a mistake to be fair) in the early 1970s.

MiG-21 was considered good when it came out. I-16 was also pretty good for a 1933 plane.

Probably easier to list the ones which really weren't anything great: (early) MiG-19s, MiG-23, Su-7, Tu-22 (not the M versions), a stretch but maybe also the MiG-25.

MiG-25 with western materials would’ve been a beast but the Soviets built it out of melted down cooking pans and made it too fat

No polacks, your plane is old and shitty. You need to increase your military spending and replace them with the F-15EX. Boeing needs more contracts.

those coffins are flying only because Poland is expected to maintain air-force of nearly 200 aircraft - those would be scrapped if not for that reason - same with hinds actually

They have a contract with Boeing to replace the Mi-24 with AH-64. Now need another contract from Boeing for the F-15EX to replace Su-22.

A10 should be retrofitted as ground based anti-air. Flip plane upside-down, put on turret, put SAMs on the hard points and connect a radar to it.

MIG-15 and 17 were very good bomber interceptors. Not so good at air superiority but that wasn't what they were designed for and not what the pilots trained for.

US and Soviet fighters were pretty well matched back then but once the F15 entered it was over for the Soviets and they never came up with a capable counter to it. Russian Federation produced nothing of quality

Also the Su-57 is as stealthy as a Super Hornet. lol

there are lots of good soviet veichles, the problem comes that oonce they are introduced the us shits out a veichle that is better in any way.
    >mig-15 was pretty good
    >f-86 gets upgraded so much that becomes better than the mig-15 in any way possible

    >mig-21 is pretty good
    >f-4 gets upgraded and pilot trained so much that it's not a contest anymore

    >mig-29/su-27 is pretty good
    >f-18 does everything the mig-29 can do but better and carrier operated
    >f-15c/e
    >f-16c
    >aim-7M

the only difference now with russia is that now produces already outdated veichles
    >su-57 gets introduced
    >900+ f-35 already exist

      >the only difference now with russia is that now produces already outdated veichles
same thing was already true when the mig-29 and su-27 came out. at that time the f-15 was alreadyin service for nearly a decade

When the Mig-29 entered service, the F-16 only had short range IR missiles and the F-15 had no chaff or flare

while the fulcrum posed a new threat which had to be adapted to it certainly wasnt better then f-15 or f-14 my point still stands

The only part I don't agree with is the mig 15 (and subsequently the 17, since it's basically a 15 on roids). The 86 for the most part was inferior to the 15, it's saving grace being very good pilots compared to the ones it faced

the best was obviously the La-7

By today's standards? Maybe only the SU-35 and the SU-57.

The MiG-15 was the last Soviet/Russian plane that could trade remotely evenly with its American counterpart.

Going way back, the Ilyushin Il-2, and the Yak-3.

As far as the post WWII stuff, the MIG-21

MiG 15 was a match for the Sabre and the Yak 9 was a pretty okay late piston fighter

The newer you go the more advanced electronic miniaturization matters and the further the Soviets fell behind

I'd honestly call the Yak-3 a better plane than the Yak-9

Initially during the cold war the MiG-21 and the MiG-29 were quite capable as well as the MiG-25 although they were bested almost immediately (within a matter of months in some cases).

There are many, both when they were introduced and now. Today I'd say mig31, su 35 and su 34 are effective planes.

Su-22 is a shit plane and the polish air force would be the first to say it. A fundamentally deeply flawed plane right from the design stage

You could have said flanker or something but mot this

MiG-15 was a good match against the F-86. Things go downhill from there, and Soviet aircraft gradually get worse and worse in comparison to their Western counterparts due to the West's edge in electronics. The end result is the massive capability gap between F-35 the Su-57.

    Mig-15 for it's time
    Mig-21 for it's time.
    Mig-29
    Su-27 and it's family
    Mi-8 helicopter and it's family

Just look at what has been widely exported. If it sees commercial success, there must be a reason.

yes, and the reason is because russia is selling junk to gullible brown people with the promise that it will make them global contender
