Thank god you pointed this out! We were this close to having a single day without this same thread up. Everyone hurry and make the same exact posts again!
Kind of fricking baller that we might be issuing every squad a coked up 240. m80a1 looked pretty fricking wicked, and this shit looks a lot worse if you end up eating enfilade fires at 75m.
The M110A1 CSASS (the closest caliber and overall length rifle to compare to the XM5) is 15lbs with scope, ammo, and suppressor, and 8.4lbs unloaded, with no scope, and no suppressor.
The XM5 is 10lbs with a suppressor and expected to be around 13.5lbs with the scope and ammo. Still a good 1-1.5lbs lighter than the M110A1.
Well it's using a 3–20×50 scope that weighs 2lbs which doesn't help, but the XM5's XM157 (1-8x LPVO with ballistic computer) optic is expected to similarly be around 2lbs
Yes, since infantry is largely useless in modern war apart from physically manning checkpoints and providing security for intel and pipehitters, they needed something that can penetrate IV. Weight doesn’t matter because you don’t patrol on foot anymore
You’re an idiot bud, the us military is half the size it was 30 years ago and has the least foreign deployed since before ww1. There is zero (0) people doing foot patrols now and never will again. The American strategy going forward will be to pick a side and provide weapons and intelligence to them like we are doing with ukraine and taiwan. Bullet sponges need not apply
I worry that women won't be able to hold it up for very long before their arms get tired. They field tested these with women too, right? And not just Lena Miculek, she's had so much training she's too precious for the battlefield.
Did you have no choice but to be a b***h?
you ever think that it is too complicated?

>did they really?
When you realize its purpose is to kill Americans it kinda make sense.
>can't actually defeat Lv.4 plates
lol
lmao
Because they ditched the buffer assembly, it mitagated so much recoil that the AR became a world renowned weapon
wtf is with the recent FM15 shitposting lately?
You really want to shoot a fricking 7lbs Wby Magnum? You might not notice that shit when your bloods up, but you're meat's going to pay on range day.
isnt it 15 lbs? I remember hearing that somewhere
probably due to 80k psi loadings lol
Thats the LMG version

It's one of the lightest rifles in it's caliber.

Sounds like the CSASS supressor needs to go on a diet then.

>Comparing a designated marksman rifle to what’s supposedly meant to be the standard issued weapon
Like I said, it's the closest comparable rifle.
It's 7.62 with a ~2lbs scope, suppressor, 20 round mag, and has an overall length within 3/4 of an inch of the XM5.
It's supposed to be to middle ground for 5.56 and 7.62
The m110 has a 20” barrel and the xm5 has a 13.5” barrel (rated for 2x the PSI), thats at least a lb right there
M110A1 has a ~16.3" barrel.
That's horrible for an infantry rifle, the M1 was lighter weight than this, and has a lot less recoil.
>the M1 was lighter weight than this
And it also had no scope and suppressor and only 8 rounds - what's your point?
>long as frick
>way less ammo
>lower power round
>no scope
>no suppressor
Really not sure why you think it's somehow relevant.
>.30-06
> low power
That's going to be a no from me chief
>he's quoting me but he's not actually quoting anything i said
Look again chief.
>lower power round
That's a fact, 6.8x51 is going to be doing 80k+ PSI.
I think one big advantage of the platform is that it's going to be impossible for a woman to live it for any appreciable period of time.
Noodle armed Black person.
Bench doesn't do shit for lactic acid build up, ironically. Noodle armed isometric nerd workouts do.
my block2 with elcan, light and loaded mag is 10.6 lbs.
XM5 will be ~13.5-14lbs when loaded and accessories applied.
Stop being a noodle arm manlet. XM5 is great. Cope and seethe, homosexual.
my issued 5.56 was 11 lbs. Its not that heavy.
Chile made the Sig design into a sub-8 pound full power battle rifle.
Listen a computer scope and flying cameras have *completely* changed warfare so we need to go back to battle rifles.
Its gonna be the M14 all over again and theyll just use 5.56 sigs which will piss off Beretta more
>Brown gun
Gross
Has to do with keeping the gun cool, not because they expect to fight in a desert again anytime soon.
FDE is based. Frick off with your black guns, Black person
They had choices, but the military is notoriously bad at making those in matters concerning what equipment to issue.

Don't you have some no-shave chits to sign or something? Maybe time to do your monthly 20 minute PT session?
Not an argument, not even true neverserve
Thus has it always been, anon.

post dd214
10lbs for a battle rifle isn't that bad.
Can you imagine the people the army is trying to recruit nowadays trying to lug that around on a march?
