Yuropoor here.
I want to buy a manual flip knife for everyday-carry. The blade should not exceed 4 inches (shorter would be better) and the knife should be thin while still being a steel or aluminium body. Weight is no concern and I don't want to spend more than 200 $/€ on it.
I want it to be entirely US-made, since we don't really have competent flip knife manufacturers in Europe. None who ask reasonable prices anyway.
A colleague recommended Kershaw to me. They offer a wide array of knives that fit my requirements, but maybe you guys know more.
Also, the law regarding knives is very liberal here in Austria. There are practically no boundaries. I'm not sure if I can just order one from the USA and have it shipped, though. Does anyone have experience in this matter?
Pic related is the kind and shape I'm looking for (Kershaw Dividend).
Easy choice. The Kershaw Bel Air just came out. It's the best deal today on a Magnacut knife (arguably the best current pocket steel knife). USA made, crossbar lock, 3" blade, $150
Hogue Deka is the other Best Deal right now. Slightly bigger blade than the Bel Air.
Are there knife stores there where you could handle them in person, to get a better idea of the size you want?
Kershaw is a pretty good brand (stick to the "made in US" models they do have some chink shit out too), Dividend would be a good general use knife but may be slightly chunkier than you realize. Not so much thats its unusable or anything, I have the slightly larger Link and carry it around pretty often. The "onion" models are much slimmer but less robust. Big fan of the Leak but it's almost more like a doctors knife than a general utility knife and the tip is prone to snapping (due to being so fine).
I have a Kershaw Link and I like it. It's quite heavy though. If you plan on carrying this thing instead of a gun for self defense just get a Karambit TDI instead, flip knives are a meme.
>calls flip knives a meme
>recommends meme knife instead
The TDI is anything but a meme. It's a much, much better option for a self defense knife than literally any folder you can think of. If you seriously believe you know enough about knife fighting to be able to use a folder effectively under stress you are seriously overestimating yourself (or filipino, in which case carry on). Personally I know I'm a moron and would just revert to punching shit so a TDI type knife makes sense.
I bought a Kershaw Leek like 15 years ago and I have never replaced it, that would be what I recommend.
I fricking loved my Kershaw Leek, I lost it some time ago and never found it. I rechecked the prices recently and they were high as hell for a Leek nowadays.
ZT 0450
dont mind the carbon fiber in pic rel there is a full titanium one out there, which is actually cheaper
you can find it for right around 200€,
Expensive knives are moronic. Get a bunch of $15 Ganzo axis locks.
sucks to be poor
What does a $100+ US made knife do that a $15 Chinese knife can't?
kershaws are fine. with the good for the price caveat. if importing it to europe jacks the price up 2x or 3x its not worth it.
have a real warranty
And what do you need a warranty for when you can buy 10 durable Chinese axis lock knives for the cost of one American knife?
?feature=shared
Are you gonna carry 10 knives on you so you have another when it breaks while you need it?
Its for people who may lose it or break it regardless of quality. Even a fancy expensive knife can take only so much abuse before snapping. So if you think it will get lost, stolen, or broken by idiot Cub Scouts, a bunch of cheap knives can be a good option.
Not support the fricking CCP.
it doesn't fund the commie bug people
spoken like a broke wigger that only buys from Temu
>a $100+ US made knife do that a $15 Chinese knife
since they're both made in China you're getting $85 worth of quality control and customer service.
Plenty of excellent things come from China but never has the rule been more iron: You Get What You Pay For
This,
Has the added bonus of, if you go to one of the many locations in Europe where they go “no sharps” and they take your knife to be destroyed, oh well, $15, let me grab another one from the pile.
Or alternatively you have to use it, and then the police go “no it’s evidence”
Order a knife from Milwaukee tool.
I prefer Spyderco but Kershaw is very nice too. And for reference the Civivi brand actually makes good products at a reasonable price. But for your specific budget, you can get a good American made Spyderco Paramilitary 2 with micarta scales and premium steel.
I recommend you check out BladeHQ.com
Extrema ratio bf1 or bf2
I have a Kershaw Dividend, the shape of the knife (both handle and blade) are really nice. But it's a spring assisted knife so the spring can wear and break and it might be a pain to replace if you're out of country. Also the spring means it's not as fun to play with.
I got it back when they were selling it with a M390 blade for $90. Knife prices have really gotten out of hand in the last few years.
