Complete construction the Ukraina, just to rub in the loss of the Moskva.
Also get rid of all the dogshit Soviet naval weapons and rebuild the ship as an AEGIS cruiser

It would be so wildly expensive to complete a Slava class (that's been sitting there) with Western tech, but would be a beautiful flagship.

That’s not a terrible idea actually. Ukraine’s primary naval opponent is one of the largest Navies on earth, specifically the black sea fleet. So having a large surface combatant wouldn’t be a bad idea. If her bones are good, she could make a very interesting modernized cruiser. Rip out the old shipwreck launchers and install even more tubes or VLS for Neptunes.

Outside of that, they should probably turn to Germany and buy some of the Corvettes the Israelis use then give them their own Ukrainian spin, and some diesel electric subs. Could only imagine how much damage they would’ve done if they had a few submarines in service at start of the invasion. They will probably have an entire naval arm dedicated to just drone boat warfare.

Postwar, I can easily see them being a major developer and exporter of naval drones, considering they have more experience than everyone else on earth combined.

        >considering they have more experience than everyone else on earth combined.
Yeah, and their experience seems to say "don't bother"
Seriously, naval suicide drones have maybe 1.5 ship kills to their name at best, throughout this entire conflict. You're better off just sending a Storm Shadow

It'll just be the NATO navy by that point.

Ukraine is getting two MILGEM from Turkey already

How is Turkey going to deliver them? As soon as delivery is taken, they are going to be targeted.

If Turkey actually hand them over.

Why bother? The black sea is a horrible place to try and keep a navy safe in the age of long-range missiles and drones. Russia's main goal at this point is probably just avoiding more of the damn things getting sunk.

Russia should be completely cut off from the Black Sea.

Base it off the coast of Europe then, in overseas ports.

This, if you have an airforce you don't need a navy for such a small sea.
I take all the money that would go to the navy and give it to the airforce.

    >Diesel Electric Attack Submarines with possibility to launch cruise missiles or USV drones
    >a fleet of frigates to protect the coast from incursions by sea peoples
    >a few auxillary support ships, tugboats and minesweeper boats, also some naval helicopters like the CH-148 Cyclone
Anything else and it's a waste of money. Ukraine needs to be a defensive navy, not LARP as a blue water navy like Russia does.

      Submarines, first and foremost.

      >Zelensky class amphibious assault ship
      >Zaluzhnyi class diesel attack submarine
      >Kyiv class landing platform dock
      >Crimea class frigates
      >Azov class corvettes
      >Bakhmut class minesweeper

      >submarines
It's pretty shallow around ukraine. I'm guessing subs would be of limited use in the current war, but long term and if they retake crimea then sure.

Save money by begging Nato countries for their old vessels and missiles. Might as well keep with the status quo

Ukrainian Navy needs AWACS and satellite intel and comms.
Actual Ukrainian manned watercraft needs to be stealth littoral, able to launch equally stealth extended air-time drones to gather intel, and then able to launch much heavier suicide drones.

To protect their merchant navy they literally need the eyes and muscle provided by both USA and Europe.

They basically need the modern equivalent of coastal battleships. Heavily armed large ships that are short ranged and built for shallow waters.

      A Littoral Combat Ship, perhaps?

I would invest in autonomous submarines that can at least cover all of the Black Sea. Surface Autonomous Boats would be a good combo. Overwhelm the enemy with good intelligence and cheap massed attacks.

Ukraine doesn't need a navy, it just needs amphibious APCs. I propose a new variant of the M113 that I will take the liberty of calling an "AquaGavin" - capable of withstanding pressures of up to 1.1 kbar and transporting a whole squad of infantry as well as firing off AGM-158C LRASM anti-ship missiles, the very notion of an IFV will be made obsolete.

One functioning aircraft carrier solely to add on to the past two years of Russian humiliation.
And then a bunch of ships that actually make sense for them to have, whatever those would be (I don't know anything about navies).

Just long range missiles and undersea drones.

Literally no point in them having a navy.

minesweepers and corvettes (mix between air defense and submarine hunters) to keep the sea lines of communication open and diesel-electric submarines and minelayers to deny the sea to Russia.
Aviation (recon, sub hunting) can be handled from the shore.

Just a bunch of ASM batteries placed around their coast along with mobile launchers, make it a complete deterrence to any hostile actor.

All nuclear subs. With some patrol boats
