You are assigned to defend the Baltics from modern Russia

You need to hold out for one month until nato can wipe them off the face of the earth. You have at your disposal 62,000 relatively well-trained troops, some 20,000 militia with some training, around 800 artillery pieces, decent distributed AA, and small but relatively competent and modernized mechanized, tank forces, and planes. You have about three weeks advance notice to prepare while the Russians build up their supply depots.

You will be facing an army about the same size that has invaded Ukraine, but comprised of a large amount of conscripts and second tier troops with mostly Soviet-era equipment, aircraft, and armor.

Why? If we knew that in a month they'd get wiped out we'd just run and evacuate to Germany, to the Western side of the Oder.

You need to hold as a speedbump to give the rest of nato time to mobilize and prepare

Russia can't take beat one shithole country in 4 months, but they're going to steamroll 3 nato members in 1 month with the US having total air supremacy? interesting take

The Baltic countries were brought into NATO just for the sake of spiting the Russians. Militarily they are absolutely irrelevant.

Black person the entire russian invasion force would be turned into scrap metal within days. Russia can't handle 4 HIMARS systems but they can handle literally thousands of strike aircraft, bombers and cruise missiles? NATO ground forces would roll in and mop up any survivors

Just one month? Cakewalk. If the entire Baltics gang up, 80k troops is enough. Equipment is much lower in terms of numbers but modern C4 run by competent leadership. If we decided to destroy Russian AD it would take a lot of very dedicated and courageous pilots but I’m certain we could do it. How many air-to-air munitions do we have?

I don’t see any serious risk to holding them off for a month, it’s more if a question on how many losses we take and how thoroughly do we want to suppress the invasion and protect population centers.

Literally defend along the borders in case of Latvia and Estonia (except for Daugavpils, those homosexuals have to see what being liberated feels like), in Lithuania focus on population centres since the border is very much undefendable.
The Baltic forces are built around ambushes and guerilla warfare, while NATO tripwires would help in conventional defense. All in all not a hard task against second rate Russian troops.

I'd start off on the right foot by calling Russia's bluff and order tactical nuclear strikes on all massed infantry and armor sites along with any military bases within 200 miles of Russia. After we have them on the back foot we'd slam their population centers with airstrikes so brutal and savage, it'd make Iraq in 2003 look like a backyard BBQ on the 4th of July. We'd counter ICBM launches with our holographic multiphase "tic tac" projections and then finish them off with the HAARP array by having it produce tornados in Red Square.
Roll in with our alien hybrid super soldiers, summarily execute anyone that looks at us the wrong way, proclaim the Age of Rectification and welcome our transdimensional allies from the 7th Plane.

Okay yes technically they have two 1960's czech jets which are listed as training aircraft but I suppose you could stick weapons on them.

        >Literally no fighter jets in any of the countries.
There are currently American F-35s in Estonia as part of the Baltic Air Policing mission.

Yea but the scenario was to hold off for a month without NATO

Anyway if I was to command this scenario, with three weeks I would order full mobilization which shouldnt be a problem since as I understand all baltics have mandatory military service for men. Then buy beg and steal as much weapons from abroad as I could in three weeks. And put the whole army to lay mines and dig fortifications along the border including with belarus since like with ukraine they might attack from there as well. And maybe pre emptive strike to capture kaliningrad before the russian main force has assembled.

          >Yea but the scenario was to hold off for a month without NATO
Base scenario is too fricking easy though.
          >Rebuild Mannerheim line
          >Stockpile artillery shells outside the range of whatever excuse russia has for left for "cruise missiles"
          >build professional UAV corps for battlefield intel with a side in blowing up vatniks while they shit
          >Make sure your machine gunners are well-fed with both food, ammo and caffeine
          >prep tank and mot for a flanking breakthrough when they enter karelia
Attacking the north-easten border of finland would be a fricking pointless strategic disaster for the russians, so of course such a possibilty can never be discounted when your enemy is literally moronic, so just let the fins do what comes naturally and carve the place into one giant motti. Swedes can put gripens on call for airstrikes as russia wouldn't be able to maintain local air superiority, so any northern offensive on their part would be ground to a halt whenever the nords decide, before being ground to meat.

In the middle of May, there were these bad bois stationed in Latvia, so I look forward to the DLC of 50 mile convoy.
If in Ukraine Russians could use fields and river beds for solving their transportation issues, then in Baltics, it's a ton of swamps combined with hilly terrain in the border regions, covered in forests, so they must use roads if they want to get somewhere, and there are only a couple of roads here and they should be pretty easy to defend.

Boobytrap borders and roads up until 10 km from border with AT mines and IED's if there are not enough ATmines.
Have guerilla defense teams (AA & AT) operate in border area and counterstrike teams ready to roll into USSR to target logistics and airfields.
But outside this scenario what will happen is that the US subs already in the baltic will unload their cruise missiles on the invasion force because art5. Then we need to shorten the Finnish border by moving it to roughly the E20/E105 and build a fence there to keep out the orcs in the future.
