Let's talk about it.
Despite being rather blasphemous I still hold this movie somewhat dear, mainly because it's one of the few superhero movies that actually make use of their inherited capacity for visual eccentricity.
The openining scene in Egypt, the scene with Magneto in the forest, the rocket launch, the Quicksilver scene, as well as the Phoenix scene at the end are all very memorable and way above almost all other capeshit.
That and also the cast including James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender, who as always are delightful to watch.
It's a brutally underrated movie and you should reconsider your stance toward it.
I always liked this movie, but then again X-Men is the only capeshit franchise I watch. I would imagine most of the hate is simply because "it's not MCU"
i like x-men
I really like the climax, and I think it stands above a lot of other superhero movies. Instead of a drawn out battle with an army of interchangeable CGI NPCs, each character is given a unique job to do against one team of specific distinct villains.
Also, the Beethoven scene where Apocalypse takes over Earth's nukes is awesome.
The 90s cartoon did it better and with a fraction of the budget for Bryan’s cumcatcher rider.
Sure, and the DCAU was miles above the DCEU, but that doesn't mean there's not still something to like.
It really didn’t do much interesting with the concept and Apocalypse took a backseat in an odd way to Magneto’s subplot. Just a strange presentation all around given what there is to work with (which is certainly the bulk of the X-Men films in a nutshell), but they made the hodgepodge somehow function fine in the previous installments. I’m not sure where it went wrong, but my money is generally on executive overreach like usual.
Fair points, but I thought the Sweet Dreams sequence was cool and Apocalypse's line about the Tower of Babel was badass.
>James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender
Do these two not act anymore? I miss them.
Here's your Apocalypse, bro.
Apoclaypse looked too overpowered for half the movie. And in the end you didnt actually know his complete power level.
When did Ivan Ooze cross over with the X-Men?
>You can fire your arrows from the Tower of Babel, BUT YOU CAN NEVER STRIKE GOD!
I think it was ok. At least its far better than fricking Dark Phoenix
How bad is Dark Phoenix? I ignored it/forgot it was even a thing, like I think most people did
I like to accentuate the positive, so while there's a lot to dislike there, I'll focus on the good.
>Charles and Erik's chemistry, especially in final scene
>Hank/Beast has real pathos
>Dazzler has a fun cameo
>Action sequence on train is good
>Jessica Chastain is an effective villain
It's not a great treatment of the Dark Phoenix saga at all, but it has its moments
>It's not a great treatment of the Dark Phoenix saga at all
tbh you just can't really do a Dark Phoenix Saga in film. The whole point of it in the comic was that it was a slow, gradual buildup over the course of a few years. It's more suited to TV if anything, but then you run into the problem of budget
Fox tried to spread it out to two different movies on two different occasions, introducing Jean's Phoenix at the end of Last Stand and Apocalypse, and then having her go full dark in the next movie. But without the Shi'ar Empire and the Hellfire Club, it's not worth it.
Dogshit. It definitely doesn’t slap.
> The openining scene in Egypt, the scene with Magneto in the forest, the rocket launch, the Quicksilver scene, as well as the Phoenix scene at the end are all very memorable and way above almost all other capeshit.
I remember the Quicksilver scene and the forest scene. Quicksilver is a music video and the forest scene is the only part of the film with any impact.
It’s shite mate.
Nah, nah, it slaps bruv.
Fassbender really needs to get a better agent
Fassbender seems content being a race car driver now. If anyone from these movies needs a better agent, it's Nicholas Hoult.
I also enjoyed this movie as a flawed but fun movie. Also Apocalypse dismantling the entire world's nukes was kino.
Why couldn't they just go with the design closer to the original? What homosexual or female executive saw it and thought, "nah, we need to change that"?
I remember enjoying it, but like all superhero flicks, the first and 2nd acts outshine the 3rd act.
I already forgot this piece of shit, the cool scene was the slow mo, magnetos scenes And wolverine but it was underwhelming when he stabs them blood does not spill, i wish it had some gore
>I already forgot this movie
>btw here are my top 5 memorable moments from this movie
SIR
The only memorable parts of the movie i liked
I stopped watching the X-man movies after it because Dark Phoenix looked like a pile of cat sick, but this was definitely an above average capeshit film with a good cast and villian. Final battle was pretty great as well
the Quicksilver scenes are coold but it bothers me how extremely overpowered he is portrayed. He is extremely fast but not THAT much. The MCU portray albeit horrible is more faithful to the comics and cartoons
I thought the nuke scene was really good. Felt like the stakes were really raisedd
They should cast him as apocalypse
I still think this one was the best in the series
What is it with homosexuals and negative canthal tilt?
Where are the women?
It was fun, but Magneto and Quicksilver's relationship just goes nowhere despite being foreshadowed throughout. Just really odd they just had him flake out at the end so there's no actual payoff.
