So my grandfather is getting really old and I’m making a good amount of money so I decided to spend my money on dumb stuff but I think this will be good. I bought 7 of these and will place them strategically around his driveway and stairs so he never has to do stairs and so it can be 100% snow free. This is meant for outdoors and for gathering so I’m not too quite sure. Obviously it will be left on continuously especially during snow storms. Please share your opinion or political opinions.
how are you gonna power 7
each one of those draws like 1500w and needs its own breaker
>I'm going to pump 10kW into the open air
KYS yourself now.
10.5 KW
looks like potential way to set your grandfathers house on fire
Think of the heckin global warming.
Oh my Science! We can't allow that!
Solid plan anon, quartz heaters are often used around commercial buildings to melt snow.
Pay for his power bill too, this will eat a good amount of power
imagine bragging about how lazy and stupid you are
I imagine that all the time.
I think it will work, but it will be cheaper to pay a snow plow guy, and a lot less work.
wouldn't radiant heaters be kinda shit at heating snow since it's white and very reflective?
Never work, anon. In fact, you're more likely to turn the whole thing into an ice rink.
Just pay a service to go around and do it for him. It'll be more effective and cheaper than what you propose.
The money is better spent moving your grandpa out of the ghetto so he doesn’t have to worry about getting assaulted every time he steps out the front door.
The ski resort near my town has an outdoor concrete staircase with heater fans built into the wall to do this exact thing. Works great but is overkill for your grandpa, I'd just put a bunch of ice melting stair mats for the stairs. and walkway
If you need to do the whole driveway, there are better ways of doing this, like putting heating elements under the driveway pavers/ashpahlt which are built for that purpose.
>ce melting stair mats
THIS.
My town office has those and I didn't even know they existed until about a week ago.
Shovel and gravel/salt is cheaper and easier.
Much of my family lives in a cold area and if it gets bad enough, heaters will not be enough and may even make things worse with the potential ice it generates. Buy him some attachable silicon shoe spikes.
Cheaper and more effecrive to dump heat into the concrete with hydronic or even electric vs radiant heat. This idea kf yours is foolish af.
