Because none of their planes CAN land on an aircraft carrier.

      >Because none of their planes CAN land on an aircraft carrier.

The Air Force is authorized to fly any aircraft in the military, not just theirs. So I don't understand why they're allowed to fly carrier-based aircraft if they can't land on aircraft carriers with them

        When has this ever happened?

Air force pilots don't fly navy planes.

Not normally but there are exchange tours. A lot of USAF guys flew, front and back seats, in Phantoms off carriers in Vietnam. I can only imagine what the process to get an AF guy rapidly carqualed is like.

USAF is no the RAF that purposely denied the RN good aircraft because they had control over all aviation.

OP, only the Navy and Marine Corps have carrier capable aircraft. The Air Force focuses primarily on Air Space over land whereas focuses on air space over the seas, near coasts, and then over land if the mission requires.

The carrier can put out the emergency net.

No actually they are not. Jesus Christ, you are a special kind of stupid. Navy aircraft are property of the Navy, the Air Force has no authority when it comes to the property of another branches property. Are you a child or just a moron?

the F-16 with its shitty brakes can and an F-15 pilot after flying over a carrier said "I probably could do it"
problem is, it's very dangerous as opposed to navy aircraft with a big and chunky landing gear and wings optimized for low speed like the hornet and C amy but not entirely impossible.

American is rich enough to just throw the planes (and pilots) away after each flight instead of landing and performing maintenance on it like some sort of poor, no need to teach you how to land

This. I've had at least 3 ospreys and 2 harriers crash into my backyard over the years. Haven't even bothered to scrap them because I'm not poor, I just use them and the dead Marines as lawn ornaments.

Their planes aren't built for it so it wouldn't go so well. I'm sure some of their pilots could handle it though.

      >Easy does it, easy...
      >LAND, YOU FAT b***h
Oh. So that's why the landing gear is so much beefier, I thought it was a cable recovery thing.

Air Force jets CAN land on a carrier. Air Force bases even have a “barrier” (read cable) for emergencies. Air Force jets do have tail hooks. However they’re not beefed up at the mounting point or the landing gear like Navy planes so they are a lot more likely to break. Those kinds of breaks also take forever to fix. So it’s about turnaround time. That and the Navy has their own planes

Because there aren't enough chairs on the carriers for them.
