This, the USMC didnt want a SoF team, but were basically forced to create one, after recon was sidelined during the iraq invasion as punishment.

Really the whole thing was just some GWOT added layer of bureaucracy to integrate the USMC into the SOCOM command structure. Not worth it in my opinion. All the Marines really need are stuff like the Force Recon guys who should be dealing with stuff relevant to ongoing Marine operations instead of stuff the others are doing.
Coasties do have actual stuff to do even in peacetime because their mussion encompasses helping out civilian bullshit and are a policing force as little as im aware, thry used to have a show about it centered around florida and alaska

Name the last time you heard something about Recon or Raider ops off the top of your head. Now do the same with Green Berets or SEALs. See? It's a mystery.
