because it was cheap and more fun than .22 and now it isnt

Does it though? Most people know 7.62x39 ball is meh, and load their guns with Hornady SSTs or comparable when not at the range.

I really don’t know. I just enjo shooting it and also believe it’s the best woodland and urban combat round in existence. Yes it has subpar ballistics and YES it will rip through thick southeastern US brush and hit your ass

I haven't seen anyone seethe about it, just point out that it sucks in comparison to .223/5.56

Because this site is now predominantly trannies who suck off 5.56 and ARs.

It doesn’t. I like shooting it a lot. It shoots good out of my VSKA (gonna get roasted for that one) and that’s all I can ask for.

As long as you’ve ragged yours out and it held up you’re fine

It's a fat, cheap intermediate round that's maintained price near or below 5.56 until very, very recently. Without it being as cheap as it was, I don't see it being as popular.

If price is what you base your purchase around and is the only factor when buying a gun why not just go for 22LR or 12 gauge??

          Anonymous

Who said that? They're all cartridges over 50 grains that can reach over 200 yards reliably. How are 22LR or 12 gauge comparable?

            Anonymous

You implied it by talking about price per round. Price does not matter and should not be a factor if your life depends on it

              Anonymous

              >implying implications
Regardless: given the same budget, training on the same cartridge as the one you will actually use is infinitely more useful than one you either can't afford to shoot regularly, or need to shoot less of.

I disagree. If your life depends on it you should be going for the best of the best

If you can't put rounds on target come crunch time, it doesn't matter in your imaginary statistical outlier scenario.

Get a job if you can’t afford to shoot. If you decide to use shit like 7.62x39 surplus and die after shooting the guy multiple times that’s on you

I will continue to use whatever clicks and goes bang and the use the money I save to train more with while you will miss and die because you couldn't decide to save for retirement or buy Hornady for 3 range days a year.

If you’re so poor that you can’t afford to shoot quality ammunition then guns are the least of your worries in life

The best thing you can do to avoid needing to use a gun in the first place is to not be poor and to move to a middle class white neighborhood with well maintained lawns

                Anonymous

                >having neighbors
Who said anyone was poor here? Most of us here can probably afford gucci cartridges - that just doesn't lend itself well to using them enough to become familiar with them. By your logic, we should all outfit ourselves with 0.50 BMG SBRs, pay to use 3 second between shot ranges, and carpetbag suburban lot-to-lot mcmansion hellholes because they were safe when you moved there.

50BMG is a poor round for self defence

                >lol just don't shoot your HD/ carry gun at the range because you only buy ammo at > $1/rd

That’s not a problem if you aren’t poor. Have you tried getting a proper job that doesn’t pay minimum wage?

                >50BMG is a poor round for self (defence)

It will ice pick and deliver none of its energy. The best rifle round for self defence is well engineered 223 HP

I don't know why it makes /k/ seethe, but I really liked how cheap it was to feed my AKMs. With prices as they are I'll probably just sit on most of my 7.62x39 and shoot rifles with LOPs that aren't made for conscripts wearing 2" of jackets and parkas.

This, I think anons on /k/ over-estimate a crackhead’s commitment to robbing you if they get shot. It’s not really necessary to blow their limbs off or remove a pound of meat from them with each shot.
