.22lr is deadly. however the difference is, I die 14 hours later in the hospital after killing you with one 556 mk262

.22 and 5.56 have same diameter bullet

5.56 might do more damage thru energy dump and bullet yaw or fragmentation BUT a direct bullet path hit on a vital spot will drop/kill you just the same

        Anonymous

what exactly is the point of mentioning the fact that they have the same diameter if the rounds themselves are completely different with completely different ballistics?

this is as moronic as bringing up the fact that .30-30 and .300 blackout have the same diameter even though they have next to nothing else in common.

do some research on velocity and disproportionate to caliber wounding

        Anonymous

A pencil has the same diameter too, and id it's pushed through a body through a vital organ, that, too, would drop someone. Loead your guns with pencils.

5.56 has way higher velocity and energy. Ribs don't stand a chance. Also, the energy cause damage not only in the exact, 5.56mm path that it crushed through the body, which is the best a .22 can hope for.

Yes .22 is deadly, but it sinply is not as bad to be hit by a .22 as it is by a 5.56.

What would you prefer to be hit by? Don't even pretend you don't immediately know the amswer.

The reason is because you people have poor long term memories. Like an old person saying the time went by quick. I'm 41 and remember all the boring times waiting for bell up ring on school. It was horrible. Life has gone by so slow. And kids looked like kids to me when I was a kid and now.

        Anonymous

        >femboy.
That word didn't exist back when the film was made and the fact that you used it unironically shows that your mind was rotted by the societal changes since

Pretty sure it did, though "twink" was the far more preferred term, even though that's not the same thing.

The same reason people act like kitchen knives aren’t dangerous but a wall hanger sword is.
Or how a “race car“ is more dangerous than a extended cab truck.

it’s always the “rational” people who think this way.

Because they're moronic and been subjected to too much:
    >.22lr is for kids, I need a larger caliber because I'm a big boy
    >if you shoot someone with X they won't go down and will be upset when they find out it was you who did it
    >real life comparisons based off video games where .22lr is typically never present
Or any of the other shit you see online.

I think most people understand and accept that .22 is in fact deadly. The problem many of us run into is morons acting like it's a great choice for HD/SD against anything more than whistle pigs and chihuahuas. Friend of mine is dead set in his belief that his 10/22 is a better HD gun than my 9mm pistol, 12 gauge shotgun, ARs, and AKs. Yes .22 can kill a motherfricker, but you really should be using with a bit more spice behind it.

If you're too much of a pussy to handle the recoil of a 9mm or an AR-15 then you might as well accept your fate and carry around a bottle of lube and some condoms instead.

I'm not convinced that you actually accept that .22lr is deadly.

.22lr is deadly but it's objectively less deadly than something like 9x19mm or 5.56x45mm. More energy dumped into your target ends up with more damage. More damage is more likely to incapacitate if not outright kill with fewer rounds. Fewer rounds is good because the more you shoot them the more likely you are to have a dirtbag lawyer try to frick you in the courtroom. "Why did you shoot him so many times!?" "Why did you use such a weak round when you KNOW it's weak and more likely to cause a slow painful death!?"

It is, but it's still relatively anemic in comparison to a more suitable caliber when it comes to defensive use. .22lr is more suitable for recreational shooting or pest control than dealing with people.

In a civilized society this would all be one concurrent action.

Related but what gun is Ataru using? I would have thought airsoft at first given the context (Japan, 80's, kid firing in his room), but it clearly ejects a casing and fires a bullet. So my guess is that it's a .22 short round? Why is he firing this in his room?

There's a difference between "adequate" and "optimal", and /k/ (and PrepHole in general) acts like anything less than optimal is trash. My unpopular opinion that adequate is plenty good enough, and that something like a 10/22 is a reasonable choice for home defense.

    >so excited! Gonna go stalking through the bush with night vision scopes n shit.

    >from the Ute we just pop them all

    >rinse and repeat
    >afterward mate and his other mate are booth whooping and hollering
    >they had a great time
    >politely decline offer to return
    >he moves north and I lose contact with him.

To this day I get into arguments with people who say .22 just bounces off skulls and is only good for rabbits and birds.
