You'd think people who work in construction would understand that, over time, things wear down and break. That includes your body. The other day I was kneeling on a knee pad and a co-worker came up to me and said I was a homosexual for using one. He said sometimes his knees hurt when he kneels but he "sucks it up and doesn't whine like a b***h". People are truly fascinating.
It's not difficult to understand, we don't want to feel like we've been "missing out" or that we've been "wrong all this time". Why do you think autists online refuse to ever change their opinions on anything
>boomer boss berates me for using PPE >start ignoring his b***hing entirely >cutting some concrete one day in a full face shield and ear muffs >hear something that vaguely sounds like my boss yelling something >>WHAT? >before I even have a chance to turn off the saw he rips off my muffs from behind and shoves a fricking megaphone in my ear >TAKETHATSHITOFFYOULOOKLIKEAgay
And that is the story of how I lost 50% of my hearing in my left ear but got $20,000.
If true your a gay for not whooping his ass, money can be replaced, he probably paid that off within the month, but a goods beat down can last forever, take an eye out or something.
I do not have hearing aids. mostly because they are between $5000 to $8000 dollars for the quality, high tech variety I would want... but, also because I still feel "too young" to be wearing them, just yet.
mostly it's the expense part, though. I have decent medical insurance, but it will not cover anything for hearing aids.
>it was an ADV bike with stock a muffler
what kind? africa twin?
i never had any problems with noise levels during rides. but this could be due to newer helmets, closed visor or that i didn't ride long enough yet
>it was an ADV bike with stock a muffler
what kind? africa twin?
i never had any problems with noise levels during rides. but this could be due to newer helmets, closed visor or that i didn't ride long enough yet
It's not the engine or a loud exhaust, its the wind noise caused by the air going around the helmet that causes hearing damage. Doing 60 the noise in the helmet can be 90 to 100db.
I work as janitor irl, from srping to autumn I'm mostly in the green with a whippersnipper. Wearing headphones with hearing protection, listening to 2 hour long dj sets, news etc. The future can be really cool sometimes
Accept the fact that your health is/will be in literal ruins because you didn't use proper PPE because "that's what pussies do". Actual fricking moron.
>yea my back, legs, knees, neck, and shoulders are all in constant agony after years of destroying them at work >sure my eyesight is gone in one eye because of those aluminum chips that were flying all over all the time >yea i mean, my hearing is terrible and i'll never know true silence again in my life even in the middle of the wilderness because of my constant severe screaming tinnitus in both ears >yes that's right i can't sit down without shitting myself because i lifted too many excessively heavy things improperly without assistance >but goddamnit kids, you don't understand what's important in life >see, i looked COOL while i was being Mr. Shekelberg's muscle slave, and that matters the most!!!
I'm only 40 and I have some tinnitus and probably some hearing loss from spending my teens mowing lawns without any hearing protection. Shit sucks. Wear your PPE.
they're the ones who take it off because "it's in the way". leadbrained dumbasses don't realize you can literally adjust it to any position if you just loosen the clamp.
I came here to post about tetanus relief. Cover your ears with your palms and lightly drum your fingers on the lower back of your head for 30 seconds, seems to cool down the Eeeeee for a while at least
you as a zoomer have in general poor situational awarness and short attention span, you basicly walk around in your own little bubble barely able to react to your surroundings. now add "hearing protection" (lol there is no protection in it you blast music on your airpods so loud you already have irreversible damage) that only enclose you even more inside your own bubble. you become a complete nightmare to be around.
its not just that we need to be able to communicate with you but its a serious health and safety issue, people could shout at you to move and you dont hear it and get smashed by falling shit and your hearing will be like that of metal drumners after 2 years.
its a reason many large construction companies here has a strict policy for no music and mandatory electronic noise cancelling on hearing protection, meaning you still hear normal speak.
t.boomer with full score on my hearing except a dip at certain frequency on my right ear from having a G3 magdumped 3cm from it during military
>don't wear hearing protection because our site is a fricking safety disaster
I guess boomers don't know much about personal accountability, it's the guys fault he wore hearing protection and got crushed right?
>poor situational awarness, short attention span, dont hear whats said
yeah, its a certain type of people that manage to stop dead in their tracks behind a reversing wheel loader completely unaware of whats going on and not able to hear neither the beep-beep-beep alarm or 5 guys shouting at him to move. lets just assign them all a deaf boomer to be their ears and eyes. hearing protection in itself isnt bad, but show me one dude below 25 who doesnt use it to blast music and enclose himself deeper into his own bubble or keep them on all day even when noise is low and people are talking >huh? >did you say something??
i swear one day i will shoot a kid who say these words.
>i swear one day i will shoot a kid who say these words.
boomer logic lmao >kids these days can't be forced to hear me bloviate at them about the wife and kids i hate, so i want to kill them
Putting ear plugs in and taking them out constantly is a pain in the ass especially if you work with shit that isn't super clean, oil/grease/dust on your shit is not fun and makes them not work as well
Christmas tree buds man, they are brilliant, you can adjust how deep/effective they are without taking them out, you don't touch the bit that goes in your ear, they fit under muffs for loud as frick situations and are washable.
This is accurate. Add a vape to the situation and good fricking god these kids are a menace to society.
Is this a bait/trolling thing, or are you actually blaming your unsafe workplace on people trying not to go deaf and end up those old homosexuals that scream at people and then accuse them of mumbling because a normal speaking tone is inaudible to geriatric ears? Ideally it should be like a fricking helicopter's earpro system where there's an integrated radio so discourse can be had through that.
zoomers get deaf as well, BL speakers have gotten loud as frick.
also music gets loudness compressed now, meaning the music is always loud, this worsens the hearing (temporarily) and people turn up the music even more,
at most party's music stars out in a acepticle loudness and over the evening it gets painfully loud.
Boomers gave up their health for work and they think you should do the same.
It's like circumcision-- they suffered so you must also suffer. Misery loves company, etc.
My boss used to say IT WAS A SAFETY HAZARD IS SOMEONE ON SITE COULDN'T HEAR EVERYONE ELSE because they'd get hit by things and the loss of hearing was a trivial SIDE EFFECT OF BEING A BUILDER, my boss used to be in the army and was TOTALLY DEAF IN ONE EAR SO you had to yell at him but if he was facing the other way HE WOULD BE ANGRY AND TELL YOU THAT HE WASN'T FRICKING DEAF.
Now i have tinnitus as a constant companion, like faust its a deal with the devil
I wish I had some loss of hearing honestly. I can hear really high pitched electric buzzing from appliances and other electric items and it pisses me the frick off. I'm shooting guns regularly but I guess my 3M electronic earpro is doing too good of a job.
WHAT? WHY IS CHEF ROUMEUR MAD?
I DON'T KNOW

I only wear knee pads because I don't like kneeling in water
>boomer boss berates me for using PPE
>start ignoring his b***hing entirely
>cutting some concrete one day in a full face shield and ear muffs

If it were real, i would say very nice
not worth
If true your a gay for not whooping his ass, money can be replaced, he probably paid that off within the month, but a goods beat down can last forever, take an eye out or something.
moron, he woulg gotten less (if any) money if he beat his ass on the spot.
What you do is sue him, get the money, THEN beat his ass.
That is a good point, though I'm outside of usa, so it would probably be frick all in workers comp instead.
And then they demand extra pay since the job wears them out.
I commend, and reccomend use of hearing protection to my workers.
my hearing loss (40%) was caused NOT by my construction carreer, and gun use.
mine was caused by motorcycling. over 500,000 miles ridden. I ALWAYS wore a helmet, but did not know I also needed to wear ear plugs.
it wasn't some obnoxious, straight-pipe Harley, either. it was an ADV bike with stock a muffler.
Do you wear hearing aids? My decibel thresholds are 60ish at speech frequency and I'm debating getting a pair but holy frick they are expensive
>expensive
I do not have hearing aids. mostly because they are between $5000 to $8000 dollars for the quality, high tech variety I would want... but, also because I still feel "too young" to be wearing them, just yet.

You can find used ones for much cheaper, if you don’t mind some dead guys
>it was an ADV bike with stock a muffler
what kind? africa twin?

hearing loss is just the half of it
the other half is tinnitus, that shit will actually make you think about suicide
>the other half is tinnitus, that shit will actually make you think about suicide
Reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
I work as janitor irl, from srping to autumn I'm mostly in the green with a whippersnipper. Wearing headphones with hearing protection, listening to 2 hour long dj sets, news etc. The future can be really cool sometimes

why do butthurt zoomers shitpost on diy?
homosexual boomer detected.

Are these the same ones who insist that the grinder is safer without the guard?
they're the ones who take it off because "it's in the way". leadbrained dumbasses don't realize you can literally adjust it to any position if you just loosen the clamp.

they have shots for that
You made it worse you c**t

Because its manly to irreparably damage your body for a paycheck
Because boomers are are a generation of lead poisoning morons and narcissists.
Youre confusing your talking points. The dates dont line up dumdum
Boomers gave up their health for work and they think you should do the same.
It's like circumcision-- they suffered so you must also suffer. Misery loves company, etc.
Deaf boomers are always the first to remind me to wear my ears

What boomers are still working in construction? They are all 60+ now
Sounds like baitthread
Ive been in construction for a long time and literally no one gaf if anyone wears ppe or not
>dont loose any hearing, infact its better than most
>but ringing keeps getting worse
I'm no boomer but this is not a boomer thing. It's the same psychology as vaccinated people who are mad at unvaccinated.
EEEEEEEeeeeeEEEeeeeeeeeEEEEEEeeeeeeeEEEEEEEeeeeeEEEeeeeeeeeEEEEEEeeeeeee
I wish I had some loss of hearing honestly. I can hear really high pitched electric buzzing from appliances and other electric items and it pisses me the frick off. I'm shooting guns regularly but I guess my 3M electronic earpro is doing too good of a job.
You vill not use ze hearing protection
you vill go deaf just like ze rest
and you vill shit on the new guys for using hearing protection
