Probably the molds are worn out and they’ve stopped making them in the chinese factory, yet they still have a warehouse full of them and need to offload the remainder to suckers.
It’s the same with virtually every thing made with plastic injection molds.
Since they don’t want to put up the $2.5M for new molds, they just stop making them. Ethical companies will let you know they’re discontinued and they go on sale because you’ll never be able to buy them again to add to your obsolete set.
Same thing with drill bodies. Every year they or so they change some of them up in a “re design” with new overmolding to like a nike shoe, but the truth is the original design was fine, it’s just that the molds wear out and they can make new “designs” to fool idiots who think there’s something better about it.
Not OP, but I appreciate the knowledge. Wasn't aware of the plastics production reason, that makes a bunch of things make a lot of sense. Across multiple industries.
Since this thread is gay I’ll use it to ask a consoomer question regarding Milwaukee. >already have m18 driver/drill set >only have the 3.0 m18 batteries >coworker has the 6.0 m18’s and they’re nicer
This weekend Home Depot has a sale where you buy a 2pack of the M18 6.0 batteries with charger and you get a free Milwaukee tool. >m18 Grinder >m18 Hackzall >m18 Multi Tool
Which should I get bros? The Grinder is the most expensive to buy separately and I can use it pretty regularly to cut threaded rod, uni strut, etc. The multi tool is the next most expensive item but I’m HVAC not a carpenter, I can’t think of a single application where I’d use it with any frequency. The Hackzall is probably the most applicable inside and outside of work but is only about $130 to buy separately. I have a $100 gift card so I could get 2 of these 6.0 M18 batteries, charger and M18 Grinder for $200 out of pocket
The sawzall and holehawg are the only things of note that the original Milwaukee company ever did before it became a chinese knockoff of itself.
That said, the hackzall might be something of the sawzall lineage that they don’t want to completely frick-up, so there’s a possibility it might be worth it.
Everything else is pretty much just the same old junk sold by everybody else.
Diablo Auto Dismantling are based. Self and bro can cut the nose and front frame free of a Suburban to harvest delicious LS with one blade and it's usually good for more.
a whole frickin thread huh?
They think you are a gay

Now this is a barely hidden form of advertisement if I have ever seen one.

you go milkfricker because they update tools fast, and they serve your trade niche. everyone else is really slow.
Can confirm the hackzall is good, but good blades are most important. We use it at work for aluminum and thin steel
