They are good and they are also expensive, so it makes people feel special having exotic tools. The people who post pictures of Japanese tools instead of using them are just consumer prostitutes not actual skilled craftsman. That's all YouTube is about though, stand out and get paid. Convince others to consume.
i have those vessel screwdrivers that i use every day and the lettering has long since worn off through extensive use and being soaked in oil since day 1.
clearly you never use your shit.
I hate how it feels too. But I spent $400k on a house and needed a fricking workbench rignt away and didn’t want to spend $80 on a sheet of plywood at Home Depot as I was spending $1000 on a water heater and related bullshit
They seem like Japanese Snap On. They’re overpriced because they’re sold to Jappo guys who hack apart perfectly good air cooled Porsches. And then add on the fact that there’s no real big retailer of Koken in the US so it’s even more expensive.
They’re premium, but there are other premium tools that are just as good and you could get for a more reasonable price. But you won’t get to post them on Youtube and achieve snowflake ganjin status.
There are a handful of Jappo tools on Amazon that are really nice and not probibitively expensive because there is actually a seller on US Amazon, you’re not getting middle manned a bunch and then waiting for them to ship from Japan.
>thinking the strength of a socket actually matters
strength is a fricking meme
you can't break a socket if you are using it properly and if you need ultimate strength, use an impact socket that is thicker.
what matters is how nice it is to use and how well it fits bolts.
I know many car OEMs use Koken for their automated or manual screwing tasks.
Idk how often they replace them, the guy in pic will maybe fasten 300 wheels a shift with the line running 3 shifts a day. on a high volume model you will have a robot fastening 1800 wheels a day. the socket in your DIY toolbox will never see as much nuts in its whole life.
but then this socket will only see virgin bolts and never a cheater bar or rust.
No idea. All I know is that their bearings are the best. It's because of the precisely manufactured balls. Nothing compares to Koken balls.
bearings? i though they just make sockets you arn't talking about the nut grips that uses 2 ball bearings.
He's right. Koken balls are the best.
I really enjoy Dan Druff's videos on koken balls

I fricking hate how OSB looks so much, it's unreal.

>Japanese Snap On
nepros is more like japanese snap on, and their stuff is better anyway imo
and its still cheaper than american snap on
koken is cheaper than snap on, i don't find it overpriced compared to tool truck brands.
That's looks nicer with a cutout, but it added more stress risers
All else equal, the left socket is stronger

Ok moron, tell us more about how you don't actually use tools
Only someone who doesn't use tools would wank off to bullshit strength ratings that they would never reach in the real world.
Can you point to the "bullshit strength ratings" you are talking about?
Did you forget what you said a couple posts ago? Fricking idiot
meanwhile, in the professional world
>buy tool for $XX dollars
>earn $XXX,XXX dollars before it breaks
the tolerances on those pivot joints are insane. amazing.
