At one stage his bio had him finishing as a Lieutenant, which would be O-2 after 9 years. Which would mean he failed every single board and had to be effectively thrown out under up or out? I don't know really how the US Army works.

I think you're required to receive promotions/new commands within a certain period of time or else you're automatically removed from service (the idea to prevent someone incompetent or unambitious from staying on for too long).

It's a fairly cost effective development process for this missile family anyway

The best part is that Shorts eventually went on to be part of the group that made NLAW. Ukraine has been such a playground for bong weaponry, one can almost forgive the Russians their Anglo complex

              Anonymous

It's the follow on from the blowpipe missile program, the precursor missile to starstreak/Martlet, the general design is the same just larger but less effective missiles than the newer martlet.
It wasn't too effective, but it did better than blowpipe so it was fieldable in small numbers, and did well enough that they kept trying to make it better and upgraded it to the current smaller design systems.

        Anonymous

I feel the next stage of monetising warfare would be to re-issue Blowpipes, but instead of having a human try and guide the missile, you use a robot operated by Twitch Chat instead.

It would be just as effective as it was the first time around, but you can make some decent dosh out of it at the same time. Maybe we could get a Vtuber to narrate the shots as well for extra simp points?

Pretty funny, the US was debating on quietly removing them with divers. The UK just rolls in no fricks given and blows them up. With this kind of attitude in mind, the UK for sure blew up the pipeline.

Bongoloides are not very smart. They just go in there like soccer hooligans doing target practice.
The US Navy probably wanted to capture those and see what level tech the Ruskies had.

Napoleon burned Moscow but was still forced to flee Russia with his tail between his legs.

As for the US, the Russians generally conflate them with the UK anyways due to Anglo pride and the more schizo ones believe the UK still secretly controls the US.

USA is considered a son of Britain so to speak, being anglo, an ex-colony, and sharing interests; also the US has been openly defeated by Soviet proxies so they have that to comfort themselves with

France of course was trounced hard in WW2 and then in Vietnam and then in Algeria, so once again the Soviets have that

for centuries Russians have looked at the British Empire and thought
      >I coulda been a contender!!1!
then the British defeated the Russians at Crimea
then the British humiliated the Russians on their way to Tsushima
then the British helped the White Russians fight the Soviets
then the British suppressed international Communism, which made them Enemy Number One to the nascent Soviet state
then Hitler claimed that the British were wilfully unbalancing the Continental powers at every turn, which Stalin believed and retransmitted to his followers
then the British allied with the USA against the Soviets throughout the long Cold War
and hasn't stopped countering nu-Russian expansionism in the 21st century

add that all up, and the bonus multiplier: Russia has never defeated the British, and London has never fallen to an external enemy ever since William the Conqueror, nearly a millennium ago

that's A LOT of seethe to work through

Despite everything the Nazis did, Russia actually don't hate them much, in their eyes the only bad thing they did was attacking Russia
In comparison the Anglos for them are responsible for every bad thing that has ever happened to Russia, it's their israelites
I mean just look how under Putin their version of events is that Poles and Anglos basically twisted Nazi Germany's arm into invading. Actual wehraboo talking points

Copetard crying about the British misses the whole point of reality.
This should be a lesson to morons everywhere: a small body of water is indefensible from nearby land based missiles, sea and air drones. Even in WW2 the Black Sea would be very very difficult to defend with ships due to aircraft.
If the USA gave Ukraine a few C130 with rapid dragon, then the Black Sea fleet would be destroyed in a few days at most.
