Why are Muzzle Brakes shunned upon now?

Yes on anything less than a 14" they're literally flashbangs but anything longer and it's better than an A2 even at flash mitigating.

    >universally acknowledged that people who show up with muzzle brakes to "piss off the fudds" are giant assholes, even the assholes won't disagree
    >amazed to find out that others won't encourage that behavior

they are inconsiderate to people around you. whether its in combat or the range. micro-comps on pistols are definitely all the rage right now.

    >hanging anything off the end of a rifle that isn't a suppressor

why would you even? outside of competition there's no advantage that isn't "muh recoil" as if it's some kind of video game.

      >why would you even?
Lightweight hunting rifle for mountain areas are often in magnum flat-shooting calibers because of the shot distances involved, and they're made very light because carrying extra weight sucks when you're in that kind of terrain. A brake makes sense there.

Those are the kinds of rifles used by rich assholes on guided hunts who need that much firepower because they can't shoot and that end up on the used rack a month later.

Why do you want quicker follow-up shots if it's a bolt action anyways

Because they do very little but are the first thing noobs put on their guns thinking that they're "upgrading" it. Nobody here has ever shunned muzzle brakes, only most of the people putting them on their guns.
Very few people have guns that will actually benefit from a brake but anyone who knows enough about their guns will know when and when not to put one on.
Or you could just admit that you put it on because it looks cool. We'll still give you shit but you know it won't matter. Just like your brake.

Ooooooooof, I'll shoot my CETME with my CMMG SV brake as much as I want, making .308 feel like 7.62x39 is worth your discomfort.

I see a lot more brakes/comps in some states like MD because "flash hiders" are one of the features controlled in law. Though you can legally have one of these "evil features", and most people aren't running folding stocks or grenade/flare launchers on their ARs so there's not much point.
But other platforms might be easier to trade pissing off boomers at the range with a brake or getting rid of their folding stocks. I've never heard of anyone ever getting in trouble over any of this anyway so it's largely a moot point

Pistol grips and telescoping stocks also count as evil features. And a threaded barrel itself is an evil feature. So a standard AR setup in a cuck state would be a staked or fixed stock and a welded on muzzle brake, which allows the pistol grip to be used legally.

Um emvidence? Pretty sure TTAG's flash hider tests used a 16" barrel and that's not what they found.

The only real exceptions are flashcomp hybrid devices that lean notably more towards the flash hider side of the equation, like the White Sound Defense FOSSA and Surefire Warcomp which are basically just straight upgrades to the A2 (slightly greater length and concussion aside)
