You may be young and unaccustomed with disease and getting sick, but holy shit are parking lot earplugs not worth the risk.

Niceeee. I get the same feeling when I find a used utility blade slightly less dull than the one I have in my box cutter at the time.

        Nice score OP
Im always finding gum or half smoked ciggies

I leave em just for you. The cold sores don’t pop up that often so you’re peobably still fine.

Found a roadside stocking cap the other day. Carhartt that looked brand new. Had "DAD" written on the tag in magic marker. I did run it through the clothes washer... So I shouldn't get lice.

Update. Been wearing my new Carhartt stocking cap in the last cold spell we had. Nice N comfy.

Also found a Werner 2 step ladder on the road last week. There was an old man up the road that had lost some bags of aluminum cans so I grabbed the ladder and took it back to him thinking he had probably lost the ladder too. Nope, he claimed it wasn't his. So I kept it for me.

    Let me see...

Found a handtruck on the side of the road.
    Multiple wrenches and pliers.
Tire and wheel combos (that still held normal pressure)
Food bank boxes with canned goods

That's the best stuff I have found.

I found a gun holster in the parking lot of wal-mart that actually fit a gun I had. Not long after that I found a ramp gate to a utility trailer by the road, made a drag out of it for my garden

nice. people leave valuable shit on the side of the road. need to be paying attention to what you are looking at. I'm eagerly awaiting finding a gas cylinder or propane tank.

Trying to think of other cool stuff I've found.

It wasn't exactly 'lost' but I got several 1 to 2' pieces of railroad track down the road from my house that just got left there.

They built an extension onto the plant where I used to work and left all kinds of goodies. A pair of Husky lineman pliers that I still use regularly. A 9 1/2 ton Crosby shackle, with pin. Several pieces of chain and cable. And from the plant itself I regularly swiped gloves, safety glasses. They had 55gal drums of machine oil with pumps in them so I would sneak around and fill a coke bottle here and there with oil

I guess those last few aren't really finding stuff.

I scrapped it because of voids and uneven patterning. Made right, it's still not going to take a beating without cracking but it's just meant to be a non-marring mallet

I found like 25 Tapcons the other day in back of a Publix. Snagged dem b***hes. They looked like they were sitting there a few days, but never used and torn up or bent. Gotta love it.

I’ve found like 4 edger blades with plenty of life left in them as well. I don’t think I’ll ever need to buy an edger blade.

I lost my headphones in the parking lot of a hardware store recently, must have fallen out of my pocket as I was fumbling for my keys. RIP in pepperoni Bosebros, you may gave had only one working earbud near the end but we had some good times together.
Best thing I scored was an old timey weighting scale that was dumped in a ditch. Completely useless but it was a shame to just leave it there

DCB115. You can find them for less than $20 on ebay. Always use the genuine chargers, but I use generic Waitley batteries. They are not XR... not by a bit. For general use though they are fine.

What was worth it, was to spend $20 in crypto to get a pass. I love you guys.

When I back back to America when I lived abroad, I had gotten rid of a lot of really nice furniture and electronics thinking I'd never come back.
However, I lived in North Hollywood. At the time there was still an old school hippie art vibe to it and the rootless cosmopolitans were about 50/50.
Over time as rents went up, the old school hippies left and would leave all sorts of nice shit on the side of the road.

My personal favorite find was a 54" LCD TV made by Samsung. I took it home and discovered that the back light LEDs were bad. I bought replacements, disassembled the TV, and got them in.
Turns out the previous owner never signed out of the smart apps. I've been enjoying Arthur and Lillian's Netflix, prime, and HBO Max for about 7 years now and they don't seem to notice or care about all of the shows I add to their list.
Also found a 300$ brother laser printer with a duplexer.
    Like seriously people.

while cycling home up a steep hill I found a couple of adjustable wrenches
recently I almost ran over a trowel with my bike but didn't bother picking it up
found a 19V laptop brick (with the end cut off but sitting nearby) in a parking lot, I use it often

I found a pair of Husky lineman pliers in the parking lot of my job when some guys were working on the security system.

I also found a locked up Husky ratchet in a thrift store for .50 that I traded in for a brand new one

I’ve got two parking lot channies. The red one is a USA made Crescent, but it’s that dogshit cheap style where it’s like stamped steel plates all riveted together, not really forged. I have some old Craftsman USA vise grips built the same way and they work but the teeth are soft and dull.

I guess someone caught on to the broken tools trick because I haven't really found any lately

          Bepis

Not sure if Home Depot would replace the blue channies. Maybe they would, but technically they’re not broken. Although I did get a free replacement on a set of Klein wire strippers because they were worn out and the jaws misaligned after years of use. But I wore those out and they weren’t parking lot pliers, so I’m not going to go that low.

Also I have no real desire to swap them becsuse the Knipex-type are so much nicer to use. I would grab the cheap Irwins before using those old Channies unless I wanted the flat jaw to bend some shit.

Too many pliers in the pliers drawer, but at the same time never enough.

Also to anybody who hasn’t used the Knipex style “water pump pliers” over typical flat jaw channellocks, it’s a game changer.
