They were lowest class serfs, debtors and people especially down on their luck used as a human cattle. Often in unimaginably terrible conditions. During summer, when they often collapsed from exhaustion/dehydration, their bodies were often just left there (what does this remind you).
There is a reason why there are songs and paintings and other works of art about their suffering. In plenty of slav languages you have some kind of saying that around the lines of "suffering/toiling like a burlak."

Being a burlak was also seasonal because you can't tow barges when rivers are frozen.
It was an occupation of the desperate and miserable. It's genuinely bizarre that russians try to defend it.

You do realize the bans have to do with air pollution? Fireplaces are OK in your comfy remote cabin in the woods and not OK if your next door neighbor is burning old tires and condoms in his fireplace because he is too moronic to get the fire started otherwise

                Anonymous

No one ITT is old enough to remember visible air pollution in the US and if they can't see it then it's not real. The baseline for pollution perception in the US (Burger here) is if it doesn't dissolve you like a Komet test pilot then it's harmless. I approve since it's convenient for me but it's still hilarious.

Wood heating only, but it's small, well insulated house, so when the days are +5 -5c one basket like that is enough. Two if it gets bellow that.

            Anonymous

Based on US building codes, which are just... terrible. Insulation is extremely cost-efficient in every climate for comfort and quality of home; the only reason to cheap out on it is because you are building a thousand homes at once and selling them off the plan so the actual build quality doesn't matter unless it's literally unlawful.

Wood is almost never measured by weight due to variations in water content and the species of wood. Especially when you have several species of wood represented. It's measured by volume, which isn't perfectly accurate or standardized across the variables, but it's a lot closer to standardized than weight. In the U.S. we use the archaic "cord of wood," the equivalent of 4 feet by 4 feet by 8 feet (128 cubic feet). It is always assumed that the wood is stacked reasonably tight, such as

          https://i.imgur.com/78n0HIY.jpg

. Someone who tries to stack the wood loosely goes out of business pretty rapidly, since (most) people who buy firewood today are well-aware of what a seasoned cord of firewood should look like when stacked.

Probably none of them. The IRA was full-on marxist for most of its history so it's no surprise there are still a subset of Irish republicans sucking Russian wiener to this day because they hope they still get that salty taste of the Soviet Union
Separatists styling themselves as "The Donbass Peoples' Republic" was a smart PR move because dumb commies the world over believe it's a burgeoning socialist paradise, not just land for Russian oligarchs to suck dry of its resources and make billions while the people live like it's still 1920

This recalls an attack on Mount Gabriel in Co Cork, where at 3.30am during September 1982, an INLA team seized two technicians on duty, tied them up, and detonated explosives around the facility (which the Irish government insisted was an air traffic control station, not a NATO facility).

The IRSP added: “Make no mistake, NATO are the biggest threat to world peace.

        >Russian propaganda is just out there, running wild
Normies don't watch these videos or subscribe to any usual propaganda sources and their involvement ends with an occasional donation to refugee charities and maybe comparing Putin to Hitler on some normie vent site like twitter. It very much doesn't reach them. The impression of vatnik propaganda being far reaching comes from a smaller group that is extremely pro-active on all possible channels i.e. first they watch their favourite post-gamer gate youtuber shitout another le based doompill, then they relocate to their favorite discord to le thumbs up another pig on ukie flag edit, then they enter the usual thread on PrepHole and make angry comments about recent events, then hop on telegram to share the lastest spicy twitter takes, all the same group.
High on rage dopamine they frick off do to something else until evening comes when the loop continues. Meanwhile glow glows sponsoring it record everything and compile a report assuming that the same group is at least four times as large due to engagement on multiple platforms.
Then you also get semi-normie doompill peddlers, usually from twitter or youtube, but even major gays like Tucker Carlson, also coming to the same glow glow conclusions who then announce how the revolution/boogaloo/whatever is about to happen plz buy my survival box 20% off with my code, which only reinforces the image of said group being larger than it is.
Then happening happens and nothing fricking happens because a bunch of permaonline discord incels will never do anything.

          Kek.
I have a colleague at work who told me ten times in two years (I am counting) that "things will go down this week" and that "everything will crash. You should prepare yourself." Ten fricking times. And he keeps doing it. The last time was just a month ago. He sees no issue with it and keeps deepthroating his "insider sources" (aka qtard moron telegram channels), no matter if they made him look a like fricking idiot ten times already.
Shit is just uncanny. I remember getting photos of bombed-out streets and unexploded ordnance from a friend who married a Ukrainian girl and volunteered from the first days. While this braindead fricktard at work has been telling me with a stone face that "there is no war in Ukraine. Only Ukrainian mob shooting each other, while Russians are watching." When I showed him the pics, he said it was fake. All because his favorite moron echo-chamber told him. Some people are unbelievably moronic.

A manager at my wife's work is full /q/boomer and just about every week he says some "x will happen on y, enjoy the show" bullshit.
He has been wrong every single time for three years now, and he still thinks he has always been right. If you point out his contradictions, he either claims he never said that, or brings up some story about how Trump or the Deep State did some maneuvering to change the plan.
If I ever start acting like that, I hope somebody puts a bullet in my head.

The funniest part is that when any of them actually does anything the rest will immediately call him a glowie agent or when Jan 6th happened and a lot of people started saying it was Antifa the second it was over

Whole Qtard frickery is nothing but politicized cowardice. These people are pissers in real life, they are pissers with their wife if they have any, they are pissers in their jobs. Unsurprisingly, they are also pissers in their views. Magical daddy Q/Trump/Putin will solve it all for me, I just have to read the signs. God forbid I would be called to do something real.

This is why /misc/Black folk are so averse to any kind of real action. Rare ones who actually rise above this systemic masturbatory cowardice will immediately get called glowBlack person.

Taking over the rest of Donetsk region is the last cope they've got for muh dombabwe narrative(because muh liberation(regime change) and muh novorossiya narratives have both already failed), and they're trying to psyop (you) into thinking Bakhmut is just that(don't look at Slovyansk and Kramatorsk, goy!)
