You're forgetting the best part. When those fresh out of university engineers pointed out the problems he fired their asses on the spot and kept going as is.
Why push some kind of anti libertarian message over this? It feels forced.

Except that the government has zero to do with it. He refused sensible, voluntary, private safety checks, probably fraudulently misrepresented the safety of the product to customers and had moronic internal practices. None of it has anything to do with any political philosophy, it's just some fricking idiot who had more dollars than sense.

You proved his point, although you may not realize it.
The safety recommendations were private, and therefore voluntary. Had they been legally mandated, all those overly rich idiots would be alive. Thus proving that at the end of the day, government exists to help the tired, the poor, the hungry [and the stupid from themselves]. See: seatbelt laws, soon-to-be submarine laws.
Libertarianism is all fun and games until someone dies, then it is “OK, that’s it, no more of that shit, fun’s over.” Some butthole always ruins it for everyone else, but buttholes exist so sadly “hands-off” approach to safety does not work, will never work.

It's unironically their own fault. Imagine being moronic enough to get onto a submarine with absolutely zero safety guarantees, made by the guy who boasts breaking them.
If you think this is the reason gubmint should replace engineers making standards with bueraucrats you should have been on that sub with the rich morons as well.

Literally only the last part, and to the detriment of everyone else.
>It was da joo- I mean da diversity hires
Everybody who worked on that was fricking white. He didn't give a shit about virtue, he wanted cheap and graduates are cheaper than actual expertise. And they're also less risk averse than 50 year old marine engineers because until they hit 30 it doesn't really occur to most people they can actually die.
The same kind of moron that lamented the "overly strict" safety regulations that surround the diving industry. He said they stifle innovation and it's why he repeatedly refused to get his sub professionally certified by any diving authority.
Here's the thing though, you aren't a millionaire that has lived his live interacting with people that you have a shit ton of leverage over. You aren't always right and don't always have the final say. You aren't a misunderstood visionary in your own mind. This guy who made the sub was all of that.
>The same kind of moron that lamented the "overly strict" safety regulations that surround the diving industry.
Somebody hook up Hyman's corpse to a generator, he's spining in his grave so fast he probably could power entire western seaboard
What a fricking double Black person
from his comments it’s painfully obvious he tried to be or paint himself as the sillicon valley tech billionaire that will “revolutionize” underwater exploration…
only hiring fresh college graduates, inspiring unique problem solving, hateboner for standardized safety regulations
I feel bad for the people that went down with him, but he can rot
>oh no, disaster! but thank god. we didn't implode 2000m underwater, our game controller didn't break and our ballast let us surface lol. >only 2 hours oxygen left! time to take a deep breath of fresh Atlantic air-
kek
Funniest part is it has 18 bolt slots. The 18th is the highest and hard to reach for the tech so they don't put it on. A news correspondant who asked said the CEO said there was no scientific difference in the seal with 17 bolts or 18 so it was fine.
>no scientific difference
Jesus fricking christ. That being said, water pressure does hold the door shut at depth so it's not like it's particularly critical so long as it'll hold the hatch in place. Honestly them not designing a hatch is the most bizarre part, I know it's more work than just slapping bolts on it but when water pressure does most of the work for you it's not that much extra work. Then again these are the tards that went with fricking steel pipes on a hook as ballast, as opposed to the electromagnets a lot of other subs use. Wanted to cheap out on the batteries I guess.
Theres footage of its construction. No hatch because its literally a giant roll of carbon fiber milled to 5 inches in thickness with two titanium domes glued (yes, glued) to the ends of the tube, one of which has a hole in it for the view port.
Yes, I saw the video, the forward dome could still have been made a hatch, you just need to retain it with the locking mechanism, assuming they used a conical seal, having a little ledge on that forwards ring for doglegs to lock against would've been enough. Would need some kind of mechanism to allow you to leverage it open if you needed to open it surfaced but it's not that big of a design challenge, the seal design should be doing most of the work.
.... so why drill an 18th bolt hole in the first place. Why not distribute the required 17 bolts equally over the diameter of the seal
What the frick is guy? Even shitskins aren't that bad
>what kind of a fricking moron designed something that monumentally stupid?
The kind who fired every single person who tried to get him to add safety features. Past a certain point he only hired specifically young, hopefully female or minority, engineers to work on the project because they would be less likely to try and put their foot down as opposed to someone with decades of work experience.
I don't think he's "woke", it's always just an easy way to cut costs since those would be the most expensive and hard to work with when you want to force your impossible ideas on them compared to fresh out of college mystery meat
That's... that's actually pretty common for minisubs. At the kind of depths they go to that's the best way of securing the hatch. The assumption is that you'd never need to open it from the inside.
Everyone who responded to that with a sneering comment and everyone who did as well is a moron.
I am on a board full of morons.
finally, someone who doesn't just knee jerk react and knows what they are talking about, it's hilarious how many anons don't know that it's a common thing and yet claim it's a bad design
Wanna know the scarriest part?
Given the depth and the pressure, and how the materials the vessel was made of tend to fail, it was probably more sturdy than the iron lung.
>"The deeper you go under the sea, the greater the pressure of the water pushing down on you. For every 33 feet (10.06 meters) you go down, the pressure increases by one atmosphere." >Titanic wreck is at 3800m >suddenly introducing 380 atmospheres (that is, 380x the atmospheric pressure at sea level) explosively, through a narrow hole
OP you ever heard of the byford dolphin incident?
Apparently, their pay can range all over the place but that's determined by a number of things like the location and how long the job is. I imagine the majority of their money has to go back into their certifications and training.
well yeah, he said sat divers, which already represents only ~10% of the licensed commercial divers in the US. Saturation divers are almost certainly on the higher end of the diver pay grade, easily $200k+/year.
Hellevik, being exposed to the highest pressure gradient and in the process of moving to secure the inner door, was forced through the crescent-shaped opening measuring 60 centimetres (24 in) long created by the jammed interior trunk door. With the escaping air and pressure, it included bisection of his thoracoabdominal cavity, which resulted in fragmentation of his body, followed by expulsion of all of the internal organs of his chest and abdomen, except the trachea and a section of small intestine, and of the thoracic spine. These were projected some distance, one section being found 10 metres (30 ft) vertically above the exterior pressure door.
>be diver >be closing door >suddenly youre paste sticking 10 meters on a ceiling
atleast he didn’t suffer
anyone have pictures of the immediate aftermath?
Dive school is pretty renowned as one of the hardest in the army. Fail rate is very high. And then you are 'needs of the army', infantry if very lucky. Better to go infantry off the bat with option 40 and after a term go from rangers to sof and aim for a scuba bubble team.

You guys have never met a pathologist. The dude likely didn't even put down his sandwich.
Damn son. Makes me glad to be a land lubber. Regardless, there's no way I would consider climbing in some high pressure steel contraption and getting lowered into the ocean
I enjoy how matter-of-fact autopsy reports read. The next lines basically say "too bad we weren't the ones collecting his bits because we might have found more; although based on where he was a bunch of him probably got blown out into the ocean".
People are rarely smart about everything. To be rich you really only need to be smart about a few things, they just have to be the right things, risk assessment of submersible vehicles probably doesn't rank very high wrt other skills.
Probably lack of research and Stockton had probably sold himself as some sort of materials engineering/oceanographic genius (he went to Princeton for aerospace engineering) and he had the right background as some sort of hobbyist with submersibles that he had built.
Rich people think having money makes them smart. This is, even if they really did make money with their own ingenuity, they can still be ignorant of a variety of other topics. Also, once you have Jeff Besos money, you have so much control over the world around you that you start to sincerely believe that you have plot armor.
>the crew could shoot open the hatch and swim to freedom?
Anon it's not sitting at 100 feet below the surface. Your solution would instantly kill them.

There I saved us a very meek 100 post thread (if that) that fizzled out because nobody gives a shit
It's possible that the wreck of the Titanic as been damaged by the search and rescue efforts and that the banging was an ROV or something colliding with the ship.
They aren't pressurised. They won't get the bends even if they're hooked to a balloon and send rocketing to the surface. From there it's just a matter of unscrewing the bolts, which isn't that hard.
Also, it's possible that if they conserved their air by not talking and trying to sleep as much as possible, they could have a little more time than the 96 hours figure. They probably can't sleep though if they're doing the right thing to be found, which is banging the hull with an SOS signal every few minutes.
And which sub is getting sent down to get them?
Rescue submersibles aren't built for depths they were going to, and none of the subs that can get there are involved in the operation because they're either not in operable condition or not able to get brought in any time soon
Why would there be? Both subs ultimately suffered the same fate.
Oh come on now, that's not fair. The sub in Atlantis got blown up by a literal giant sea monster. The Titan was a malformed creature that was unfit to explore the local pond that self-destructed along with its creator to spare itself from such a cringe-inducing existence.

Christ that's grim. But as other's have said, it's possible they already died. People who treat dangerous exploration like some sort of rich person's tourism experience need a reality check.
dickhead CEO probably crashed into the titanic and totally collapsed it, therefore ruining the wreck. at least we got those cool 3d scans before this happened
Considering that sub is made of thin metal and fiberglass with a shitty view porthole on the front its doubtful that they even made it past 4,000 feet in depth when Titanic is almost 12,000 feet deep.
Jesus christ, even stupider than Elon Musk trying to discredit that cave diver that told him his sub design was stupid by calling him a pedophile. At least Elon didn't actually go down in his poorly designed sub, either because he eventually realized cave pedo was right or he just got distracted by something shinier. But anyway, this is what happens when you try to NTR Poseidon, the ocean is his girl, and
he means to keep it that way.
>brutally mogs poseidon by tenderly loving the ocean so much she begs for more >lives to an old age after changing ocean exploration and hobbying forever
Damn right she was. >...in spite of the damage she was able to return to Southampton under her own power; no one was killed or seriously injured. HMS Hawke suffered severe damage to her bow and nearly capsized; she was repaired, but sunk by the German U-boat SM U-9 in October 1914.
with carbon fiber it shatters like porcelain. the moment when significant stress starts building up in a defect serious enough to complete failure is something like 300ms (milliseconds).
Dive to titanic 2.30 hours, went dark at 1.45 hours so somewhere around the half way mark to 3800 meters. Pressure at just 1000 meters under ocean is already over 90 bars
>no sign of a struggle on the inside or outside, completely empty >the only thing left is a tiny scrawling on one of the walls that says "they're coming"
It took that long because the peons knew very well that the entire company is fricked the moment they make that call; and the dumbfrick CEO is the one riding the sub, so instead of him they'll be the one facing the lawsuit squad.
Nah, he'll take the blame since it was his design and everything. He was hiring young graduates to save costs (like everything) and the young graduates aren't going to push back at his crazy stupidity. They'll be more desperate for a job and say "sure thing boss!". The entire ship was a death trap nowhere near on par of the other submersibles that were actually certified to go down to the titanic.
At first I thought it was one of those, so I figured they lost power. but the more I read, I realize this is just some shit he made up himself. Thing likely just exploded and they instantly died.
Man, can you imagine having that in your work history? Even if you were one of the few guys who raised concerns about the design, it's still a deathmark for your career. And it's impossible to hide, since any search will bring up your name.
Guess the only thing left is a career in drug running.
>What's yours?
That hiring women because of the fact they are women, as opposed to their merit, (unlike your pic) like the CEO clearly and evidently had based on what he said during interviews, is moronic, and undoubtedly a contributing factor as to why he is now shit and CO2 canned soup at 3800m depth.
They're not actually trying to rescue them, all the crews involved know there's nothing they can do
There's no serious rescue effort since everyone know it'd take weeks to mobilize the actual equipment to rescue them and they'd be long dead by then. It's more of an observation. The most likely scenario is that it just exploded since it's carbon fiber.
The options are: >they died instantly days ago >they died days ago >they have somehow managed to survive a bit longer and will be dead soon but weeks before we could even think about rescuing them
Breaking the rules when you know what you're doing and what's at stake is fine.
Breaking the rules on someone else's dime, without any serious level of competence, surrounded by people that wont question you, with your head lodged firmly up your ass is what gets you and everyone around you killed.
It's like the difference between a system administrator with 10 years experience discussing with his admin team about if they should put a root password on the test server, and the fresh out of college IT guy using 'password' as his password for literally everything on site.
Well…that’s the end of the pleasure submersible industry. The president and his partners might be going into a spiral of despair over how fricked they are. Looking forward to the failure analysis.
Everyone on the sub signed a waiver that said they couldn't sue the CEO if something went wrong. The company is safe from litigation, but definitely not getting new customers anytime soon.
He was the pilot, I doubt he gave a frick about the company at that point. He was probably thinking more about how he's gonna die with a curry shit smell in the air.
James Cameron is absolutely fuming right now. He spent his life telling everyone how cool submersibles are and now he knows he's going to have the same conversation about the Titan sub every single time he brings up submersibles again.
Except James Cameron hired professionals, specifically renting one of the big one-of-t's-kind exploration ship, and therefore manned and designed exclusively by whites in a military-like environement when it comes to rules.
you think your average clueless morons give a shit about that? Just look at the hysteria surrounding the controller while being completely oblivious how xbox controllers are used to pilot military hardware and not just only drones. Only thing wrong with the one they used on the sub was that they went with wireless instead of hard link

The mystery meat engineering grad might have screwed up the pressure hull design model resulting in an actual failure depth much lower than thought. If that happened I’m sure everyone in that thing died instantly.
If it’s something else like a fire or some other failure the CEO would have time to realize all his smart ideas were actually very, very foolish.
>mystery meat engineering grad might have screwed up the pressure hull design >does not denote units >joules become newtons
Rook 101 error. ALWAYS DENOTE YOUR UNITS!
Anons... I must confess. Deep inside me..mim happy that those rich guys died down there. I feel awful about this feeling but I can't stop it. For example that nerdy pajeet, he had everything he wanted just because he was born in a rich family. Wasting my 5 years salary in a morning trip...it's not fair bros... Now they paid.
Am I the only one with these feelings?
you and pretty much every other prole. in the last two days every discord server i'm in has been inundated with 'eat the rich' tier memes about the sub.
I disagree. To me watching a rich person die is like watching a grand old oak get chopped down. Even historical things like the French revolution are terrible for me to think about due to the executions
i must say that i am slightly pleased, but not because they're rich (250k $ is a 100 year salary for me, such is life for shithole minimum wage worker), but because they're willingly walked into a fricking deathtrap without any relevant certifications and with multiple cut corners just to "have fun".
and the best part is that the person responsible for this abomination of vehicle has reaped the fruit of his labor.
I can understand the sentiment (fricking hubris). They should still be rescued because of the whole laws of the sea thing. I do feel really bad for the father and son. Well besides the fact that he tends to ban people on twitter that talk about it, he constantly makes moves to try and negotiate with the CCP for more Tesla factories being opened in China. He also used slave labor at his Xinjiang factory while at the same time praising the CCP as a viable government alternative to the west. But probably most damning is that he took the labels off of Chinese government propagandists on twitter that said who they worked for, so that they could spread their propaganda more easily. And I know someone will respond that he did that for all countries, but the reason I make note of it was specifically because when he was in the process of buying twitter, we have the communications of China demanding he remove those labels for Chinese officials if he wants to keep doing business there.
He will winge and whine about what he sees as government overreach in the west but then will completely bend over for the most authoritarian government in the world if they give him more money.

That always surprises me how restictive they are, that is something you really won't find in any other country. By contrast, my wife is Vietnamese and while they're also a communist state (nominally), I could get citizenship if I live there for at least 5 years and show I know a good amount of the Vietnamese language. But China never lets foreigners become Chinese citizens ever no matter how long they've lived there and how acclimated they are to the culture. Even African countries don't do that, it's basically just China.

The sad reality is that America is probably the only modern country (despite all of Europe's best efforts) that you can truly be welcomed as an outsider, because while WASP is the default, the country and its values are largely meritocratic.
Every other country is race based, if you aren't part of the race, you'll never be a part of the people, no matter how much you try to fit in. At least China is being realistic about it.

You can train IQ. Asian countries have a big focus on education and standard tests so naturally they peform better on an IQ test. I'm assuming the depth prohibits the ability to setup a live video feed to a ship on the surface? Just seems silly that we still have to have submarines designed to accommodate human life when we could just send a drone down. These dudes weren't looking out of a window, but putting themselves at the bottom of the ocean to look at a computer monitor.
It's a compound issue. Some white people hate themselves due to peer pressure from other whites (and israelites) and non whites take advantage of it.
Now call me a vatnik/poo, get it out of your system.
pajeets love diversity hires because they benefit from the hiring practice, why would they want to shit on it? it's not like it's their designated shitting street.
The dude literally said he was trying to avoid hiring "old white guys" as much as possible. Whether you take him as being a true believer in social justice crap, or (more likely) a greedy butthole cynically using that excuse to hire less experienced people who'll contradict him less and not demand as high pay, this is still an L for diversity hiring as a concept.
I vividly remember talking to "industry representatives" (aka local CEOs) for a job fair that my college hosted. I remember three different companies repeating the same "old whiteys" line and I thought it was really strange. When I eventually got an internship with one of them, an "interior engineering" firm, the entire thing was run out of some residential house that the CEO was renting. Every single motherfricker there looked really young, even the managers.
Later I learned that this CEO just goes around setting up barely-functioning "engineering" firms all around the state and staffs them entirely with fresh grads, down to the middle management. If any of you live in Orange County, you might be aware of this lanky motherfricker. I fricking quit not even two days in.
I remember reading stories of people in shipwrecks who survived the flooding because little airpockets in the rooms where they could breathe.
I don't have a particular instance though
does not work in depths over 150-200 meters. Titanic for example had also airpockets when it rushed down to its abyss. About that depth blow out happens where the pressure underwater get so high it brute forces the airpockets out of the hull. Water bar values are not to be messed with
Yeah for like 2-3 minutes as the ship took its final plunge, but said air pockets would have imploded and even if they didn't, the air pressure would have reached a point where oxygen literally becomes toxic and anyone still inside at that point would have rapidly suffocated.
>Two Pakis onboard, a frenchman, an Englishman, and some queer CEO
An RPG-7, it's the only way to be sure.
holy frick imagine the smell
>a frenchman
What about a FAMAS?
Imagine those curry farts.
Just imagine the last thing you ever smell before you die is curry shits
Not enough distance to arm, unfortunately
I propose 4 lbs of C4
There is no hatch. The view port is bolted on with 17 bolts. It has to be removed from the outside in order to board or vacate the craft.
>There is no hatch. The view port is bolted on with 17 bolts. It has to be removed from the outside in order to board or vacate the craft.
what kind of a fricking moron designed something that monumentally stupid?
That is a fine question, honestly it's a mystery we might never solve.
Virtue signalling kills.
You're forgetting the best part. When those fresh out of university engineers pointed out the problems he fired their asses on the spot and kept going as is.
True libertarian, enterpreneurial spirit!
Why push some kind of anti libertarian message over this? It feels forced.
Because this is exactly what it is.
Rich c**t thinking he's smarter than everyone else and that the gubbamint is keepin' him down with all those gay fancy safety regulations.
>The safety recommendations were private, and therefore voluntary. Had they been legally mandated, all those overly rich idiots would be alive.
Yes air travel is obviously less safe than it was 50 years ago because of "the government" mandating new regulations and practices when something goes wrong.
It's much more inconvenient, bloated and annoying that it was before, that's fore sure. I doubt worthless bootlicker homosexuals like you experience this in the basement you spew your idiocy from either way.
Yes dying in an inferno because the control tower couldn't communicate simultaneously with multiple planes and your pilot assumed he was cleared is not bloated at all.
As 2007/2008 clearly showed, industries do just fine at regulating themselves and don't need da gubmint for anything at all :^)
>2007/2008
>industries regulating themselves
Why's there so many stupid shitlibs on /k/ recently?
>2008+15 black tulip bulb shilling
>hus proving that at the end of the day, government exists to help the tired, the poor, the hungry [and the stupid from themselves].
Literally only the last part, and to the detriment of everyone else.
>old experienced white males are exponentially more expensive than young interns
It's not even that.
experienced experts would have told him this shit is dangerous and he didn't want to hear that.
>Everybody who worked on that was fricking white.
Stopped reading there lol
The same kind of moron that lamented the "overly strict" safety regulations that surround the diving industry. He said they stifle innovation and it's why he repeatedly refused to get his sub professionally certified by any diving authority.
I’d think that deep sea diving was one of those things it would be literally impossible to be overly strict about.
Overly strict in this case means expecting me to spend money on the absolute bare minimum of equipment and safety
I feel bad for the people that went down with him, but he can rot
>oh no, disaster! but thank god. we didn't implode 2000m underwater, our game controller didn't break and our ballast let us surface lol.
>only 2 hours oxygen left! time to take a deep breath of fresh Atlantic air-
kek
NASA learned with apollo 1 that bolting your crew in is a pretty fricking dumb idea
Funniest part is it has 18 bolt slots. The 18th is the highest and hard to reach for the tech so they don't put it on. A news correspondant who asked said the CEO said there was no scientific difference in the seal with 17 bolts or 18 so it was fine.
>I noticed there are 18 holes to bolt the hatch in, but only 17 bolts themselves, why is that?
>Eh, erm, science
>deliberately fricking the safety margin on the most critical joint because you were too cheap to buy your guy a ladder
God I hate rich people.
"If you want to be safe, don't get out of bed" - quote from man currently dying/dead at the bottom of the ocean
>no scientific difference
That would mean 16 bolts.
>what kind of a fricking moron designed something that monumentally stupid?
The kind who fired every single person who tried to get him to add safety features. Past a certain point he only hired specifically young, hopefully female or minority, engineers to work on the project because they would be less likely to try and put their foot down as opposed to someone with decades of work experience.
The CEO was bragging about refusing to hire white experienced engineers because they were not "inspirational" or something like that.
I don't think he's "woke", it's always just an easy way to cut costs since those would be the most expensive and hard to work with when you want to force your impossible ideas on them compared to fresh out of college mystery meat
This is possibly the most epic example of "Get woke, go broke" seen yet. Diversity hire BS literally killed a billionaire.
because making a hinge, and a door that can be opened is a much, much more expensive project than just making it seal with bolts.
Laziness. Hatches, hinges and seals are engineering intensive.
That's... that's actually pretty common for minisubs. At the kind of depths they go to that's the best way of securing the hatch. The assumption is that you'd never need to open it from the inside.
Everyone who responded to that with a sneering comment and everyone who did as well is a moron.
I am on a board full of morons.
finally, someone who doesn't just knee jerk react and knows what they are talking about, it's hilarious how many anons don't know that it's a common thing and yet claim it's a bad design
>motherfrickers playing iron lung irl
Wanna know the scarriest part?
Given the depth and the pressure, and how the materials the vessel was made of tend to fail, it was probably more sturdy than the iron lung.
>17 bolts
Supposedly there are meant to be 18 bolts with the last one being harder to reach so they just went with 17 cus lol, lmao.
>"The deeper you go under the sea, the greater the pressure of the water pushing down on you. For every 33 feet (10.06 meters) you go down, the pressure increases by one atmosphere."
>Titanic wreck is at 3800m
>suddenly introducing 380 atmospheres (that is, 380x the atmospheric pressure at sea level) explosively, through a narrow hole
OP you ever heard of the byford dolphin incident?
No, but post a link and I'll squeeze it into my schedule.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Byford_Dolphin
I'm guessing that Wikipedia page doesn't have the grisly autopsy pics
See
for grizzly mess.
Thanks anon [spoiler]but it was supposed to be a joke about squeezing
Imagine the smell
>One guy got cut in half and had his guts squeezed out so hard they went 30 feet
Jesus Christ
It also instantly vaporized his eyes and boiled his blood
Physics is frickin terrifying
>projected some distance
JFC!
Jesus, no wonder sat divers make $30k a month
https://waterwelders.com/swim-salary-how-much-do-underwater-welders-earn/
Apparently, their pay can range all over the place but that's determined by a number of things like the location and how long the job is. I imagine the majority of their money has to go back into their certifications and training.
well yeah, he said sat divers, which already represents only ~10% of the licensed commercial divers in the US. Saturation divers are almost certainly on the higher end of the diver pay grade, easily $200k+/year.
>The blood of the three divers left intact inside the chambers likely boiled instantly, stopping their circulation
fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
Hellevik, being exposed to the highest pressure gradient and in the process of moving to secure the inner door, was forced through the crescent-shaped opening measuring 60 centimetres (24 in) long created by the jammed interior trunk door. With the escaping air and pressure, it included bisection of his thoracoabdominal cavity, which resulted in fragmentation of his body, followed by expulsion of all of the internal organs of his chest and abdomen, except the trachea and a section of small intestine, and of the thoracic spine. These were projected some distance, one section being found 10 metres (30 ft) vertically above the exterior pressure door.
>be diver
>be closing door
>suddenly youre paste sticking 10 meters on a ceiling
atleast he didn’t suffer
anyone have pictures of the immediate aftermath?
>the crescent-shaped opening measuring 60 centimetres (24 in) long created by the jammed interior trunk door.
Hyup, through you go
in less than 0.1 seconds
Aw sweet, manmade horrors beyond my comprehension
barotraumas are among the scariest shit in the world my dude
>Dude got blasted through this
Yeah, I'm never setting foot in a Submarine unless it's docked. Frick the deep ocean and negative pressure.
At least the guy responsible for the accident also died because of it
>and I'll squeeze it into my schedule.
Carlos, is that you?
>enlisted in Army recently
>recruiter said I could be a Diver and guaranteed Hawaii
>thought of this webm and immediately said no
>guaranteed Hawaii
No single women and very expensive.
Too much competition even for WestPac widows.
Your dream posting is Korea, Japan, or Phillipines. Pussy all over. Lear nthe local language and you got a wife.
Dive school is pretty renowned as one of the hardest in the army. Fail rate is very high. And then you are 'needs of the army', infantry if very lucky. Better to go infantry off the bat with option 40 and after a term go from rangers to sof and aim for a scuba bubble team.

I didn't even know that could happen I just though it would be the first bit to fly off.
jesus h christ
AAAAAAAAAAA
>The remains of diver 4 were sent to us in four plastic bags
You can just HEAR the "I don't get paid enough for this shit" in this sentence lmao
>Guys say they're bringing in diver 4 for autopsy
>"Sure, just put him on the table over there"
>Guys come walking in with a bunch of bin bags that make a squish when dropped on the table
>Take off glasses, rub my temples and sigh
>It's gonna be one of those days, isn't it?
It'd be like trying to autopsy a meat pie.
You guys have never met a pathologist. The dude likely didn't even put down his sandwich.
>the soft tissues of the face were found, however, completely separated from the bones.
>the soft tissues of the abdomen and the back... formed an empty sack
damn, skin is tough stuff
Damn son. Makes me glad to be a land lubber. Regardless, there's no way I would consider climbing in some high pressure steel contraption and getting lowered into the ocean
>blood boils instantly, cooking the proteins and causing fat deposits to appear instantaneously throughout your veins and arteries
jfc
totally unnatural conditions humans should not be subjected to
>Penis is present, but inveganated.
I didn't even know there was a word for getting your dick smashed in so hard it's now a vegana.
Inveganated means "turned inside out" and can be applied to anything which has been turned inside out.
I enjoy how matter-of-fact autopsy reports read. The next lines basically say "too bad we weren't the ones collecting his bits because we might have found more; although based on where he was a bunch of him probably got blown out into the ocean".
>"The remains of diver 4 were sent to us in four plastic bags (Fig. 7)."
>When it's gotcha, it's gotcha
except the higher pressure is on the outside so in this case it would be the water rushing in through the hole
Why would anyone pay money to go in that death trap?
People are rarely smart about everything. To be rich you really only need to be smart about a few things, they just have to be the right things, risk assessment of submersible vehicles probably doesn't rank very high wrt other skills.
Rich people think they're immortal anon.
That or they think they're material wealth will be used as a bribe into heaven.
I bet you think
>the sun is falling out of orbit and is going to crash into the earth
threads are serious too you no fun homosexual
Fun threads have at least some feasibility to them, this ones just dumb
>hurr shoot it with rpg
>hurr c4
>hurr plunger gun
>hurr revolver with enough shots for everyone to an hero
There I saved us a very meek 100 post thread (if that) that fizzled out because nobody gives a shit
>Posting spoilers
Bet your friends love you
I just don't get it
demolition charge
Why, an M1911 of course
Blow the hatch wide open with one shot
But not a .22lr. It would bounce around like on the inside of a skull.+
>it was the government fault for not making giant search and rescue aquatic robot
The pics oh god
Their oxygen timer
https://countingdownto.com/countdown-pages/bY5rKTzD
Now it takes a real sick puppy to set up a site like that.
It's pointless anyway since they're probably paste
I suggest you watch Kirk in 'Ace in the Hole'. Great flick starring Route 66 in Navaho country, also Kirk
'Twas /misc/. They have a round the clock general thread about the sub
Hahahaahahaha
wheredoyouthinkyouare.webm
I reckon they're dead already. Electrical fire. Taking bets... now.
The banging sounds that were heard probably meant the CO2 poisoning or hypothermia got them and not something quickly like a leak or fire.
>The banging sounds that were heard
May not have even been them.
Well what else could it be?
Don't ask questions you don't want answers to
Dozens of other ships and hardware in the water. The Navy did not confirm regular beats. They said indeterminate.
Hh probably nothing. I wouldn't worry about it
I wouldn't worry about it
look at those fricking noodles
The forbidden spaghetti
Someone that waits, sleeping.
While being dead.
It's complicated and only Kristen Stewart dealt decently with it.
It's possible that the wreck of the Titanic as been damaged by the search and rescue efforts and that the banging was an ROV or something colliding with the ship.
The Orca uprising has begun. The day of the blubber is finally upon us.
I wouldn't worry about us, What's deep in the ocean isn't important.
The banging sound could have come from outside of the sub too.
>mfw, they want in
>4.5 hours left
They're almost out of air. I hope they get found soon.
Even if they are, there's not enough time to actually save them
They aren't pressurised.
You send down a tethered remote operated vehicle and hook it to the sub. We have tons and tons of deep sea ROVs that can reach the titanic.
What should we do when the timer hits zero? Dress in our finest attire and take shots of brandy like Benjamin Guggenheim did as the ship went down?
>the Anne Frank pedo
Go back to PrepHole
I will remain rent free in your seething head as you suffocate Mr. Stockton
Where'd your pedo pics go?
idk, probably assmad Jannies lol
Oh come on now, that's not fair. The sub in Atlantis got blown up by a literal giant sea monster. The Titan was a malformed creature that was unfit to explore the local pond that self-destructed along with its creator to spare itself from such a cringe-inducing existence.
Frick I hate seeing Anne. She's totally my ideal daughter or wife. I've had fantasies about hiding under a bed when the Dutch police come and raid the house and lighting them up. I'd literally butcher a thousand men just to protect the smile of a young girl. All that shit out of Ukraine pisses me off and pushes me towards TZD.
>'ve had fantasies about hiding under a bed when the Dutch police come and raid the house and lighting them up. I'd literally butcher a thousand men just to protect the smile of a young girl. All that shit out of Ukraine pisses me off and pushes me towards TZD.
Don't we all.
Christ that's grim. But as other's have said, it's possible they already died. People who treat dangerous exploration like some sort of rich person's tourism experience need a reality check.
>10 mins left
it's over...
That timer was made incorrectly. The real timer has another hour on it.
https://infogram.com/ned-9330-titan-sub-countdown-timer-1h8n6m3dkyp9z4x
Poor bastards
Chances are, they died a while back
What's the last song you'd want to listen to before dying?
Frickin hell, this is actual nightmare fuel, if it had been happening to actually decent people, I'd be horrified.
Okay but seriously what gun could shoot off the bolts
An MBT cannon, maybe
dickhead CEO probably crashed into the titanic and totally collapsed it, therefore ruining the wreck. at least we got those cool 3d scans before this happened
But anyway, this is what happens when you try to NTR Poseidon, the ocean is his girl, and
he means to keep it that way.
>brutally mogs poseidon by tenderly loving the ocean so much she begs for more
>lives to an old age after changing ocean exploration and hobbying forever
>implying he wasn’t Poseidon‘s son
Tangent, he found the Britannic, Titanic's younger sister that sank in WW1.
Olympic was the only ship of that class to not die within a year of construction.
It was also the only ocean liner to sink a submarine in combat and obliterated a lightship on one of its final voyages before being scrapped
She was truly /k/ - the ocean liner
Damn right she was.
>...in spite of the damage she was able to return to Southampton under her own power; no one was killed or seriously injured. HMS Hawke suffered severe damage to her bow and nearly capsized; she was repaired, but sunk by the German U-boat SM U-9 in October 1914.
Ever read up on The Wolf? WW1 commerce raider and total boss. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/SMS_Wolf_(1913)
One grown ass man can demolish this toilet
>sub rolls upside down on bottom
>g.guys, the toilet won't flush
Imagine paying a quarter of a million dollars to ride on a vessel where you have to shart in a plastic box and share it with 5 other people
I feel like a genius for not buying that exact model of controller a few years ago. Didn't want the controls to cut out while gaming.
It was spposed to be a 3 hr tour, a 3 hr tour...
The pressure is get rough, the tiny sub was crushed
with carbon fiber it shatters like porcelain. the moment when significant stress starts building up in a defect serious enough to complete failure is something like 300ms (milliseconds).
Dive to titanic 2.30 hours, went dark at 1.45 hours so somewhere around the half way mark to 3800 meters. Pressure at just 1000 meters under ocean is already over 90 bars
they imploded
>Coast Guard finally finds the sub and brings it back up
>They open the hatch and find absolutely nothing inside
>absolutely nothing inside
>except map to elephant graveyard with X
Yeah just ignore the black oil coating everything, nothing to worry about
>no sign of a struggle on the inside or outside, completely empty
>the only thing left is a tiny scrawling on one of the walls that says "they're coming"
How much do you guys want to bet the wife of the ceo tries to sue everyone involved with the “rescue “
Letter of submersibles industry leaders indicates design oversights were made and electrical incidents on maiden voyage. Damn death trap.
If anything, she should sue the company itself first for waiting 12 hours to raise the alarm.
It took that long because the peons knew very well that the entire company is fricked the moment they make that call; and the dumbfrick CEO is the one riding the sub, so instead of him they'll be the one facing the lawsuit squad.
>In disturbing the Titanic, I fear we have awakened a sleeping cat and filled him with a terrible resolve.
>swim to freedom
even if they had the oxygen and energy to swim that far, the bends would kill them
Sounds like b***h talk to me
not just that but the water pressure would kill them instantly as well
Water pressure isn't real.
the
team
And none of them will get a job in an engineering position ever after...
>Guess the only thing left is a career in drug running.
You mean to tell me even McDonald's wouldn't hire these fricking idiots after this debacle?
Well, the cartels ARE looking for people that can build subs
>"So what's this multiple years long gap in your resumé?"
>"I'd rather not answer that."
Just say you were in jail
Easier that way
True. Options:
>spiritual retreat
>physical therapy
>faith healer
>psychic advisor
>life coach
>cult member
>kidnaped/hostage
Man, adventure tourism is so fricking moronic.
What a diverse and vibrant looking group. Inspirational.
The vast majority of those people, 17 out of 24 are white.
And most of those are women, your point?
>Your point?
They're still white. What's yours?
>What's yours?
That hiring women because of the fact they are women, as opposed to their merit, (unlike your pic) like the CEO clearly and evidently had based on what he said during interviews, is moronic, and undoubtedly a contributing factor as to why he is now shit and CO2 canned soup at 3800m depth.
Would.
Fricking 50 yo white guys ruin everything.
>teleport help to Paki billionaires
Send a CS grenade (pin-out) for the keks
.45 ACP
I'd send a revolver with 4 bullets and see what they do with it
No offense intended to fans of the movie.
Why would there be? Both subs ultimately suffered the same fate.
that's not even an official controller
it's some cheap off brand crap
>2 hours and 22 minutes left until life support fails
The search crews better hurry the frick up.
They're not actually trying to rescue them, all the crews involved know there's nothing they can do
They dont really need to rush, all they will find is a coffin
There's no serious rescue effort since everyone know it'd take weeks to mobilize the actual equipment to rescue them and they'd be long dead by then. It's more of an observation. The most likely scenario is that it just exploded since it's carbon fiber.
The options are:
>they died instantly days ago
>they died days ago
>they have somehow managed to survive a bit longer and will be dead soon but weeks before we could even think about rescuing them
None - let the dumb frickers perish, especially the 77 year old grave robbing Frog arrogant thief - die you nasty bastard
>especially the 77 year old grave robbing Frog arrogant thief - die you nasty bastard
Guess you could say he fricked around and found out
M320 with gas rounds
And... they're dead.
I actually hope the had a quick death rather than slowly dying in that sun the last few days
and now they're for sure dead
Found this nugget.
He's earned it at this point.
Shame he had to take innocent people down with him.
These are the words of someone who has never attended a FMEA meeting.
>Shoot one .22 LR
>Bullet bounces around the hull, killing all of them instantly
Well…that’s the end of the pleasure submersible industry. The president and his partners might be going into a spiral of despair over how fricked they are. Looking forward to the failure analysis.
The president is on the sub. You're goddamn right he's going into a spiral of despair, assuming he's still alive.
If he's lucky he didn't live long enough to realise how hard he fricked himself and 2 of his family members.
I don’t think think the waiver protects if the company skirted safety standards
The lawyers will love you, sweetie!
Only thing wrong with the one they used on the sub was that they went with wireless instead of hard link
cameron absolutely is going to be sick of hearing "whataboutism titan"
>Just look at the hysteria surrounding the controller while being completely oblivious how xbox controllers are used to pilot military hardware and not just only drones.
it's completely different things you moron
it's not even an official xbox controller
nothing about minmaxing you moron
of course a moron would defend elon musk
The mystery meat engineering grad might have screwed up the pressure hull design model resulting in an actual failure depth much lower than thought. If that happened I’m sure everyone in that thing died instantly.
If it’s something else like a fire or some other failure the CEO would have time to realize all his smart ideas were actually very, very foolish.
>mystery meat engineering grad might have screwed up the pressure hull design
>does not denote units
>joules become newtons
Rook 101 error. ALWAYS DENOTE YOUR UNITS!
I'd everyone died days ago then...w-what was the banging?
Probably a shark or something trying to scavenge
>sharks at 2x grand canyons depth
Not too bright.
I wouldn't worry about it if I were you
/x/ here.
It's the call of the deep. They will be found "alive" then quickly rot.
probably literally anything else capable of making sound in what is 70% of the planet anon
>I'd everyone died days ago then...w-what was the banging?
Pieces of the craft banging together in deep ocean currents.
are they really dead if we refuse to believe they are? cant they live forever?
they're neither dead or alive until we find the sub and look inside
>elvis and jesus approved
Amen.
Am I the only one with these feelings?
>im happy that those rich guys died down there.
you and pretty much every other prole. in the last two days every discord server i'm in has been inundated with 'eat the rich' tier memes about the sub.
I think it's hilarious and they all deserved it for getting into that deathtrap of a sub, especially the ceo homosexual and the rich pakis
I know it's awful but I don't care
I disagree. To me watching a rich person die is like watching a grand old oak get chopped down. Even historical things like the French revolution are terrible for me to think about due to the executions
but the oaks aren't moronic
Or inbred.
modern day managerial elites are nothing like the aristocracy of the ancien regime.
Envy is normal. It's only bad if it grows into something like learned helplessness or general spite.
the CEO son doesn't deserve this
But his father deserves it? Elaborate your twisted logic
>5 years salary
Frick you, that's closer to 10 for me
That's like 10 years salary for me. Can't say I disagree with your sentiment.
i must say that i am slightly pleased, but not because they're rich (250k $ is a 100 year salary for me, such is life for shithole minimum wage worker), but because they're willingly walked into a fricking deathtrap without any relevant certifications and with multiple cut corners just to "have fun".
and the best part is that the person responsible for this abomination of vehicle has reaped the fruit of his labor.
You salary is $208/month? 🙁
yep.
I can understand the sentiment (fricking hubris). They should still be rescued because of the whole laws of the sea thing. I do feel really bad for the father and son. I don’t know too much about the richgays on the sub, but no one deserves that. Still anyone who got on that sun was moronic, even space tourism is safer than this.
fricking sorry state this site is in if anon has to confess a wienery moron dying is funny to them
of course it is this site never recovered from election tourists deepthroating the boot
don't cut yourself on that edge le ebin oldgay XD
Only difference between you and everybody else who was here before you got here in 2014 is that everybody else grew the frick up
>he says on the board mainly about watching webms of people getting shot
So you're a wartourist too?
This board was about weapons before it became /k/ - Ukraine War
I'm happy those rich gays will die in their own shit and piss while slowly suffocating. I hope Elon Musk is next.
What did Elon do to you
Elon is a moron who gets rich off the work of others, he is not any smarter than the gay who built this sub.
holy cope
What cope? Elon is a moron. Look up his moronic ideas or his Elden Ring build.
>le heckin VIDEO GAMES
I'm sure you have some pretty insightful political opinions you'd love to divulge as well hahahaha
>quickly changing the subject to not admit elon musk is a moron
I know lol he's like heckin Voldemort! Ugh!
in case you are a moronic /misc/tard elon musk is a pro troony sjw
not sure why morons from /misc/ worship that cuck
>elon musk is a pro troony sjw
I feel like there's so many more concrete reasons to attack Musk but almost no one ever does, like how he's a complete simp for the CCP. Dude is an American purely by convenience, I guarantee that if Jack Ma never got Jack Ma'd and thus scared all other billionaires, he'd be making plans to move to China right now.
>like how he's a complete simp for the CCP
never heard of this
>but basing any of your opinions about a person based on fiction
nobody does that you moron
an elden ring build is based on math and logic, that's why it shows he is a moron
>never heard of this
Well besides the fact that he tends to ban people on twitter that talk about it, he constantly makes moves to try and negotiate with the CCP for more Tesla factories being opened in China.
That could explain why he also protects all the Russian shills on Twitter.
>he'd be making plans to move to China right now.
doubt as while he really is a simp for lawless dictatorships, like CCP or Russhitia, he needs access to american engineering, particularly rocketry related for his flagship stuff like that rocket company. Going full ching chong would mean either his baby dies as it is severed from access due to national security reasons or he is forced to recede his controlling shares by the management of the company.
would be funny though if he went to the mainland. He would be robbed blind and changs absolutely give zero fricks about foreigners and see them as useful tools to be abused until they have learned enough to throw them out. They dont give a frick how much money you have. A laowai is a laowai and will never ever even get official citizenship papers, much less actually accepted as chinese not matter whom he marries
>A laowai is a laowai and will never ever even get official citizenship papers, much less actually accepted as chinese not matter whom he marries
Hit submit too soon, was going to say that even Japan with its wierd law that says you can't hold dual citizenship and thus have to give up your previous nationalist if you want to become a Japanese national, it isn't actually that hard to become a Japanese citizen, it's just a lot of paperwork.
Everyone says that but Japan is pretty welcoming as long as you act like they do. They're just sticklers for everything being done a certain way and when you're doing things their way, it's generally all good.
Being truly "one of them" and being a citizen are 2 entirely different things. The latter being exclusive to Chinese people serves no purpose other than to intentionally make everyone who's not them in their borders second-class by law.
Just to preface, I'm not defending the chinks, I have a whole folder of chinese torturing animals and industrial accidents.
That said, if their demographics are to be believed, they have more than a billion people, why would they need foreigners becoming citizens?
>That said, if their demographics are to be believed
I mean not for long, especially since they recently more or less admitted they overcounted their population by 100 million
No surprise there, I also doubt their IQ scores. You mean to tell me that of that >1 billion people, most of which are probably dipshit farmers farming rice and wienerroaches out in the sticks, they just so happen to average more than most of Europe and the US? Frick on out of here lmao
You can train IQ. Asian countries have a big focus on education and standard tests so naturally they peform better on an IQ test. You know, I think while there is a genetic component to intelligence, the actual real world intelligence of a lot of people is capped by their education and other factors and not by their genetic potential. Which people of all ethnicities (except maybe Aboriginals) have in pretty similar amounts
>Asian countries have a big focus on education and standard tests so naturally they peform better on an IQ test.
Unfortunately their teaching techniques are godawful with the extreme focus on rote memorization.
>(except maybe Aboriginals
We goin' here?
Not the same. Most countries are exclusive in who gets to be part of the in-crowd, yes. China is afaik the only country that officially says that having equal protection under the law is exclusive to being Han. Like why would you say that out loud, that there is an official, sanctioned 2-tiered justice system? Even the Soviets when they were just looking for excuses to gulag people never admitted to that.
>Like why would you say that out loud, that there is an official, sanctioned 2-tiered justice system
To make it clear so there are no violent misunderstandings where Africans think they have the right to ape out and burn shops.
Except China also extends it to their own non-Han Chinese minorities who have been living in the region that's today China for thousands of years.
Yes, and? Same principle. Chinese prefer a clear, orderly hierarchy. They have corruption, they have face, they have all the normal human problems too; but the default cultural setting when asking 'what's good in life' is peaceful order instead of freedom.
Saved.
I don't care about Elon Musk, but basing any of your opinions about a person based on fiction makes none of your opinions worth hearing
>but basing any of your opinions about a person based on fiction
What the frick are you taking about?
>he didn't minmax his heckin Elden Ring build!
Try to keep up bro
Case in point lmao
>dude this guy is a fricking moron, he pays for cameos in capeshit and posts moronic video game builds online in a pathetic attempt at being hip with the kids
>AAAAAAAAAAAAIEEEEEEEEEEEEEE D-D-D-D-D-DID SOMEONE MENTION VIDEO GAMES?????????????????? G-G-G-G-G-G-G-G-GOTTA SPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERG
This is pathetic.
the last time elon came up with literally anything himself was arguably him being a co dev to paypal
Elon Musk and Ghislaine Maxwell raped me during the sweltering summer of '12.
>Elon Musk and Ghislaine Maxwell raped me during the sweltering summer of '12.
Ok, Anne Frank.
>t. bullet-sweating kung fu instructor
I said it was Elon Musk and Ghislaine Maxwell, not the entire Confederate Army
I would send them an A10, so they can just fly out of the water and get to the nearest shore
It's over
They got isekaid
rest in piss and shit
but at what point did the percentage of curry farts overtake the percentage of oxygen? they might've choked to death days ago already
>pay millions for a submarine
>use a $20 chink controller
Stockton-sama, I kneel
I'm assuming the depth prohibits the ability to setup a live video feed to a ship on the surface? Just seems silly that we still have to have submarines designed to accommodate human life when we could just send a drone down. These dudes weren't looking out of a window, but putting themselves at the bottom of the ocean to look at a computer monitor.
>live video feed
You would need a cable, Wifi doesn't work under water.
There was a window to look out of.
Fixed
Yeah but now it costs $40m to build and you can't take cheap millionaires along because it would cost $2m+ per person per trip or some shit.
>have an unused bolt slot
>add structural weakness
>???
>profit
You know what they say about engineers
>if it aint broke, it doesn't have enough features yet
Why isn't it symmetrical? The sharp tail adds lots of stress. Planes crashed because of such thing.
Because the CEO hates old white engineers.
Its just a cover, there are titanium hemispheres at both ends but it wouldnt look cool
Guy was 100% white, an engineer with hands on involvement at every stage of the design but it was muh diversity hires that caused this.
I hate you obsessed mouthbreathers at this point.
Boo hoo b***h
nta but this pic has 3, maybe 4 browns, and an Asian, but all of the sudden it's an all brown production?
As usual, the CEO was some lolbert trying to virtue signal and hire more cheapo fresh graduates for him to ignore and gire
Nobody is saying it's all brown, but feel free to continue molding reality to your delusions
>continue molding reality to your delusions
This is called being human, duh.
I thought the consensus was that lolbertarian boomer was to blame.
Diversity hires shtick is perpetrated by pajeet shills.
Whether you take him as being a true believer in social justice crap, or (more likely) a greedy butthole cynically using that excuse to hire less experienced people who'll contradict him less and not demand as high pay, this is still an L for diversity hiring as a concept.
to
no
blacks
>diversity = more black people
Very hollywood of you
I vividly remember talking to "industry representatives" (aka local CEOs) for a job fair that my college hosted.
>Diversity hires shtick is perpetrated by pajeet shills.
My Black person do you even think about what you say before posting?
>an engineer with hands on involvement at every stage of the design
Founder's Syndrome.
>can't be opened from the outside
>even if they resurface they would still die
Could anyone have been alive inside of the Titanic after she sank?
I remember reading stories of people in shipwrecks who survived the flooding because little airpockets in the rooms where they could breathe.
I don't have a particular instance though
There is a modern instance of this
Fricking bonkers
The human body really is incredible
does not work in depths over 150-200 meters. Titanic for example had also airpockets when it rushed down to its abyss. About that depth blow out happens where the pressure underwater get so high it brute forces the airpockets out of the hull. Water bar values are not to be messed with
those 3 poor dudes in some ship during pearl harbor lasted like a week + in some sealed store room before dieing
For a couple of minutes, the stern still had air pockets. But then the stern violently imploded
Yeah for like 2-3 minutes as the ship took its final plunge, but said air pockets would have imploded and even if they didn't, the air pressure would have reached a point where oxygen literally becomes toxic and anyone still inside at that point would have rapidly suffocated.
I heard that a debris field was found this morning. Do you think someone punched the viewing port glass and mugged those rich guys?
