Every day off I have I drive 300 miles anywhere I want and have sex with prostitutes and go to restaurants and buy new guns and outdoor gear using the money that would otherwise have gone to rent. It's pretty awesome once you get past the first year.

I'm not homeless, however where I live PrepHole is banned unless you're willing to divert from the trail every night to shack up in a hotel. Most of the trails don't allow for wild camping save one or two which are not easily accessible to me so I simply camp in any secluded spot I can find. The worst that can happen is someone asks me to move on, which as of now has only happened once.

Same, i also have a 5lb refillabe propane tank with hose to run the heater. Its much more cost effective. I keep a little green tank just in case any moisture forms in the hose and freezes, which can happen if its bad cold (-20F or colder) out.

based! I run a 20 lb tank to my little buddy and had the tank freeze up in a -50 windchill Night. I have frostbite on one of my feet now lmao. I now keep a spare 20lb tank inside the tent. but the 1lb green bottle is smart!

Keep your tank elevated and in a bucket of water, it'll take a lot longer to freeze. Even if the water starts to freeze up it's warm enough to keep the propane gaseous, but if you have it in the warm zone of whatever shelter you have, it shouldn't fully freeze up.

at the time it was inside a milk crate, but it didn't help much. I'd be interested in seeing how long it would take for water to freeze in that temp. not very I'm sure.... but thank you! I'll expirement when winter comes back

windchill is how it feels on your skin because of the speed of the wind. it won't make something freeze faster. how do you not know this?

-40 ambient and -50 windchill is still plenty cold enough to frick up propane flow. jackass

jfc look at a windchill chart and engage your brain. at -40°F it would only be a 3mph gust to get a -50° wind chill. but at -15° you could still have a windchill of -50° with high winds. that's a 25° difference in temperature!

and that's why its moronic to use windchill when talking about freezing LP tanks

I like the little buddy but you need at least a 5lb tank, the green ones are disposable and meant for moronic consumers. If you can haul around a heater, you can haul some more fuel.

Isopropyl alcohol and a ceramic drain pipe works nice. Stuff some rags into one end, pour in a small bottle and you've got a 4 hour fire.
