Ukraine is unironically trying to engage in deep battle doctrine RN. The Challengers are being saved for which of these offensives shows a breakthrough.

All the challengers are in the Ukie 82nd air assault division. Ukie air assault, like the VDV it shares heritage with, is a separate arms of the military used as an elite strategic reserve.

Challengers will be used when Ukraine wants to concentrate on a particular objective or during the exploitation phase.

Chally without Chobam is like a troony without a penis. Why even bother?

Ukie challengers have chobam. There have been reports that the Brits have been working with Ukraine to minimise the chance of the being captured. Apparently core to this was that they be used on offensive breakthrough operations where the Brits feel there is less chance of them being cut off and surrounded. It may alternatively mean that the new 'dorchester' armour on Chally 3 is significantly different or that the Brits have just decided a successful Ukie offensive is worth the risk.

Pretty sure most modern tanks have boiling vessels now. Comes from the Iraq war where Challengers were pretty singular in that facet.

I heard that back during the first gen of modern MREs US troops had to heat them by (among other things) stuffing them in a vehicle exhaust. Makes sense that they would be slightly jelly of anyone who had a water heater ready to go at all times.

Coming for Troitske, probably. Pick related is the Luhansk train network, or lack thereof. Take Troitske, that is the entire front without rail supplies. Push on to the next city in the east, that is the main road taken out of commission as well. Then just put it on a boil and wait for the fall offensive.

      Anonymous

It should also be noted that taking out the Troitske trainline does not only cut logistics for the Luhansk front. It cuts the total amount of logistical train lines into the donbas for Russia from 3 to 2, and to the entire front from 4 to 3. Stormshadow the bridge and that is 2 logistical lines. Push the Zap offensive down to Vilne or Bilmak, and you can sever the entire train logistics system in all of west Zaporizna, left bank Kherson and Crimea. My guess is that this combo is the main goal of this offensive; leave Russia in an abysmal position for the fall offensive when there are expected to be 5 or so more foreign batalions, more Leo1's than god, Abrams and a fleet of F16s as well.

there is still a lot of stuff we did not see destroyed... were leos and bradleys simply attacking most heavily defended part of frontline? or rest is waiting for probing attacks to provide answer where to push?

  17. 11 months ago
    Anonymous

CR2 is the tank element for the Stryker Brigade which is still in reserve along with several others. They'll probably get deployed as part of the secondary push or used as assault guns because HESH loves concrete.

Don't the leopards use different use different ammo than the T-62s that Ukraine uses?

        Anonymous

I have no clue why you chose those two models
If you thought I meant 20 models of tanks I didn't, I meant 20 CR2s and I was wrong about that because they're only getting 14 actually

          Anonymous

I thought they'd received an additional 14 after that?

            Anonymous

Even if so that's still a miniscule number compared to the amount needed for even the kind of probing attacks we've seen on any useful scale

            >I have no clue why you chose those two models
I just picked a random Soviet Union tank and the leopards since the leopards are also a NATO tank given to Ukraine like the Challenger.

there's also rather a few more of them than there are challengers and no small number of vehicles use, using your example, the L7 or U5TS, while only one tank uses the L30 and its two piece ammo

              Anonymous

sorry I'm fricking braindead and can't write, obviously only one tank uses the U5TS but there were a lot of T-62s built

No the abrams has participated in massive armored assaults to great effect and the leopard is actively pushing in the largest peer war in 80 years. You will never be able to dispute this. The challenger has only seen combat in COIN operations
