Always heard this but im not sure it's a great idea tbh. You'll get raped by the current 5-8% inflation rate. Might maked more sense to just chill with S&P 500 and if that crashes you did your best move back in with parents since the economy just imploded.

nta but I get $950 a month in interest pmts from my bank. How is this bad exactly?
Anonymous
What's the return rate on it? Highest I've seen for normal accounts is like 4% which means you'd have to have nearly $300k in the bank, and even more with "standard" rates. That's stupid for two reasons, one, just slapping that money into the S&P500 will get you at least double that return over time, and two, the FDIC only insures up to $250k. So either someone at your bank made a huge frickup with your account, or you've got hundreds of thousands of dollars in it that's basically burning away due to inflation.

He believes wealth is proportionate to merit. It's an unfortunately common belief.
I used one of those cheapo plain metal gun cabinets. Homak brand
Found the studs in the wall. Cut a peice of cardboard the same size as the cabinet to protect the wall a little and mounted it with some 3 inch sheet rock type screw. Drilled some holes in the bottom and put a couple in floor through the carpet. They made a small hole so when I moved out I filled the holes with some DAP white caulk, after it dried you could never tell it was there. The floor holes was in carpet and never would have shown
All over the place. One on my coffee table and the rest strewn about my bedroom. Someone breaks in and I guess it's GG but there's always someone home 95% of the day and no way to tell when I'm specifically gone.
I just have a specific closet for guns that has a lock on it. But yeah, I usually keep guns around my house too. Whats the point of having them if they are all in one location and you cant grab one when something happens and you are in a different part of your house?
Your premise is wrong.
You CAN buy a safe, you are choosing not to because what, your perception of a transient "lifestyle"?
Buy the fricking safe. If you can afford a gun or two you can afford a safe. Now frick off.
My apartment door is an exterior one that's like 3mm steel for the door and frame going into concrete/brick. I figure it would do okay but I'm not willing to test and I can't find much on it. Anybody know?
When I was a poor rent payer in my early 20’s, I bought a chaise lounge that had a hidden compartment in it. It traveled with me through multiple apartments, I still keep spare magazines and ammo in it despite having a safe.
There’s a lot of concealment furniture available at cheap prices. Pic related was my setup in those days.
What would happen if you just ignore this letter too.
I live in a country where this doesn't happen because thankfully we were "oppressed" by communism at some point and they left us with millions of appartments.
Essentially nothing, unless the landlord has some pull with local judges/courthouse staff. For some insane reason, squatters have crazy amounts of rights, and evictions usually take months, and upwards of a year to actually get finalized.
It's one thing if you've been paying rent, have a proper lease, and just hit hard times, what I don't get is how the frick can some hobo break into an empty house you only check on once a month, and suddenly he has rights to stay there, and isn't a trespasser to be dealt with as such.
You have to go through the courts and serve an actual eviction. This letter is a big fat nothing legally and many landlords end up fricking themselves over by trying to illegally evict people without going through proper avenues. Slumlords in general are mostly morons who think owning a property means they can do whatever they want when they rent it.

Assuming this letter is even real it’s not a squatter living there it’s a tenant and you’d be shocked the reasons some scum bags try to throw families out on to the streets for. This includes families with children who have paid there rent.
>Assuming this letter is even real it’s not a squatter living there it’s a tenant and you’d be shocked the reasons some scum bags try to throw families out on to the streets for. This includes families with children who have paid there rent.
Like I said anon, it's one thing if you're an actual tenant that's historically been in good standing, I was talking about those cases of literal hobos taking over people's houses and it taking months to get them out.
That landlord is guaranteed to be a retired boomer with a handful of properties that they treat the administration of like a real job. They must be absolutely seething to make an eviction notice like that. I've had tenants absolutely wreck a place and refuse to pay months in rent, and the idea of sitting at my PC, selecting clipart emojis to add to a kvetching complaint form/eviction notice, has never once occurred to me.
>two adult household with no children where both members work full time >still can’t afford to buy a house >”lmao just work harder bro”
Please shuffle off this mortal coil a little sooner, boomer
>I can't buy a gun safe because i'm an apartment rentoid
what does it have to do with being a rentoid? if you want to bolt it to the walls (which means you need to buy more guns, until it cannot be carried by 3 people) - caulk up the holes before moving out, most likely they won't even charge you >inb4 reddit-tier landlord bad horror story
You can own a safe, you just can't bolt it to the floor. Or you could just hide your guns, that's what I've always done. An average burglar wants a quick score and isn't going to waste time turning an entire apartment inside out looking for valuables.
>I can't buy a gun safe because i'm an apartment rentoid
So am I, I just keep them in a cabinet. Are you in some bong country that makes you bolt a safe to the floor before you can own a shotgun or something
>Buy safe anyways >Connect 2x4s or bolt 2 pieces of of steel so that they fit flush with your closet walls >Either torque those b***hes down or use a head that can't be gripped by hand(can even use an uncommon or security head) >Bolt safe to these >Safe isn't going anywhere without tools or demolishing the frame and drywall of the closet
Congrats with an upper double digit IQ you can both follow your lease and keep your firearms safe from hoodlums

I'm ignoring it because you're not a homeowner. You're making excuses to justify your bad decisions. You've literally listed $20 in gas as a major expense. Shit $200 on a water heater isn't one either.
You're running down to a zero balance on your account every month and it shows. It's pathetic and sad at the same time. Worked with a dude like you who had to "save" for his dogs rabies vaccine. Mind boggling.
They were random examples, and I've got $4000 in my bank account right now. You're doing an awful lot of projecting anon.
> $4000 in bank account
> Not poor
You're aware that keeping large amounts of money in a regular bank account is fricking stupid, and not something you should do, right?
You should have a rainy day fund (enough for ~4-6 months of rent/mortgage, utilities, food, etc) separate from your investments (stock market, bonds, index funds, etc). Unless you've paid off your house or live out in the sticks I'd guess the number for that would be >$4k anon.
What's the return rate on it? Highest I've seen for normal accounts is like 4% which means you'd have to have nearly $300k in the bank, and even more with "standard" rates. That's stupid for two reasons, one, just slapping that money into the S&P500 will get you at least double that return over time, and two, the FDIC only insures up to $250k. So either someone at your bank made a huge frickup with your account, or you've got hundreds of thousands of dollars in it that's basically burning away due to inflation.
Yeah cool, but that 1500 gets me a house in the ghetto and id need to get a 9% interest loan on top of a down payment
>actually a process where intelligent people vetted your capacity and social standing.
1980, not 1940.
I don't know if you're some trust fund baby or what but the way you are obviously delusional on how easy it is for a 22 year old to afford a house yet alone rent shows me that you are oblivious to reality. I don't know a single person in their early 20's who has bought a house.
You are right about a house being a better deal but just because that's true doesn't mean that you will be able to get one even if you've done everything right.
Lmao. I bought my first house when I was 20 working a $16/hr job 3 days a week. Fricking get your life together.
I believe you
I've got a bomb shelter and garage too. It's not fricking hard. 2600sqft for just the house. Stop being an absolute moron.
On the internet no one knows if you're a dog.
and the bank approved the loan, huh?
Just what in the god damn is wrong with you people.
>and the bank approved the loan, huh?
This is incomprehensible to you? Just look them straight in the eye and give a firm hand shake. Not hard at all.
If you put 20k cash down on anything the bank will give you money.
In what year? 1962? Nobody is buying a house in 2023 making 400 dollars a week you moron.
You can. I did. 2019.
Fricking move then dipshit. You complain and complain, but when you actually need to do something you don't do it. If your job can't provide for you then move to one that will. Stop blaming old geriatrics for your moronation.
>Fricking move then
Ok (leaving aside the point that small towns are almost as expensive due to all the people "just moving", but with jobs that pay drastically less), and let's say everyone moves. Now the largest freight rail hub in our country can't operate (because everyone who wasn't a boomer left, and the homeowning boomers are all retired) and the economy collapses, mass starvation as there aren't enough trucks to move the grain and fuel that was moving on trains... all because you're irrationally upset at people renting a place to live. What then?
>Just find a good woman bro
Might as well just tell OP to "just win the lottery".
>t. got his property in 2012
Ten, hell even five or six years ago I would have agreed with you one hundred percent, and that's what I did.
You have to be stupid to not realize that for many hard working and clever people in many areas of the country not only is acessing the capitol to buy a house an impossibility but is also a financially irresponsible move.
You couldn't make it any more obvious your parents went to college in the 80s and didn't tell you any stories.
>1980
>>Poor people going to college
>Pick one.
t. moron
>Also
>>1980
>>Poor people going to college
>Pick one.
You could easily pay for a bachelors at a state university with a minimum wage job back then, the frick are you on about?
>Renters are trash if you're doing it post college.
Houses start at around $800,000 where I live (which is already half an hour drive from where I work, where they're even more expensive). Bank would only approve me for a $600,000 mortgage which means I literally can't buy a house, how does that make me "trash"?
He believes wealth is proportionate to merit. It's an unfortunately common belief.
Why can't you stop being a poorgay?
That’s not an eviction notice. He’s just trying to scare the tenant into paying more and faster.
Now frick off.
none of your business
Honestly castle doctrine should apply against squatters
Like I said anon, it's one thing if you're an actual tenant that's historically been in good standing, I was talking about those cases of literal hobos taking over people's houses and it taking months to get them out.
up my ass
Based landchad. Should've bought a house moron.
That landlord is guaranteed to be a retired boomer with a handful of properties that they treat the administration of like a real job. They must be absolutely seething to make an eviction notice like that. I've had tenants absolutely wreck a place and refuse to pay months in rent, and the idea of sitting at my PC, selecting clipart emojis to add to a kvetching complaint form/eviction notice, has never once occurred to me.
nothing on the internet is real anymore
You must not be of ~~*the tribe*~~.
Bottom of a lake since the boating accident.
God I hate boomers.
>you're poor lmao
>no, YOU'RE poor
>on a board that is supposed to be about weapons
Highest quality /k/ posters
The best part is none of them own guns
> Being a poorgay
Have you ever considered just working harder?
>two adult household with no children where both members work full time
>still can’t afford to buy a house
>”lmao just work harder bro”
Please shuffle off this mortal coil a little sooner, boomer
I use apache cases (harbor freight Pelican copy, basically) w/ locks on them. I also have cameras and other security measures.
none of us chaps have guns anymore.
tragic boating accidents you understand. dreadful business all around.
Just put it in a closet like me
>I can't buy a gun safe because i'm an apartment rentoid
what does it have to do with being a rentoid? if you want to bolt it to the walls (which means you need to buy more guns, until it cannot be carried by 3 people) - caulk up the holes before moving out, most likely they won't even charge you
>inb4 reddit-tier landlord bad horror story
Up ya mudda’s ayss, federale pinche hota
Ive never rented, can somebody explain if you still get your bond money back if you burn down the apartment to spite a passive-aggressive letter?
Yeah
up your ass and to the left
Thrown about ths house, only kept in safe when I'm going to be gone for a day.
renter seethe: the thread
>AR15 on guitar rack
>AR9 hidden by bed
>Glock 17 on desk (also within arms reach of bed)
>hunting rifles/shotguns in an unlocked wooden cabinet
You can own a safe, you just can't bolt it to the floor. Or you could just hide your guns, that's what I've always done. An average burglar wants a quick score and isn't going to waste time turning an entire apartment inside out looking for valuables.
>I can't buy a gun safe because i'm an apartment rentoid
So am I, I just keep them in a cabinet. Are you in some bong country that makes you bolt a safe to the floor before you can own a shotgun or something
>Buy safe anyways
>Connect 2x4s or bolt 2 pieces of of steel so that they fit flush with your closet walls
>Either torque those b***hes down or use a head that can't be gripped by hand(can even use an uncommon or security head)
>Bolt safe to these
>Safe isn't going anywhere without tools or demolishing the frame and drywall of the closet
Congrats with an upper double digit IQ you can both follow your lease and keep your firearms safe from hoodlums
>I can't buy a gun safe because i'm an apartment rentoid
Wtf are you talking about? Is this an AI post? What's stopping you from putting a safe in an apartment???
3 flights of stairs.
yeah, I think it's time to buy property. Being a rentcel sucks
just make sure you are going stay long enough to get significant equity, because they front bias the interest.
Why do zoomie rentoids act like paying what they owe is optional and someone demanding they pay up (albeit in a cringy way) is literal holocaust?
