These 2 aint doing shit. Zalunzhny literally said that Gerasimov is the smartest general alive and that the art of warfare is still Russian or some shit. For what he is though hes pretty decent

Might want to go re-read what was said, anon.
The article is paywalled so I'm just gonna assume I'm right. Even if I was wrong though its not like Ukraine is winning because their high command is better or something. What cunning decisions have they made the whole war? Blow up the two bridges supplying a whole sector? Attack a sector with a 5:1 combat power advantage? Wow. This guys the second Hannibal or something. With the intel they have on all fronts and Russian incompetence being like it is Zelensky himself could be the commander and still win
Honestly I can't tell if Surovikin was actually somewhat competent or if Gerasimov is just so bad that he makes even baldie look good.
Would've loved to see how Surovikin would've performed in February, or if he would've even went on the offensive, I'm guessing he wanted to wait until Spring proper and that was just a no go.
Zalunzhny has the potential to go down in history as a great strategist, but that's too early to say.
Gotta wait how this whole thing ends, and how much of the stuff Ukraine does is actually his decisions
>Zalunzhny has the potential to go down in history as a great strategist
Is this a joke? I guess he's only 49 so the potential is there in a sense but he's been completely unremarkable so far along with the rest of the Ukrainian high command.
He wasn't the guy who did the defense of Kyiv and the subsequent counter-offensive, right? That was some other dude IIRC. That guy should be the one everyone talks about.
>the guy who did the defense of Kyiv and the subsequent counter-offensive
That was Oleksandr Syrskyi, he was also responsible for the Kharkiv counteroffensive.
I think a lot of the early days fighting was down to Russian incompetence (downright historical failures really) and an unexpected willingness to fight from the average ukie, best showcased by the defense of Sumy and Kyiv.
The US wargames the strategies with Ukrainian leaders.
They send their battle plans to US/UK too brass, who then grade the feasibility and requirements for success.
And they do all of it without Russia knowing shit. Even under trump the amount of real intel that Russia was getting was pretty pathetic. The whole strategy of “letting Russia pay people and feeding them dogshit intel” really went kind of nuts for the last few years. Part of the whole reason putin was so gung-ho on invading was that Russian intelligence had barely scratched the surface of what was going on in the USG and had been happily being fed “reverse cargo cult” affirming intel that made them think the US operated at the same crazy idiot tier as they do.
more importantly, where does SHE rank?
Ghey if you wouldn't
This is one of my weirdest boners.
nothing weird about it
I'd
12(twelve) out of 10(ten)
Below Patton, above Rommel

Somewhere below a couple hundred people from the wars of the last 500 years.
