Where do people get water on the ADT?

On the American Discovery Trail, where do people get water? Do they use water filtration system the entire time or can you get away with buying water at local stores in some areas?

I am planning a thru-hike, but my only major worry not being able to find water and getting lost.
How do I prevent both of these possible issues?
Pic not related, it's just something I made with Stable diffusion.

My favorite part of the trail is the section between Beaver and Circleville. It goes through the only remote area where one might disappear forever.

it says that its only 50 miles between teh two cities, surely that can't be the most remote area?

I should've said "where one is most likely to disappear forever".

I see people using GPS watches, what is the best one I can get so I don't get lost? Or are they not necessary?

The adt has never been completed in a single trip. You are setting yourself up for failure, no one on 4chinz has even attempted a thru hike let alone adt. Prove me wrong, pro tip, you can't

That's because it is, America doesn't actually exist. It's an idea that keeps the goyim working in the false belief that they could one day go to it.

You some absolutely moronic. If you need to go to this shitty board for advice about a basic question like this for something this planning intensive you're gonna die.

What if I told you I was planning to run away innawoods and build a cabin so I can practice bushcraft for the rest of my life and live off my comfy garden, but I don't know how to garden? I don't have a driver's license, I don't know what bushcraft is, I've never used hand tools because they scare me, and I live in the city.
But one day I'm gonna be innawoods.

It's impossible to get lost when your goal is start on one shore and walk in a director to the other. Just filter obviously.

Checked, also I only want to do 2 parts, and maybe only 1 part of the adt for now. So i can still get lost

you sound like you have absolutely 0 experience, why rush for one of the hardest thru hikes straight of the bat? you will just lose a lot of confidence when you fail it early on, atleast consider starting with a 1-3 weeks trip and see how it goes
frick why am i even bothering to reply to this bait this board fricking sucks now have a nice day

Checked and it's not bait gayo, I do plan on doing some longer hike, I was thinking maybe 500 miles but not sure. I am inexperienced but I know I could do one relatively good, I can easily walk 10 miles now so I'd be good to go after some additional training. Do you have a hike in the Midwest that you'd recommend?

            >Midwest that you'd recommend?
im not in the us so i cant help you with that, but CDT goes through areas of the south west of midwest if you want to section hike that part of it.
do you mind posting a lighterpack of your current setup that i could look over if you are looking to work on your gear? or are you starting from nothing?
            >not being able to find water
use a filter (sawyer sqeeze on smartwater bottle is good) or chemical water treatment tabs, turbo in depth videos about water filtration, just watch all the videos the guy has made if you want:

            >can you get away with buying water at local stores in some areas?
Absolutely not, you need 500ml of water per hour so you will burn through money fast and make a mountain of waste.
            >getting lost.
printer paper maps + compass + pencil will work fine, either put the map in a ziplock, get a map cover or laminate them. Always know where you are and learn to find your location using waypoints and triangulation, super easy skill to learn and stays in your head forever. GPS watches are around 400usd and garmins minis are 300usd but you will pay a frick ton for the israeli subscription. Use a PLB if you only want the emergency button and no subscription shit, they are around 100-200usd.
look through this list to get an idea for a pack setup but a lot of the gear isnt the best you can get for the money and the rating system is a bit bad, dont fall for the DCF meme, dont buy osprey packs.

I have all former infantry gear, acu ruck, sleep system etc. I know that I need to replace the ruck with a civ back pack, but can I keep the sleep system, it's heavy duty for arctic Temps but heavy. Can I get away without using a tent? I have a rain outer cover thing.

    you ask people for water

      Anonymous

you know what, this might actually work, if someone was thirsty as frick and begging me for water i would probably just give it to them because i can hike without it for an hour whatever. should i do this and save 75g on my 3 smartwater bottles? i dont see any tradeoff

I thin he means ask business on the trail to fill you up or people's house you come across. I saw a YouTuber who did that. The dude would ask to sleep in people's yards lmao
