real wirenuts are only made to fit up to 6 awg.
Use pic related if you don't need to do very many of them, or use polaris type connectors. Or use crimpable connectors and possibly binding posts or bus bars depending on what you're doing

IKR?
Picrel is a typical scene from Indiana (ignore the typo in credit).
When will they stop the madness?

I was going to use one to temporarily isolate a hot wire.
Just use electrical tape
They're graded for at least 2 wires, so for a single 4 you should be able to use one for two 8's, since it's just the one wire.
luv me some polaris taps
just tape it off
>just tape it off
never worked on live wires before?
>wire nuts
why do Amerisharts insist on keep using this moronic garbage
American electrical methods blow my mind every time
The horror, that almost looks like it's been boot laced and twisted together

I usually dont have any wirenuts with me on jobs so i just use electrical tape most of the time, i think its safer anyway.
Just use electrical tape
>4awg wire nuts
stop
Not for splicing wires, just to cap one off.
The largest ideal wire nuts will still likely fit in that application. Like the other anons said though, just tape it
6 is bigger than 4 you moron
>6 gauge wire is bigger than 4 gauge wire
4 would probably fit in the big blue wirenut if it's just one conductor
