Quality ammo is around the same price, but there's more options in .308, and .308 might be like, a buck cheaper per box of good ammo.
But yes cheap ammo is like 1/3rd the price of the cheapest .270win I've found.
Leave it to outdoor life to take a pic of .308 next to 7mm RM and use it for a .308 vs 300 wm article.
And this dumb frick OP chooses that stock image? Take a pic of your ammo if you really are a has gun.
.308, because at hunting distances it is more than enough for durr, elk, and black bear, and I can get a lot of trigger time in because cheap ammo and longer barrel life.
300 blk in am AR, I'm in thick woods a lot, used to Cary a marlin 336 in .30-30, but the 300blk AR is shorter, lighter, and I can use a proper sling on it.
308 because I'm a Ruger memelord and M80 ball used to be 45cpr. I hunt deer but suck at it. First year only saw the wrong species. Second year forgot to apply for the draw. Third year applied but didn't get drawn. Scout is sad...
I want to design a caliber, what has the most punch and accuracy at 75 yards with minimal recoil with a noise suppressor at an automatic fire rate of 100 rounds per minute?

That's a difficult question. I target a wide variety of species, from small deer (fallow, hog, etc.) all the way up to large dangerous game (water buffalo, cape buffalo, etc.) So it's very hard to pick a one size fits all cartridge. If I were to select a cartridge based on what I use the most often, it would be 30-06. However, if I were to make my choice based on the most versatile cartridge I use, it would be .375 H&H. A .375 H&H will reliably kill anything on the planet, from pigs to elephant.
Guess I should have clarified with NA game. If I were to go to Africa for Buffalo I would get the 577 trex and be put on my ass. It would be awesome! Lol
Seconded. Got into reloading and 7mm RM can be loaded down for whitetail or boar or loaded up to git-sum levels for bigger game or long range shooting.
.17hmr
I use is on tiny-small to biggest-small game. I just love how well .17hmr performs. It's so great.
.270 winchester for everything else, which for animal killing is way better than .308 winchester.
i shot a buck with my shitty $120 mosin that i cant hit shit at 100 yards. buck dropped dead like any other. you gays who spend $5k on some fancy "hunting" rifle with your meme ammo make me laugh
And yes, I know most here don't like belted mags, but it was handed down to me and I love it.
Wtf dont hunt mules

Am I the idiot or are they?
if the post you replied to has a (You) in it then it's you
Guess I'm good then, woohoo
This happened to /k/ years ago anon.
It's far too late.
I have never seen someone with a 3-digit IQ post this
>mule deer
I'm late, why don't you hunt them? Do they not taste good?
I like muleys. Their behavior is a lot more interesting than whitetails and the males do that silly Pepe Le Pew hop instead of running.
I used .270 win for years, but switched to .308.
I also bought a 300blk upper for brush hunting but haven't taken it out yet.
I know plinking ammo for 308 is cheaper, how does good hunting ammo compare to 270 cost wise?

Make me put on shoes to go to my truck... happy now?
>beat up old ass box still full of ammo
Kek, I'm sure you get lots of practice.
I shoot the cheaper ammo more but only the expensive hunting rounds enough to sight it in. So yes, I get enough practice and can shoot it just fine.
.308, because at hunting distances it is more than enough for durr, elk, and black bear, and I can get a lot of trigger time in because cheap ammo and longer barrel life.
8mm mauser, I shoot pigs.

I would take the 300 blk over the 30-30 if you are using the right rounds
308 because I'm a Ruger memelord and M80 ball used to be 45cpr. I hunt deer but suck at it. First year only saw the wrong species. Second year forgot to apply for the draw. Third year applied but didn't get drawn. Scout is sad...

Ummm, pellet gun?
It needs to be able to penetrate standard kevlar.
Ya, not going into that one FBI
You're describing subsonic 300blk
Should design a specialized gun that is stock with suppressor to go with the round. Backpack belt fed automatic SMG?
Something to go with a 1 mile sniper, rocket launcher and mortar team.
I'm thinking .45 but maybe there's something more ideal for tripoding a smg as a machine gun position with the suppressor.
5.56 necked down to .17 cal and cut back to take super heavy for cal bullets at subsonic velocities.
Define punch…
Auto fire rate of 100 rounds a minute is not automatic, you can do that with a semi auto.
I use 6.5 Creedmoor for hogs and whitetails in Texas. Sometimes I’ll use a .308 but 6.5 is a comfy round.
7x65r because it has a very flat trajectory and my favorite break action is chambered in it.

>.375 HH for fallow deer
Euros truly are moronic and aweful hunters.
I didn't say I would use it for deer. Just that it's the most versatile round that I use.
Guess I should have clarified with NA game. If I were to go to Africa for Buffalo I would get the 577 trex and be put on my ass. It would be awesome! Lol
Why do you have a 7mm rem mag in your picture?
Just found a stock pic for 300 mag, didn't work
I use 5.56 for the same things.
Lies
It's not a lie
I like my .444
While .22 and 12 gauge are the og best hunting combo, the .444 is a great brush gun
I like the .444 but the 45-70 has better bullet options and cheaper. I could be wrong though.
7 mm rem mag is kind of dank
Seconded. Got into reloading and 7mm RM can be loaded down for whitetail or boar or loaded up to git-sum levels for bigger game or long range shooting.

30-06, my father hunted with it and so did his father before him
I love my fuddy ought long fudd. Mulies, whitetails, black bear, moose, elk, bison. Hopefully sheep and/or caribou this coming summer.
.50 cal
squirrels

The 270 Winchester is God's chose deer cartridge.
I've been quite disappointed with its performance.
45-70 because it can kill anything on the planet with different loadings and I can't shoot further than 50m in these dense-ass woods anyway.
