There is no right amount, the right amount of armor is the maximum armor you can wear without getting constant heat strokes. My suspicion is that that amount of armor is lower than GWOT, since SEA armies seem to still not use armor as much as they could even after modernizations have made it much more available (you still saw a lot of chest rigs in the battle of Marawi, for example), but the intent should still be to wear as much as you can handle. But if you arent accustomed to the heat (for example, due to being a white boy from a temperate country) or its a particularly hot season, then LBV is probably the answer because with the humidity its still just as hot in the shade.
There are a lot of images of them standing around or otherwise up to stuff in the beating sun. I imagine it's more about staying hydrated. The guys you should really feel for were the ones in the initial invasion of Iraq, wearing their chemical suits.
Read in "Recce" that SADF SF were trained by ex-Rhodesian Selous Scouts instructors that made them strip to their short shorts and crawl through the bush for couple days. Author states that it was the main thing that made him learn to respect the bush and how to move in it for least inconvenience and noise.
>it's another low-quality, openly racist, but closeted homosexual, thread about a racist military that failed to defend it's racist government
Get fricked OP. This board doesn't need any more shit threads
>What's the right amount and type of armor for infantry in a tropical war?
Most of Rhodesia isnt "tropical". Its more like West Texas with hills. As for how much armor is appropriate, it depends on what you're doing. If you're working off a FOB you should wear armor. If you're humping through the bush for weeks then ditch the armor and use the weight savings to carry stuff that you will definitely need.
>AI image

Did grunts in GWOT just hide in the shade and drink water all day? Sounds miserable to have to wear full kit in the desert.

ideally an armored thong and nipple pasties, the perfect compromise between protection, mobility, and comfort
commercially available solutions like qore ice vents make wearing body armor in the heat way less of a pain
