I don't think being a pound heavier makes it that big of a difference when you hit someone with it, especially when virtually everyone who uses it hurts other people with it by shooting bullets through its barrell, not clubbing them with it.
>Delta wanted proprietary CQC rifle >PCC too weak, M4 too large and cumbersome >HK touts piston system from G36 >2005, HK416D is adopted
why didn't they just used CQBR you may be asking; because they're Delta and they have the money to do this kind of stuff
Wut, how is the m4 any larger or heavier than the 416 its the same shit. The only difference is the short stroke piston which is cool but im not convinced is actually better than DI
whats the point of the 416? looks like a more expensive m4 to me.
lots of people during the late 90's and early 00's had the boomer lore that the DI system was inferior to the piston system, and they spent a whole lot of money to port the G36 piston to the M4. The gun only really became popular because SOF guys used it. HK defenders are just trying to cope with the fact that their $5000 clone correct 416 is an expensive proprietary showpiece that is no more effective than a $300 PSA freedom.
I worked for an alphabet soup PSD back then and we replaced our 10.3 and 11.5 Commandos with the 416D, it was just fine for keeping tucked next to the console or door in the front seat. Recoil impulse was way more controlled on FA.
Pretty much. Piston vs Di can be debated until the end of time but I prefer di. I hate the 416 e1 stock pictured, it rolls around in my shoulder. The e2 and slimline are fine by me I still like the 416 though. I don’t think being easier to clean is worth the sharper recoil impulse but it is accurate, well made, and ergonomic
USMC was hell bent on the HK416 since 2000s and DOD's testing of pistons vs direct injection was thrown under the RUG because the outcone was a complete oppsite with DI being superior. Obviously only one got officially adopted but DOD already dispelled "the piston was better for muh automatics" myth.

this is the not the first time I've seen this claim with zero (0) evidence

When you do testing of magazines you are also testing the weapons at the same time. Malfunctions are broken down between, magazine related and weapon related
Believe it or not, nor non-US-Military governmental contracts the 416 is cheaper than the M4s due to relatively low maintenance contracts of H&K compared to other manufacturers. Individual guns might be expensive, buying a million is cheap.
Does more damage than the aug and has higher mobility than the m4 tho
>Does more damage
homie im talking about real life
yeah so am I, and it does more damage

She's the best girl (and also my wife).

Why did the marines want it so bad?

Huh.

make HK a bunch of money for a cheap product.
Burns cleaner on full auto?
Price? Not really a consideration when you mainly sell to governments instead of consumers.

M4 but short stroke -> very slightly more reliable
That's it.
